don't play batrider, he's a hero that you need to know a lot of fundamentals and mechanics for.
play lion, tidehunter, lina, skeleton king, sven, earthshaker, sand king, lich, etc.
If he get's the general idea of Storm, I bet he is able to play Bat too, tbh.
I altough agree that he's more gimmicky than Storm, but Bat is more effective at teamfights if you know how to play him. Reason to this is because Bat's goo-shit slows turnrates which cripples enemy team's mobility by a large margin, combined with Firefly and Molotov he can control the fight all over the place, Lasso is also one of the top 10 ganking tools in the game and also goes trough BKB.
The difficulty of the heroes IMO are 6/10 for Storm, and 7.5/10 for Bat.
And yes, you need to know how the game works before you start riding the Bat.
Also, I wouldn't really recommend Earthshaker as an easy hero either, he pretty much requires great lasthitting to farm his blink, which he needs pretty bad, before that he's sort of bad. (Fissure is godlike all over the game tough.)
did you forget that he's played 7 matches.
did you forget that he's played 7 matches.
I don't think "boatload" of matches is 7.
I understood it as he has played 7 matchmaking games, in addition of practise matches.
did you forget that he's played 7 matches.
Yes but I've played a lot of practice matches to:
-get a feel for last hitting,
-play with one of my friends who has almost 2,000 hours in Dota 2 so he can tell me how bad i am / show me ward positions / general knowledge about juke spots and other things,
-find out bits about the map such as shop locations and jungle camps,
-try out heroes,
-practice last hitting some more,
-understand basic gameplay mechanics such as turn rates, how to quickly interact with the courier without interrupting your lane focus, how to chase properly, how to pull creeps and so on,
Speaking of Heroes, I recently found Beastmaster to be a very interesting Hero due to his unique ability to isolate targets and act as a semi-carry. Would you say he's worth learning how to be good with at this point in time, and if so, should he be played in the Jungle or in a lane, if so which lane and as what role (etc.)? Or should I stick to practicing Storm Spirit, Tidehunter and Invoker as those are the Heroes that I've practiced with for moderate periods of time and enjoy because of mobility, extremely powerful CC, and huge library of utility and damage respectively.
I have a lot of questions. MOBAs are complex. :(

I'd suggest you to check this guide: http://www.purgegamers.com/welcome-to-dota-you-suck (Trust me, it's a real guide.)
You already know a lot of things, but this guide might help you learn the rest of the basics, like stats, item build, etc.
I recently started playing Dota 2. I've played a boatload of practice matches so I can understand how a couple of heroes work such as Storm Spirit, Tidehunter, Zeus, Invoker and Beastmaster.
I've played 7 matches and won only 1 because my team is always bad. I'll be sitting in mid as Storm Spirit and destroying some silly person that went Lifestealer mid, and our Luna at bot is 0/4 in the first couple minutes of the game.
It's irritating to say the least. Is there any legitimate way to combat baddies aside from just keep playing until I'm out of the theoretical hole?
Beastmaster isn't that good in pubs, but it can work due to how insane his ganks are once he gets his Roar.
He does well in a lane, but he can also ancient-jungle once you farm up a soulring. (Ask your buddy about this)
His role is mostly a ganker/initiator, more of a ganker due to how his ult works.
You aren't supposed to farm in lane, you're supposed to get your gold from ganking and/or ancient-jungling.
I build my BM as following: (Note that this is the way I build him, may not fit for everybody)
Start: a mix of Branches, gauntlet(s), salve+tango always, toss in a Stoutshield if you want to.
Early core: (during the 1st 6-10 mins of the game) Wand, Soul ring, boots and if you're ganking; toss in an Urn of Shadows or Medallion of Courage (DON'T FORGER TO USE THEM DURING GANKS!!!)
Once you have early core, farm straight for Boots of Travel in ancient camp. This helps you ganking by alot and adds in extra mobility in fights.
Core items after BoT: Either Aghanim or Blink dagger, usually blink is better choise, but it's personal preference, you can get both items too. In some cases Shadow Blade works well on him too. Add a Necronomicon (Book) if you have half-decent micro.
So You should have about these items: BoT, Urn/Medallion (or both), Blink/Aghanim's, (Necronomicon)
Next up you can go 2 ways.
Traditional way is to stack aura items, for Example: Vlad, Assault Cuirass, Drum, Pipe.
If you're the one fed in your team, toss in some +STR/damage items, like: Heaven's Halberd, Heart or Skull Basher.
Basher is above average on Beastmaster due to 2 things, his great attack-animation = he can attack-move with relative ease, thus making his chasing potential great (along with Boar's slowing attacks). This combined with his Atspeed aura he hits fast as fuck, increasing the chances of a bash occuring.
Other notable items, but usually aren't that good on him:
Mask of Madness (only if you got a basher, and enemy isn't focusing you and you are relatively tanky.)
Monkey king bar (Don't get this if you already have basher tough)
Armlet (Good on every STR hero who relies on autoattacks for at least a tiny bit. Just remember how to activate/deactivate it. Also you should read how it works before touching this item.)
Daedalus (Expensive, but if you are for some reason farmed as fuck and carrying shit, get it.)
Mjöllnir (Another item which scales well with attackspeed, the active is also amazing when casted on you)
Just to give an general item build for lategame, if you don't know wtf is going on:
Boots, Medallion, Drum, Blink, Aghanim, Heart. (Build in this order).
Gameplay is along sitting in lane, you basically need a few lasthits for boots and Medallion or Urn, after that start ganking everywhere once you hit 6+.
Spell ranking order should be getting at least 3 points in Summons (W) for the greater hawk as early as possible. Have both Axes and Summons maxed at 9 with one point in Ult (None at aura until this point)
So basically; don't get any ranks in Aura (E) until you have the first 2 spells maxed out.
Ganks: TP/Walk to another lane when you're around 6-8 with your boots + Medallion/Urn. (Don't forget to inform your mates that you are ganking the lane)
Focus the squishiest target, or the carry. Carry being higher priority.
You should approach from the (enemy) woods, not straight from your tower, flank behind them.
Start by calling your summons, make the Boar attack your target. Follow up by using Medallion (or Urn charge) and roaring his face inside-out, finish up with either throwing axes or walking next to them and start attacking them.
[Advanced shit: Move in-between your attacks, try to go into their walking path to block their movement with your body, with your Boar slowing your guy, this should be easily done. Zig-zag in front of them while bashing their face in. (Or just keep hitting Mouse2 on them if this is too hard.)]
If you had any followup from your mates, you should have a kill by now. Graz you just ganked somebody. Now you can go on the tower or go to your base to heal up and prepare for your next gank. Same rumba all over again, not going to explain this again.
In big teamfights, it's mostly the same as ganking, but don't run head-1st into the AoE spells of the enemy, let your initiator start the fight if you have one, like Tide or Sandking. If you don't have core initiator, you start off by Roaring their carry and throw axes at as many guys as you can. Then you just try to kill their carry off before they do anything big.
If some squishy support comes into your way during fights, like CM or Lich you can try to kill them too, but your 1st priority should be killing the carry 1st. After that kill the people who are left out and then push a tower, which should be easy with your Attackspeed aura you should get a tower in no time. If you get initiated on, your main focus is to protect your own carry by roaring the guy who jumped on him.
Other things to mention: Whenever you summon something, put your hawk at the nearest runespot, this helps your team by a large margin.
If somebody you are ganking goes into a thick forest (like the one above Dire's toplane) you can clear the trees with your Axe-throw.
Don't underestimate the slow your Boar can put out, it can sometimes be gamebreaking for something like Skeleton king or Ursa on enemy team who can't shrug it off easily.
Beastmaster is hard-ish guy to play, but well worth the practise.
I hate those people who dont talk, who just constantly ping spam to communicate

If they have mental capacity to install steam and install Dota, they do usually know at least enough english to say that they don't know english. In that case, I can respect that. If they just stay silent, despite me both typing and speaking over VOIP ,I feel like I am being neglected.

Did something happen to Lina's cast range of LSA?
Yesterday had an extremely shitty match. Mid against razor, I could NOT land a SINGLE LSA on him.
I felt like I literaly had non existant range, and whenever I casted LSA, he ALWAYS dodged it.
EVERY.GODDAMN.TIME
I ended up getting killed by him a buttload of times, and everything went to hell because of me...
How do I enable the range finder?
"dota_range_display n" in console
where n is the desired range
Is there any way to enable anti-aliasing? The option "Enable anti-aliasing" is about as good as "network quality"
Koreans and russians on EU servers telling me to fuck back to my home country... When will this torture end? We need a virtual Berlin Wall in Dota 2.
I chose to take blink dagger at 33minute instead of at 8minute because I let Drow go mid. I was Tiny.
Obviously we lost.
Play Pudge because I'm sick of bad players picking him and doing well, I gank 5 times in 10 minutes, still lose.
Why are people so bad?

Honestly, if your team was decent enough to set up those ganks without pushing the enemies to tower, then it probably at least partially your fault. A Pudge with that many ganks by ten minutes should be taking control of the mid game by himself unless his team is totally retarded.

Have you thought that
maybe
you might not be the best Pudge player to ever walk the earth.

You rushed BoTs and Aghs over a Hood when the enemy team had Lina AND QoP.
That is partially ur fault mang.

AUTOMERGEEEE
Watching Skane vs Fnatic game, Wisp tethers Earth brewling, TP ends and wisp goes back to top lane. Earth brewling stays bot, ult ends and brewmaster appears top lane.
Both V1lat and Notah have no idea what happened.

Your item build was still awful.
If you had gone for a Phase/Arcanes + Pipe instead of Travels + Aghs, your team would have done much, much better. You pipe would have swung the teamfights into your favor massively.
You are completely blaming the team for something that was in a very big part your fault.
So after not having played her for a long long time, Myself and Jrock decided to try vengeful supporting various Heros
I'm in LOVE with vengeful now. 4 games won in a row.

Also it seems like you ganked mostly supports. Dat jugger and QoP farmed quite well.
