His jungle is extremely difficult now, unless you get some help/random gold/pull for at least 2 levels or so. You are squishy, you need a lot of regen and wolves die very quickly so they can't tank more than 3-4 hits each, god forbid it's hardcamp like Ursa or Wildkins.
His laning isn't terrible, but then it's issue with Lycan being Lycan, i.e. all about damage. He doesn't have anything except damage and while that is great in some scenarios 2 ranged casters might just laugh and combo him. Leaping from lane to jungle also gives enemy team clear sign: Gankable = this area (where before he spend his time here from the start i.e. some people could just forget about him and be about to receive rude awakening) + lanemate suffers if he stays in lane, as he is against enemy/enemies who is/are higher lever/equal level, i.e. he is at disadavantage compared to if he had all experience from lane in the first place.
He is still monster mid/late, his Roshan is much more difficult now as wolves die 2x as fast to Rosh as well.
I guess people are still figuring out how to jungle with him with basic 600g without having to ask for assistance or do trips back to fountain and maybe then we will see some comeback. For now, he is damage-ball that will be picked in mid/late pushstrats most likely.
I find it humorous when people say they will lane for 3 levels and then go jungle.
Do they not realize the disadvantage they are giving their lane partner.

This can work if it's arranged so when they leave, mid ganks top twice or so to equalise it.
In such case, it can be smart to get Lycan in conjuction with Night Stalker for example and let Lycan jungle at first night, stuff like that.
I am glad I always random, so I can just go basilius into lots of regen and semi-old jungle with a lot more micro.

Typical pub game is any game that can happen. Think of pro-games as of pubs that use Captian's Mode and decided to speak to each other.
I've had legitimate trilanes in pubs, both working and not. I've had pushstrats, 5 man carry wins, all-early nukers loses, balanced teams, anything.
Odds of you going lycan, asking a teammate who picked reasonable survivable hero and asking other guy to pick Night Stalker and make enough hell around at night so you can farm up to your midgame in jungle are not as low as you might think.
Unless you are stuck in low priority, [I]god the stuff in there[/I]. I've been down there maybe 2 or 3 times and I am still scared.
bot games are fucking awful to solo queue in if you want to try anything thats not a carry

He can support, but he is semi-carry, semi-initiator more so.
People often force him into support for the same reason they force Silencer. They both steam-roll via kills, Silencer due to INT steal, Sven due to ganking capability with Storm Hammer, Warcy and God's Strenght, so early on they can take one for the team.
But Sven being ward bitch and buying smoke every time team wants to gank ? No no no, wasted potential.
Nothing's more scary than BKBed Sven blinking into team and AoE stunning 3 people while God's Strenght is on.

Lol I just had the funniest game, I randomed Dazzle so I didn't buy support stuff because our random Omni wouldn't buy wards so I didn't courier, the entire game was lost and we made it for 50 minutes for some reason just dying over and over, but then... their BH bought a divine... and our team stole it and won in 2 minutes.
