Also I know I'm terrible at the game and know shit all, but can someone explain some of the buffs? Like changing Doom's ult from 13 to 14 seconds, you'd think that just that one second compared to the other 13 be so insignificant that there isn't really a point of changing it? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious because it just seems like such an insignificant change

You don't know insignificant changes 'til you've seen WoT buffs. An extra 0.1 seconds aiming time and a bonus 0.6km/h top speed for artillery, now [I]that's[/I] great!
Either way, an extra second of spell blocking can mean a fair bit in terms of how quickly the target can escape, heal, invuln, slow, stun, so on and so forth. I know I've been saved a fair few times by having stuns and spell blocks wear off in time for me to use things like shallow grave, and I suppose it's just a bit more helpful in the long term.

The game will try pair you up with people on similar levels and similar skill brackets, and sometimes fail miserably.

Well, I did a quick search and found the map, but it's not very detailed at all. It only really shows the general regions, no details such as mountains, features and locations, although I'd imagine it's difficult to piece together entire locations from the brief descriptions in the lore given, where all there really is is character and race outlines, with a few exceptions.[url=http://dota2.gk99.com/eng_map/] It's here if you're interested.[/url]

Ooooh, I really want to try Meepo at some point, but at the same time I don't ever want to hit random and be thrown into a game as him. I'm dreadful at multitasking and micromanaging, but he seems both surprisingly fun and hellishly impossible at the same time.

She probably isn't human, although there are plenty of humanoids in Dota. It's also mentioned that she only lived with the Drow, as you probably know already, and if Batrider's an example of a goblin then I think we can rule out that possibility.
