just did my final lycan pubstomp...
result: 2 divine rapiers
RIP lycan pubstomp :(
reminds me of my first game against a lycan
I was veno, and the enemy lycan was absolutely pummeling us
then he got really cocky, tried to take us on 1v5, and we killed him
I was the only one who noticed...
"DIVINE RAPIER"
just did my final lycan pubstomp...

same here I got him by randoming
only got 1 rapier though, enemy based died too fast
Men, I am trying Lycan jungling on test. It's both hilarious and frightening.
[editline]4th October 2012[/editline]
I am having hard time coming up with items. Skills I guess is still wolves, as they will give you most dps level 1, but 0 tankability up to level 3 pretty much, unless you want to tank till they have low hp and then tank with Lycan.
I tried stout/3tangoes, ended up with 0 mana for wolves after 3 packs of wolves (First being in fountain).
Get basilius early, not enough gold for regen.
Shit's tricky.
apparently there's a big update tonight?
any news/proof of this so far?
considering the massive dota 2 test update that happened yesterday thats proof enough

hahaha WOW

new test update with a lot of those things, which means it's going to be implemented next in the full game, they are usually always a day ahead etc etc

I will try chokepoint jungling or getting at least 2 clarities
I will try chokepoint jungling or getting at least 2 clarities
I am trying to get setup that allows lycan to tank majority of damage before level 3 hits.
Thing is, if you get enough (like RoP and Stout with a side of tangoes/salve) you are unlikely to have enough mana to afford wolves too often.
Maybe they key is to use wolves rarely ?

Test client got a HUGE update yesterday so, you know...
New hero, new cosmetics if I'm not mistaken, skill/statistic updates for every hero regarding their abilities and/or attributes, also some updates to the gameplay itself like gold and experience gain...
I've abandoned a total of 5 games, have yet to go in low priority. I've played in it before, though, in a queue with some friends. It was disgustingly horrible. Never again.
I was there.
I saw no difference from a normal pub game.
Well damn. I've tried quite a few comboes, but it all boils down to a couple of main issues.
1. Your jungling speed is so low, since you can't really beat any big camp until level 3 or 5 prefferably, that items will be coming painfully slow. Vlads will take a while.
2. You have to get toughness/regen, since without it you will have very limited tanking done by wolves, followed by hero being at constant 100~ hp, and even with regen you will go low. You can be killed just a Chen creep I believe if you get unlucky with camps.
3. Wolves upkeep is damn hard. You can't summon them on every camp, you simply won't have mana, as you have to tank for wolves, i.e. clarity has limited window where you can pop it. If you've just killed a camp with fresh wolves and go to a differenet camp, if it happens to be something tough (especially at levels 2 and 3) you either get very very low and use wolves, or waste wolves i.e. a lot of mana.
Self-sustainable jungle for Lycan means very high risk of dying, combined with careful and selective jungling. Once he gets vlads, he feels like old Lycan again, but until then, it's like any other low level carry, very frail.
And I haven't tested Roshan, I've restarted all of my attempts because I was dissatisfied with results at about 7 minutes or so, but since Roshan kills wolves 2x as fast now, it might require a bit more than Vlads now.
This is fascinating. Too bad I don't have quite enough strong theoretical knowledge to calculate best starting items.

Do you actually care about Dota 2 ? Doesn't seem so.
Aren't those Legacy Keys?
No.
I just like having independent movement of the camera and mouse. I move the camera with ESDF and my ability keys are around it (WRTGXC).
Men, I thought I had good test run on Lycan.
Level 6 at 9 minutes with Morbid/Basilius/Stout, 200 hp, 100 mana.
Lycan is going to take a while to get used to now.
Sooo enjoyable, and I am soo glad that I always random, so if I get him I can afford 2 more salves and a clarity.

...
That's actually fucking genious.
Tough I personally prefer mouse-panning.

It always slightly annoyed me having to move the camera with the mouse because moving it during combat would take away from trying to orb walk with certain characters, and finally I got sick of it so I spent a few days trying to figure out a "better" control scheme. I like it more now. Even when playing Invoker last night it didn't make it harder, I just didn't know how to play Invoker. I played three games and by the third one I felt like I was getting into the groove of things.

Under that judgment, if someone picks Lycan in a non random way, and supports spend some of the starting cash in Salves/Tangos/Clarities for him, it could work too, but that wouldn´t be really cost efficient, unless another support randoms.

Not cost efficient having Lycan with semi-comparable jungle to previous version where he was one of top picks/bans ?
I don't know about you, but even in pub as support I would throw him a free salve or two.
Still, if you can't expect any outside help, try to get as much tankability/regen with a side of mana. Early basilius is suicide, don't even think about Quelling Blade I guess (Lycan's damage is good, but past level 3 you are barely 1/2 of damage, the other half are wolves), Stout shield / Ring of Protection is your best bet. I think that Tangoes are to be sort of ditched too, since they give less health combined than 1 salve, and you can afford waiting as Lycan now, since you can't take on big camps, and travelling between small ones easily covers salve.
Also, to anyone who is going to try Tranquil Boots, into basilius and vlads, good luck. Sheding 500g than doesn't help jungling on heal that drains your very limited mana can be difficult to aquire and then you have even less wolves.
I strongly recommend to anyone who is not the risky type to side-lane for a bit and then hop into jungle.

I mean, i would rather have money for Wards/upgrade courier instead of having a Lycan that if he fucks up would be wasting the cash.
WASD camera + 12345 spells masterrace
The only time I ever used keys for camera is when I used to play WC3 on my laptop. I would start out using the mouse, but I was able to do shit faster with the touchpad for some reason. It was so weird.
Playing with a tablet is really satisfying

So is laning more viable than jungling?
I saw a jug get arcane boots and blink dagger
Shit worked amazing with his team comp

Wait Middle Mouse Button works on dota now?
Darn in. Empower got fixed, no more cleave for ranged.
It was fine to be honest, cleave worked only at range of the cleave anyway, i.e. sniper could only cleave if he was 200 units away from unit at most.
