Attachment Selective Conservative
Attachment Selective Conservative
Attachment sounds best to me.
That reminds me that I'm trying to play through with warrior starting gear (and nothing else) and no spells/elemental upgrades allowed.
Soulbound weapons. I'll have to try this tomorrow when I can. :)
Fuckit, time to impulse buy. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] Never played Dark Souls or Demons souls or anything or even seen gameplay really, someone sell it to me.
You know when games hype up a boss trying to scare you and you go "Yeah yeah right just let me kill him"? Well in Dark Souls you are actually afraid of bosses. It's not always fair (WHEEL SKELETONS IN TUNNELS ARGH), but it is most of the time. Still, if you are one of those that don't like a challenge, you won't like this. Oh it's also more about patience than reflexes. If you are impatient and act impulsively you'll die, very quickly too (had a friend that did this, no patience at all and couldn't hold himself from attacking at least once every 3 seconds, he gave up a bit before the Capra).

Scavenger challenge seems dumb, I do not want to play the entire game in some undead warrior clothes that look like shit, besides it doesn't cover the hideous hollowed form. Seems lame.
Is anyone else waiting for PC reviews before purchasing? Also, I'm in NZ and the price shot up $20USD overnight a few weeks back, so I'll see if I can get it via proxy on another account and gift it to myself if it is any good. I've already got it on Xbox, but never got XBL, and for less than the price of an XBL subscription, I can get the PC version of Dark Souls and not have to worry about setting up my Xbox with an ugly cable from the lounge to the living room.

I could see it being really interesting if you pick up a weapon that you don't meet the requirements for yet. That would make the game even harder...
gaping dragon is so badass, i just love how he became so hungry that his stomach turned into a giant mouth of death
Apparently the new Black Dragon has a similar thing going on, as in it was once a great everlasting dragon but it got affected by some emotion/desire thus turning it into what it is now.
Is there a place where I can pre-order/reserve a retail copy of prepare to die because I want all the cool shit and the only places I can get it from right now only offer it as a download.
Could someone give me some advice on this character build I'm working on. Its going to be a cleric of Velka but i'm just wondering if there's anything I could add to improve it. Also what rings should I use ? ---> Link <---
I looked for you on some Canadian and EU domains of sites like Amazon and stuff but I can't find an actual pre-order for a physical copy. You may have to wait till release to find it in a physical form, you could try requesting it from your local game stores and department stores maybe?
I remember trying to look for a physical preorder too but I couldn't. Wasn't there a thing where you got some DaS mouse if you preordered the collectors edition or something?
That was only if you bought the game here: https://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-157565-Dark-Souls-Prepare-to-Die-Edition-PC It looks like they sell the copy with the book, if you can buy from there.

There are so many and can be combined into unique sets. It would be shit for me to leave that whole aspect out.
Just bought from GreenManGaming, 25% off fuck yeah Since you activate it on steam, does that mean you don't have to deal with GFWL service? I fucking hate windowslive.. hopefully steamworks handles the DRM

Found a pretty interesting video regarding critical damage: For the longest time I thought the mail breaker would have done more backstab/riposte damage than a rapier due to the crit bonus, turns out I was wrong. This is going to affect a good amount of my characters.
You can parry with the mail breaker, though.
Huh? You can parry with rapiers too. I'm talking about the weapon doing the backstabs/ripostes.
Oh yeah, I forgot you could parry with a rapier. The animation is just so weird I never thought of it as a a parry.
RPS put up a hands-on for the PC version: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08/09/hands-on-dark-souls-prepare-to-die-edition/#more-119215

This is good! Wish they had of talked about if the frame limit was in there and more about the options available.
I want to know what they did to the PvP. It's eating me up inside
Fuck yes!
To cut to the chase, the frame-rate on consoles has always been a major area of complaint among Dark Souls fans, and the notorious Blight Town or New Londo Ruins areas are usually singled out as the big offenders. The implication of a PC release is obviously that all these problems can be tackled by the brute force of a faster CPU, and though there are very light hitches here and there, it's a relief to say Blight Town now plays without all the constant chugging.
Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-09-dark-souls-pc-preview-the-devils-bargain
They would have mentioned a frame limiter if there was one. All he said was that the FPS did fluctuate in certain areas which is reasonable. A good sign was that the preview was more focused on the game and not on the technical aspects of it which leads me to believe that it's a sufficient port. [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-09-dark-souls-pc-preview-the-devils-bargain Hilights:
it's a relief to say Blight Town now plays without all the constant chugging.

There's also something curious about the resolution too in that there's no change in clarity when attempting to crank up the settings. On close inspection, it appears that Dark Souls PC uses the very same 1024x720 internal framebuffer as the console versions, regardless of which resolution has been set in the menus.

options are pretty meagre overall on this front; you have the standard resolution and refresh rate settings (it does nothing to solve this), and also check-boxes to remove anti aliasing or motion blur. Barebones and to the point.
While the frame-rate's rough edges have been filed down, you're still going to be playing at 30FPS out of the box, as widely rumoured. A graphics menu has been added in, but there are no obvious ways to raise the bar to the preferable 60FPS mark. In fact, options are pretty meagre overall on this front; you have the standard resolution and refresh rate settings (it does nothing to solve this), and also check-boxes to remove anti aliasing or motion blur. Barebones and to the point.
So there's good and bad news, but the bad news is nothing we didn't know was coming.
