Something tells me that the picking phase in Captain's Mode is almost like the most important part of the game. So therefor I ask some of you competitive-pals that, how the fuck are you supposed to weight the options between what Heroes work together and what Heroes you want to ban because your team comp doesn't want to meet them. It's annoying when our 5-party captains mode goes fucked up because we can't really plan the picking of our team, and the enemy's team.
just stack disables. it works.
when its an hour long ultra close game i dont mind losing, at least those things you can learn off of them, and they're actually fun, instead of waiting for them to end cause your team fed a riki or ursa [editline]20th October 2012[/editline] Had a game like that today got bane in a single draft and played mid - the other team really knew what they were doing and their puck and gyro kept harrassing the shit out of me early game which was annoying Our ancient was a tower away from being vulnerable then we won a teamfight at the 55 minute mark and just destroyed theirs. We both had a good balance of support/carries and teamfights were so back and forth it was just awesome fun.
Rhose are easily the best kind of games. Disabler/initiator/nukers like enigma, sand king, pugna always give me the best matches. Last sand king game I had, I made some of the best escapes ever, from an ogre magi and a void chasing me like hell, burrowstrike after sandstorm after blink, with awesome epi+burrow+sandstorm combos for the most damage and disabling possible. They were a bit dumb because they never dusted or countered my invisi but still, pretty awesome game. Me and my buddy had the least deaths aswell, and it was a very close match if I recall correctly. We were down to our ancient and top T4 tower. I still remember this game with enigma where the whole enemy team went to roshan. I rushed there, and even with my team still a couple of seconds away, blinked in, layed a midnight pulse and ulti'd their whole team, buying enough time for my team to reach them and damaging them enough for my team mates to finish them off without a single loss. Sadly, haven't been able to get a good enigma game for a long time, due to bad team decisions like having 3 junglers who then force me to suicide lane alone vs magnataur and viper and voids acting so pro that they even cancel out my own ulti... Pugna also had a really cool comeback. We were getting pretty hammered, close to losing with only 2 towers left or something, when we suddenly won a team fight, they got huge respawning times of like 70 seconds and apparently no buy back, I rushed down to mid radiant and together with maybe 2 more from my team, destroyed T2, T3, barracks, both T4s and their ancient in like 1 minute alone. That's how fucking powerfull nether blast is to buildings. Those are the kinds of games that I just LOVE. [editline]20th October 2012[/editline]
just stack disables. it works.
We usually lose because we don't have a single reliable disable.
help help I can't stop stomping pretty much every chaos knight game i play fuuug
help help I can't stop stomping pretty much every chaos knight game i play fuuug
It feels like you're saying that playing CK is hard. :v:
play doom again i like doom even though im shit with him [editline]20th October 2012[/editline] actually fuck that play nyx
Oh god, joined a game earlier, turned out to be single draft, decided to try Tinker for the first time. i have never had so much fun in a single game of dota [sup][sup][sup]science, in action![/sup][/sup][/sup]
i have a love hate relationship with single draft, i either get three people i really want to play and cant choose, or i get 3 heroes i've never played/are shit at
We usually lose because we don't have a single reliable disable.
Everything is so easy when you have 5 reliable disables.
A while ago I played a cm game(5 man premade). So on the draft the enemy teams is picking supports only (shadow shaman, cm, lion, dazzle) and we have no idea whats going on so we go for the draft as usual. Enemy team last picks Ursa, my whole team laughs at them so much, calls gg in chat. we got mauled so badly that we lost in 20 minutes [editline]20th October 2012[/editline] fucking disablers
huskar vs a nyx and axe w/ blademail was a funny game
It's entirely subjective. Does enemy team have good Chen player ? Does enemy team have good Invoker ? Can you play against good Dark Seer ? Do you have good Dragon Knight player ? It all depends, for example you might have good Riki player, and you want to protect him and get him to late game stage. You might want to ban Bounty Hunter, Slardar possibly. If you grab teamfight-aoe hero like Enigma you might want to get rid of Tidehunter who can break it if not caught inside. Your Enigma player is very good and enemies are aware of it ? Ban Vengeful Spirit and Beast Master (long range stuns that go through BKB and one does so with linkens too). If it's general match and no idea who's on the opposite side, ban entirely based on your own picks, or if enemy shows some simple start. Like if they pick Chen, Prophet and Veno, you better ban that Leshrac.
Yeah, kinda hard in practice though when the seconds are rolling during the picking phase. And Dark Seer, Enigma and Naga are as good as ever. Just lost against them. It was pretty even 49-50 before we lost, or so. No one even thought about banning them when we saw their bans and we had banned a few Heroes ourselves. And it seems like a very bad fucking idea to choose picks before the picking phase even happens. Or if you choose your picks before game starts, you better choose what you ban as well. So maybe that's crucial to know before anything happens.
Oh god, joined a game earlier, turned out to be single draft, decided to try Tinker for the first time. i have never had so much fun in a single game of dota [sup][sup][sup]science, in action![/sup][/sup][/sup]
Tinker is an amazing hero. He can solo anyone late game if he has a sheepstick. (and they don't have a bkb)
Everything is so easy when you have 5 reliable disables.
Suddenly, BKB's!
Suddenly, BKB's!
suddenly, diffusal blade!
Bad luck streak comes back. What is it with my team never picking things that can actually disable people? It can't be that hard to get a team that actually wins, can it?
Full team of disablers is brutal. Jakiro, Tiny, Bane, SK, DK. I can use just Ice Path like 4 times in a fight.
suddenly, diffusal blade!
I thought diffusal only purged Omniknights BKB?
I thought diffusal only purged Omniknights BKB?
this is correct you cannot purge avatar (bkb), rage or blade fury.
-snip-
this is correct you cannot purge avatar (bkb), rage or blade fury.
or scorched earth
I decided to try Jungle Magnus in a bot match. Worked surprisingly well. Too bad I can't think of any reason to do it in a game with people in the first place.
how does that work, exactly? really curious here
Suddenly, BKB's!
suddenly the enemy team spent 3900 gold delaying their core items 3900 is a lot of gold for non-carries you know [editline]20th October 2012[/editline] especially when they`re constantly losing money when GETTING CHAINED BY 5 DISABLES

So, I got a Dota invite from my friend and gave it to my other friend. After installing it (2 GB), he said that he had only spectator mode avaible. What's the problem?
Sorry for league but
invoker's face still gets me [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] i would kill to look like invoker, i dont care if i have fucking Link ears if I looked like invoker i'd furiously masturbate to my own reflection
Ahhhh so satisfying to turtle a game with 4 carries as their only support, Lina, owned early game got my items and said "OK GUYS, JUST TURTLE, GET BKBS AND THEN WE FIGHT" And they actually listened to me! They backed when I said "QoP/Veno is going to your location", their last hitting was not bad at all and they knew their targets in teamfights, I also warded everywhere so they could farm safely and we managed to break even on teamfights thanks to Silencers ulti(So good against magic damage enemies at the early-mid game, totally underrated) and we turtled until PA was out of control and we just dominated all teamfights thanks to the BKBs, Silencers ulti and Doombringer's doom. It feels so good to coordinate a perfect teamfight with people I never meet, this really pushes your skills in timing and communication to the max and this is why i like solo queue so much.
Yeah, I gotta say solo-queing is so much more fun than 5-party vs. 5-party try-hard captain's mode. Or maybe captains mode competitive games would be funnier if your own team actually knows what to ban for their picks.
