Me love KoTL long time. They went super push, heavy gank (pugna, leshrac, luna, rubik and pudge) and we countered with heavy anti push and teamfight/carry (KoTL (me), faceless, dirge, axe and shadow demon). It was an entertaining game while we protected our carry and pushed them back all the time, while we set up axe/kotl/sd combos all over the place.

I recently started playing Dota 2. I've played a boatload of practice matches so I can understand how a couple of heroes work such as Storm Spirit, Tidehunter, Zeus, Invoker and Beastmaster. I've played 7 matches and won only 1 because my team is always bad. I'll be sitting in mid as Storm Spirit and destroying some silly person that went Lifestealer mid, and our Luna at bot is 0/4 in the first couple minutes of the game. It's irritating to say the least. Is there any legitimate way to combat baddies aside from just keep playing until I'm out of the theoretical hole?

Like guys who can fight off multiple dudes at once with relative ease, like one of my favorites; Batrider. (He's a tad "easier" than Storm too) Or just a guy who has disables, don't underestimate the effect of pings (Alt + Mouse1) when you play them, like Bane or Lion: Once you start comboing a guy ping them like an autist who just ate a bee. Or another alternative, Big teamfight heroes. Like Tide which you are aware of, but also try Sand King. He's the most pubstompy initiator there is too. Basically, I recommend you to try out Batrider, Lion (or Bane) and Crixalis (Sandking). (Just to notify, Batrider is hard-ish 1st, but once you get the idea of him, he's fun as fuck and effective too.)

don't play batrider, he's a hero that you need to know a lot of fundamentals and mechanics for. play lion, tidehunter, lina, skeleton king, sven, earthshaker, sand king, lich, etc.
