I really like Clinkz now. We lost the game due to bad teamwork but I went toe to toe with a fed luna and won.
Doing Furion the right way is challenging. ...Furion ... ... Furion ...
I know, I know, old names tend to stick, but come on guys. It's Nature's Prophet or Tequoia. Furion is name of the Warcraft lore hero of the Night Elves, Furion Stormrage to be exact, mightiest and wisest of the druids. He was the NP's model in warcraft Dota. There is no real valid reason to stop calling NP Furion, but Valve does great job on new names, Zharvakko, Karroch, Ostarion, Tequoia has a nice feeling to it and is smilar to Sequoia.
The name tequoia bothers me so fucking much.
tequoia sounds like some mixed drink
The name tequoia bothers me so fucking much.
And everyone whom I suggest to start calling him that too. Just why? It's not like they called him Grassy McLeafbeard, Tequoia has nice ring to it.

Just kinda more catchy than valve's new names.
I wish it could've stayed Furion
And everyone whom I suggest to start calling him that too. Just why? It's not like they called him Grassy McLeafbeard, Tequoia has nice ring to it.
That name would've been better
They're way too hard to remember, especially zharrvrravraeirrro something.
tequoia sounds like some mixed drink
And there you go ! A nice pun with his name. Tequoia, Tequila. You can read it "Tequoia, the killa". You can't even do that with Furion. +I've noticed that every "kid" picks up calling him Furion as soon as they land in Dota 2 and refuse to call him anything else. Just the pronounciation of that by them is bloody irritating.
And everyone whom I suggest to start calling him that too. Just why? It's not like they called him Grassy McLeafbeard, Tequoia has nice ring to it.
Even if I started calling him that, nearly no one remembers that his dota 2 name is Tequoia because everyone calls him either Profit or Furion. On top of that, Furion feels more natural and easier to type compared to Tequoia. And Tequoia just bothers me to no end.
Furion fits way more the character as well, I don't know, it makes me think of fury, which fits nicely his NATURE'S WRATH and stuff lines.
They're way too hard to remember, especially zharrvrravraeirrro something.
really ? Remembering every ability name, it's effects, bkb/linken synergy, disassembleable items, item recipies, and god knows how much more is simple, but remember proper name, not "popular" one, is too much ?
Furion fits way more the character as well, I don't know, it makes me think of fury, which fits nicely his NATURE'S WRATH and stuff lines.
Pmuch why its more catchy than his other names.
Tequoia isn't exactly the easiest thing to type or say when you need to say it fast. That's why Furion is stuck.
tequoia sounds like some mixed drink
Or some girl from a ghetto area's name.
Why are you getting so mad over people calling a videogame character by a different name?
2 reasons and not mad per say, more so annoyingly curious. 1. People react very harshly to anyone (mostly me) calling him Tequoia, as it if mattered in the end of the day. 2. Most of the heroes who retained their titles but had their names changed are only (or better, majorly) reffered to by their titles. It's rare to see people call Beastmaster Rexxar (although Thrall is also kinda like NP's case, though he lost his name alltogether and became Disruptor the Stormcrafter). [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
Tequoia isn't exactly the easiest thing to type or say when you need to say it fast. That's why Furion is stuck.
prophet is easy to type as well. NP is every shorter. And from vocal standpoint ,Tequoia should be more common choice due to "q" sound. Furion is spelled in a regular way, with no real "hit" or sound elevation. In Tequoia, if you say it out loud, a strong "k" sound applies in the middle, giving the word girth of sorts, stronger effect. I am insanly curious if it's just nostalgia keeping Furion anchored, is it laziness and people not being able to be bothered to change their ways, sheep effect where everyone says it to fit crowd of "old-timers", it's interesting.

Its more of a hey Ive called him Furion for like 5 years, what the hell whats this Tequoia bullshit? All other heroes too.
Honestly forget Tequoia or Furion debate, I find it worse when people call him Profit instead of Prophet. I can't be the only one who hates this, even if it is a farming joke.
Its more of a hey Ive called him Furion for like 5 years, what the hell whats this Tequoia bullshit? All other heroes too.
I don't see anyone still calling skeleking "leoric" or brewmaster "panda" etc.
Unless you're going to be taking some kind of dota 2 test, there isn't really a reason to remember a name no one calls a hero by.
Mind has tendency to pick up tid-bits of data associated with what you want remember, especially if they somehow present themselves as "unique" or official.
I don't see anyone still calling skeleking "leoric" or brewmaster "panda" etc.
I still call boner king leoric from times to times. Brewmaster isn't a panda anymore tho so there's no reason to call him panda.
I don't see anyone still calling skeleking "leoric" or brewmaster "panda" etc.
Because its easy to remember and type furion. For skeleking and brew most just say that. Its not a big deal. People who whine about furion vs tequilai whatever are much more annoying.
I don't see anyone still calling skeleking "leoric" or brewmaster "panda" etc.
Panda is around, at least for me. Here's a worrisome thing though. If people can't let go of names, just because of "it has been like this for X years", then how can we expect community to change in significant ways. And we don't have to argue that community has to change, a lot, right ? And believe me, thinking that "name dispute" doesn't mean anything is wrong. it just basically shows that people don't want to commit at all to change old ways or habits, and coduct towards misplays, new players, all the behavior we hate and dispise, it's part of habit for many. And lack of stimulus supported by turning down such little changes like names might be an obstacle in general improving of the community. Big things have small beginnings (please don't go Prometheus on this), but small beginnings have to happen first.
furion vs tequilai whatever are much more annoying.
Exactly this! Why ? Can't you just post "I call him what I like, my choice", without arguments like "everybody does", "it's shorter" as it isn't shorter than "np" and such. People find, or more exactly people's minds find excuses to both defend and continue using old name. Fascinating.

I don't see people complaining about the nerubian-nyx change and the Obsidian - Outworld change was only in the beginning. It's been a while since NP has been out but everyone still calls him furion.
I think you are overthinking about this way too much.
Maybe. But if my overthinking is apparent, why bother defending standpoint against pointless-analysis spewing poster ? Thus, I think I am not overthinking, rather scratching "the weird part" of behaviour associated with Dota. Give it a thought yourself, psychology applies everywhere where humans apply and neglecting it is rather silly. Oddly, Tequoia has no such things. Only lore mentions him as Tequoia, not a single voice-que or flavour text. It might be because they added name change ad hoc and Valve's main name for him is Nature's Prophet, but still, players don't receive stimulus to call him that from the hero itself, but neither do they get "furion" ques, yet habit persists.
