So I'm planning to achievement whore this game pretty much :v Working my way for the Rare Weapons though I've already lost two by knocking Paladin Leeroy off the edge in Tomb of Giants on NG+ so thats gonna take another run through. Other than that, I'm missing about 4 achievements in total :v
Just posting to say that Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is 20% off for 24 hours at greenmangaming, so now's a good time to pick it up!
Fuck yeah, I beat Ornstein and Smough on my first try on my new playthrough, using a uchigatana and a bow. It was really intense but amazing, especially when you solo them.
PC manual is out. http://cdn.steampowered.com/Manuals/211420/DARKSOULS_PC_MANUAL_ANZ.pdf?t=1344010093 You can change the key bindings. Also, if you go over 30 seconds with only 15 fps, the game will disconnect you and return you to the title.
Oh great, so people with low spec machines or people who minimize their game are going to be disconnected, just like GTA IV
I don't mind that. I'd rather not duel any Brazilians with shit computers.

Ok, fine, but it better go to 15 only when the hardware is the cause. I don't want to see a GTX680 with Ivy Bridge staying around 15 because the optimization is shit.
That voucher expired at 11AM. Gaaaaaaay.
I would think and hope that if they implemented that, that would mean it's not locked at 30FPS and has been improved.
Googled another GMG voucher for 25% off but I don't know if it works. PCGMR-ALLIN-GREEN
I'm not hallucinating that path to settings files in the PC manual am I? That is a good thing.
I just watched the infamous LP of Dark Souls with James from Gamefront. Honestly it is so lame, I understand that a novice getting owned at the game is really entertaining, but he is so bad, after tons of hours of gameplay he still doesn't know the basic stuff. He just mashes his buttons all the time, by the end he only managed to kill anything because he was so insanely overleveled and overpowered that he insta killed everything.

Tarkus build is not best build for Lord Gwyn, getting launched into the air was a common occurrence. But a heavy armor build is great for NG+, because you need to be able to block or dodge most boss attacks, considering they nearly always kill you.
someone sell it to me.
the game is good As long as you have the capacity to be patient and understand why you're dying the first time through, you'll only have more fun with each subsequent playthrough. There's so many things you can experiment with, and for as long as I've played the game I've still yet to find that perfect set of gear.
There is no perfect set of gear as you can always switch poise and defense for swag, and even then the swag is in the eye of the beholder.
I just bought this again on Steam, fuck yeah. I already 1000 pointed it on 360 and I think it deserves more of my money. Jackald, not everyone finds this game fun, but I'll explain why I loved it so much. Amazing atmosphere, really fun gameplay and a perfect balance of difficulty. I think it's a challenge without being frustrating. You'll die a lot your first time playing but you'll always be making progress rather than reverting to a previous save. You'll die, and the punishment is losing all your souls and humanity, that's the challenge. But instead of permanently losing that, you still have the chance of getting that stuff back from your corpse, and if you succeed you've got your reward and can continue forward with a stronger character. The online features were pretty awesome too, occasionally seeing other player's ghosts and signs was cool. It always reminded you that other people are facing the same challenges and it gives you a bigger feeling of accomplishment once you finally reach another area, which may or may not contain a helpful NPC, bonfire, or another boss waiting to fuck you up (or give you tons of souls)
Fuckit, time to impulse buy. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] Never played Dark Souls or Demons souls or anything or even seen gameplay really, someone sell it to me.
It's one of those few games where when you die, you know it's your fault, and not some bullshit that happened in game (Well, except for the Dragon in Undead Burg), and it makes you want to work on improving. Also, that feeling of satisfaction when killing a boss you've been stuck on for so long is one of the greatest (video game related) feelings ever. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline]
Is it worse the DSPGaming's playthrough? It's not exactly right to say that your death is always your fault. There's quite a few instances where my death was literally the game's fault. One that gets me constantly is a glitch that stops me from attacking or using items until I hold my shield up, at which point I will automatically perform the action I was just trying to do. I'll then get stuck attacking or restoring health at the wrong moment, usually ending up dead. There's no warning or reason, it just happens.

Are you sure your controller isn't fucked?
Yeah, DSP isn't very good at games. I remember watching him spend 40 minutes trying to complete a really easy puzzle in Portal 2.
It's not his fault, it's the game's fault!!
I'm pretty sure he's talking about in normal circumstances. I've never had that glitch or heard of that glitch that you describe. Happens to me from time to time. Usually brings death to me. Once it killed a Dark Wraith for me though.
its not his controller. that used to happen to me all the fucking time and got me killed more times than i can count
I don't know if I've ever had exactly what he described, but there was something that would always bug me. Like I'd hit a button to attack or something but it wouldn't happen. I'd go on and do whatever in the same fight, and it's like a couple seconds later the attack would come back and I'd do a fucking stupid attack that would get me hit or killed.
There is no perfect set of gear as you can always switch poise and defense for swag, and even then the swag is in the eye of the beholder.
Well I meant perfect in the sense of personal preference, having a "favorite" everything.
so i came up with a challenge and thought i'd share it with you, some of you may have done it before or maybe not. also sorry about the size the large thumbnail (imgur) messed up the picture so i had to use the original size
I don't know if scavenger is the right name for this.
How about the resourceful challenge?
