I'm mostly buying this on the PC because I want the next game to just be made for the PC alongside the console versions. And DarK Souls on the PC is just something I've wanted for a long time.
Gosh this thread will be filled with new people when it gets released on pc.
All thread about the pc edition of Dark Souls ends in a hatewar between pc and consoles, why can't everyone enjoy the fucking game.
Won't all versions essentially be limited to 30fps? That kind of detracts from the idea of "hurr hurr PC so much better 'cause it's upgradable." The only thing I could see done better with PCs is the speed at which the game renders 'cause it slows down really easily on consoles when there're a lot of particle effects (i.e. blood).
I don't see why it would have to be locked at 30 just cause the console ones are locked at 30.
Am I a bad person for wanting to pirate it for PC since I already bought the game (and am going to buy the DLC) for xbox?
I bought both limited editions for xbox and ps3 so i'm considering getting it retail for the pc.
But i feel yas.
Theres this thing called money... I have none.
Actually that's a lie, because I've been making like $2-3 a day from Diablo 3, so If I make the $60 to get Borderlands 2, I'll start saving for DkS for PC. I really want to support Fromsoft as much as I can, but I'm living paycheck to paycheck right now.=S

After reading that I sound with a fag with bad priorities. Feels good man.

Sometimes it's easier to program things if you can just assume that 1/30th of a second or whatever passed between each frame. That way you can just say "move 1 unit each frame" instead of having something move "30*time between frames" units each frame. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics, but things like that can definitely help if it's close to the limits of a console, and could require a good deal of rewriting to change.

Additionally it makes the physics more consistent. Sure Blighttown was bad, but at least you weren't teleporting all over.
Earlier today I jumped into lower burg from upper burg. Apparently if you do it without opening the shortcuts the game still thinks you're in upper. So basically I went human and glitches out and then laughed as I got continually invaded and was never found. :v:

You can also get out of Darkroot Garden when you get invaded. You need quite a lot of health though, but the drop will take you down to where the Hydra is, and you can walk back to the bonfire if you want.
Is it just me or is Anor Londo the least interesting or fun area?
Literally every enemy is either a mini-boss or incredibly close to being a boss, and the actual boss fight is more full of bullshit than it is actual difficulty.
Plus, it is incredibly annoying that, if you die before getting to the bonfire within the castle, you have to spend 5 minutes running from the 1st bonfire just to get to the main door.
And then there's the Silver Archer guys on the ledge that you can't be hit by even once.
I was able to beat the Taurus demon in a straight fight thanks to pyromancy, and now I've gotten as far as clearing out the bottom floor of the church in the Undead Parish before I had to retreat to Firelink to do something with the souls before I fucked up and lost them.
How do you beat the guy in the staircase of the church that parries attacks? Last time I tried he instantly parried my first attack and one-shotted me...
They hold their swords up in a certain way when they are ready to parry. wait for them to not do that, parry or just block them and then go in for a few hits. but not too many or youll get parried
I never bothered to play NG+, I always restarted a new character. Finally I decided to play on and holy fuck I thought at first that it was a piece of cake, but enemies can hit so hard. In NG+ it is more about avoiding hits.

Also you can kick them (forward + r1) and it should give you an opening. Works for everyone with shields. Works in pvp, too. It's a good skill to have.
God, I hate those assholes in the Forest convenant, they just invade your ass while fighting 2 guys. I had to fight 2 npcs and one invader, fortunately I made it thanks to pyromancy. But then another one invaded. So I used a prayer emotion to greet him. He just hittet me 2 times with the axe, luckily I could backstab him right after that.
PvP is awesome, but with lag it is just a pain in the arse. I got stabbed in the back and my enemy was in front of me.
I would suggest not bowing in the forest. Usually, dueling rules are off there.
Well, I thought so. I like to duel a lot, but I constantly get invaded by 2 or 3 guys simultaniously. Making it unable for me to defend myself.
Once you get really good, though, 2v1s are so fun. 3v1s are hectic though.
Well I have played Dark Souls for a long time now, I just never bothered with the mulitplayer component. A lot of people always took the ninja ring and the hornet ring, the somewhat laggy backstab will then fuck you up. Those are usable and fair items, it is just annoying to see someone in Havels armor doing ninja backflips.
[editline]15th July 2012[/editline]
I despise how the backstab is handled in multiplayer, I have been several times right behind an enemy. I attacked but my character only executed a normal attack. And as soon as my back is somewhat lightly behind my enemy. I get instantly crushed.

You can also just use a jump attack. Those can't be parried.
So I was placing my invade sign near the place where you get the BB, when I got summoned to the world of this guy wearing no clothing. Now I though this was kinda odd, but I bowed and prepared for a fight, but instead of fighting he dropped me some humanity and pointed up at the higher part (I was on the flat where you enter the area) then he went over to where the spearmen are and turned into a barrel (Love that spell) Moments later another dark spirit invaded and we duked out in a duel, after I won (Almost lost, guy had fucking full havel with some sort of energy beam sword, Shot attacks of blue energy) but alas I delivered the fatal blow. The gamemaster (as I call him) did the hiphiphooray emote and gave me more humanity and sent me home.
I ran into twice, the second time he gave me 10 humanity and then I lost the fight and went home, 10 humanity richer
Has the console DLC date been announced yet? I can't seem to find any solid info online.
This gotta be a fucking joke. Just when I finally reach the fucking last boss in the game my PS3 dies on me. Yellow light, red blinking n' shit. Why is it always me? Can't get the game out of there either. Hammer time.
I am currently watching a blind LP of a guy playing Dark Souls. It is so funny to watch, he knows nothing besides of what he experienced in Demon Souls.
At one point he is so afraid to go into Blighttown that he decides to go into the Darkroot forest, Darkroot basin. Kills everything :v: then he kills Sif and all the NPCs. Afterwards he moves on to the Catacombs and goes to the Tomb of Giants. Then he is shitlessly scared by those glowing eyes. Then he proceeds to take on New Londo :v:
Blighttown is easier than those areas. Nevertheless it is jolly fun to watch him.

Jzzb please do not start this.
Anyway have you guys ever used the Drake Sword or that Ninja ring? I never bothered to get those, the Drake Sword seems so powerful and it looks really bad in my opinion. I prefered a normal sword to it.

The point was that changing those would make porting the game harder, and it's a lot to expect of a company that has never done anything on pc before.
I used the drake sword back when I first started. It's kind of funny looking back on it, I was having so much trouble with the parish I had to get it. I started using the ninja ring when I realized I could almost wear full havels with my favorite shield and weapon and be under 50%. I love doing that, it makes me feel so ridiculous. The flips definitely help, especially against certain bosses.

I've never used the Drake sword, but apparently it's only useful early game until you can get a decent weapon upgraded a bit. (I think it's mostly useful until Sens). I've finished a NG+ game without the use of the ninja ring (or a shield).
Well, I thought it was kind of lame ot have it that early. Also shooting the dragontail with a bow is annoying. How do you even get that ninja ring, it has something to do with the forest convenant and that ninja that appears near the eastern guy.
I just can't stand fighting other players.
I always get stuck with some asshat who only wants to back stab me and nothing else.
Was level 21. Invaded someone's world for the fuck of it. I enter their world only to see them die from a simple crissbow-wielding hollow.
I gain 48,000 souls. Wootwoot.

Really, I always find people who bow and fight fair.
Except for that fucking force spell. GAWHABBEIFQE
