I'd rather kill them for the souls and the item in their chest.
You can also use a Lloyd's Talisman around mimics and it'll turn them into regular chests. I'm not sure if it works if you've already attacked them though...
It does, you can actually stock up on them and keep hitting the chests with a weak weapon and use the talismans over and over to grind for the symbol of avarice.
What does avarice even mean? Greed? Hunger? Insatiable? Does grinding L and R triggers when you're grappled help at all? I've noticed a difference between doing it and not doing it, with the most notable sign being that my character is immediately on their feet once it ends and not flat on the ground.
I always look at the chain.
I never noticed!
I love how dark souls gives you a classic rpg feel in those kinds of things. I mean, "you gotta check the chest's chain!" Or "you gotta use divine weapons to kill the skeletons!" Really nostalgic stuff.

I just killed the asshole brigade (Smough and Orenstein or however you spell it) In one try
how the fuck
I always look at the chain.
I usually just attack every chest I see. If it's a Mimic, I got the first shot. If it's a chest, no harm done. [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] No harm aside from feeling kind of silly that you just thwacked an inanimate object as hard as you could, I mean.
3 more days and someone needs to get a mod to add "PC" to the title. Controller at the ready, can't wait.
I hope GMG releases the keys soon I want to preload it or at least play it the same day it launches
3 more days and someone needs to get a mod to add "PC" to the title. Controller at the ready, can't wait.
Going to try keyboard and mouse controls first. Judging from the manual they don't seem all that bad.
I'll definitely record a video of me playing through to at least the Firelink Shrine with keyboard controls. Depending on how people like it, I might do a whole Let's Play.
Can someone explain how the fuck to parry on the PS3?
Can someone explain how the fuck to parry on the PS3?
Hope you get lucky or learn the timing of of people attacking you. Or do you mean what buttons?
Someone should maybe make a whole new thread with new info on the prepare to die version in the OP too instead of just changing the title.
I can re-edit the thread. also i messaged a Mod, Hopefully he can change the thread title, or i can just restart a new thread with a new thread name and some added content to the op. hate to be a ratings whore but. agree to keep this thread disagree to make a new one or just tell me what you think :v: edit* Wow im a fucking idiot...i just noticed while editing the page that i could change the title myself :suicide:
If you can edit this there's not really much point in another I guess :v:
Pretty much.
So Darkwraiths are officially one of the easiest enemies to farm in NG+. Seriously, it's so easy to just backstab them for a one hit kill. I almost think this game could have had a little better scaling of enemies through the playthroughs. It would be bad ass if you came across special enemies that are bigger, holding a special weapon, or are just buffed with elec/fire/poison damage. Imagine how much more exciting the game would be if you went into an area you've cleared so much it's just routine, and half way in there's a mini boss waiting for you.
The game is fun, but by no means perfect. I can think of several things that can be improved, added, or fixed.

My little brother is a ridiculous sore loser at this game. He joined Blades of the Darkmoon and lost fair and square, but bangs and gets overly frustrated over nothing at 5:22 AM in the morning when everyone is asleep. Watching him play Dark Souls is ridiculous. [editline]21st August 2012[/editline] He just rage quit and left the room. It's like he has steam coming out of his ears. What the fuck? [editline]21st August 2012[/editline] Seriously, I've never gotten that mad at Dark Souls. I never even got visibly frustrated.

Record him and post it for our amusements.
Any detailed PC impressions or reviews yet? I've been planning to pre-order this, but since there's no advantage to pre-ordering beyond playing the minute it comes out (I.E. no discount or TF2 items :v:) I'm thinking I'll probably just wait to see how good the port is before I drop $40.
Should have seen me the first time I was trying to get past those fucking archers. I'm not proud of that moment at all.
I remember I actually got across easily on my first try. I return to that area later and literally shout "How the fuck did I do this last time!?"
i actually got lucky in Anor Londo because I had summoned two phantoms adn oneof them went way ahead while the other phantom and I were exploring and he had opened the church door. Then we all got killed by some guy with a katana.
Decided to see if it was possible to one hit kill gwyn. You totally can. I equipped the red tear stone ring and the hornet ring and cast power of within except this time instead of using a +9 fire hand axe I used a +10 fire great axe. The funny thing about buffs is that it doesn't stack it multiplies. Thus it multiplied my damage by 3.15 So I parried his first attack and the first of the two hits dealt 800 damage followed by a hit dealing 3300. I'm not sure if that was the actual damage of the attack though, it could be that it couldn't display more damage then gwyn had hp. Either way hilarious. The best part is CMW also gets it damage buffed by all these multipliers so I haven't even scratched the surface.

According to eurogamer even though this port is poor, it's still the superior version because any problems this has the console has too. You've got the advantage of knowing it's a good game from playing it on console, and you know the problems don't ruin the game. (Though I'd understand if you didn't want to buy a version that doesn't improve much on what you already have)
