Finally got the patch working. Not being able to see menu options is a shame but most of the ground messages were just "I'm not ready for this" so it doesn't matter that much.
It's a shame GFWL has never worked for, I really wanted to play this game, I loved Demon souls
Are the player ghosts you see (randomly, not bloodstains) people playing in real time?
It's a shame GFWL has never worked for, I really wanted to play this game, I loved Demon souls
I spent around 3 hours getting it to work in Dirt 2 before I purchased, a bloody hassle.

I know that because when I was co-oping with a friend, I'd occasionally see his ghost doing something he just did Also, has anyone found anything new yet? I'm just about to go into blighttown but I haven't seen any new areas.
Well, the Taurus demon was easier than I remembered, managed to waste my last Estus flask and got to him with half the life bar, thought I was dead but he went down relatively easily.
FROM basically expects you to use a gamepad.
Its called being a lazy porter, that's why I got a refund today from steam. I don't game a huge amount and I don't own a console so I shouldn't expected to go out of my way to buy a controller for one specific game.
Finally got all the PS3 controls set a bit ago, made my character and did the tutorial. This is actually more fun than the console versions for me, somehow.
I'm bad at this game.
Its called being a lazy porter, that's why I got a refund today from steam. I don't game a huge amount and I don't own a console so I shouldn't expected to go out of my way to buy a controller for one specific game.
Eh, if they have no experience, they have no experience. Why did you buy it when you knew this? And of course you should have to? Do you blindly buy games? If a game is aimed for consoles, it's obviously better with a pad.
To be honest, I don't really see there being any good control scheme for a keyboard on this game anyways, even if they did take their time.

It hurts the graphics quality a bit, but not as much as I expected, and at least for me, it restored the text. (Source: comments from the rez fix blog post.)

If they were being lazy about it they wouldn't have even done the port to begin with. Maybe you should read up on what you're buying, because then you would have knew that you'd want a controller for this game.
after the resolution scandal I don't really believe that anymore, a problem fixed in 23 minuets when they said it wasn't possible.
Now let's hope someone makes an optimization patch in 23 hours. Run pretty badly for me, can't get past the armored boar at all, I lag and move slowly and sluggishly, but everything else moves at normal speed.
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! Blightown FPS is just as low as console versions :D
after the resolution scandal I don't really believe that anymore, a problem fixed in 23 minuets when they said it wasn't possible.
Except it wasn't fixed in 23 minutes, even the guy who made it said so.
after the resolution scandal I don't really believe that anymore, a problem fixed in 23 minuets when they said it wasn't possible.

I did not do the entire work for this in 23 minutes. I developed an interception dll framework during this week to prepare for the job. I did the actual work to make the game render at higher res in that amount of time though -- based on the framework -- and spent a few more hours testing and adding the config file. Please refrain from disrespectful remarks like "lol Japanese development". There are plenty of Japanese developers that deliver technically excellent PC games.

after the resolution scandal I don't really believe that anymore, a problem fixed in 23 minuets when they said it wasn't possible.
Some guy claiming to be an Ubisoft dev said that it was probably a conscious decision because they assumed that a lot of things that were acceptable at 720p would look shitty at higher resolutions, or higher resolutions could cause a ton of effects to use up way more processing power than they should. So I don't think the issue is really so much that they thought it was impossible so much as they didn't want to have to even try to work out a whole ton of other stuff related to it. http://brokenforum.com/index.php?threads/dark-souls.294/page-43#post-208718 Then again it seems to work fine and why the hell would you trust porting advice from an Ubisoft dev? Has anyone gotten to Sif yet? He had claimed that the fur effects would probably be an issue in higher resolution.
I agree with Vasili, the PC controls are absolutely horrible and should've been fixed. Even something as simple as implementing mouse support without a cursor showing on the screen would've made them much better. But I also agree with this:
To be honest, I don't really see there being any good control scheme for a keyboard on this game anyways, even if they did take their time.
They'd have to completely rework the way the game plays to be suitable for a keyboard. Being able to select things inside the inventory and move at the same time, even with camera control, is something only a gamepad can do comfortably. I imagine that's why they decided not to work much with the controls, seeing as this port was just because of that petition. Mouse support was all they really needed for the controls not to feel completely broken, though. At least the game runs fine (for most). I just finished playing 8 hours straight with a friend without a single crash. Blighttown does seem to get a little laggy, but not nearly as laggy as the console version. I'm running on a GTX 280 in 1080p
Still at work, but what kind of controller would work best? I got a third-party controller (looks like Playstation controller) which I use for NES/N64/etc. emulators or Super Meat Boy but programmes sometimes have trouble with the right analog stick. Do you guys just use the Xbox controller or something?
okay even if it wasn't fixed in 23 minuets it was still fixed relatively quickly. They didn't even include a mouse sensitivity option, there are way more complicated types of genres that require more keys and mouse control than a controller and the game can easily work on this set up. They said the same about Batman Arkham city, how you needed to use a controller to play it properly but surprise surprise it worked flawlessly on a keyboard. I'd like to play but I'm simply not going to fork out extra money to play one specific game, I don't play racing games or other games that might work better with a controller so why buy one for a single game? I just like combat games like Mnb, WotR etc (which work great on a keyboard and mouse set up). From what I looked at with the key mappings a lot of it was already okay and worked great, some of it was just using the wrong key mapping or there wasn't a option included, I think people are forgetting keys can also double task (which no is not difficult to do). [editline]24th August 2012[/editline] I might rebuy the game if it ever goes on sale and I acquire a controller.
DSfix 0.2 is out and it fixes the text issue http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=101 [editline]24th August 2012[/editline] I was planning to do this build for shits n giggles Fang Boar Helm didnt drop The one time in my whole Dark Souls experience where this helm that I never wanted to use ever I actually needed it.
Now we just need to bypass the 30 fps cap
Anyone tried forcing stuff through Nvidia control panel and if it conflicts with the res fix?
You dont need to force anything through the control panel because the patch forces AA and AF making the game look sexy
Oh man just got through a really hard area (Hard for me at least). Have no health potions and a smidget of health when I'm just about to get to a bonfire and then I'm invaded for the first time. I proceeded to hide for 15 minutes before dieing to a random enemy I somehow missed. He was terrifying, just standing around waving a massive scythe like a maniac, for 15 goddamn minutes.
Is there any way to lock the cursor to your primary monitor? It's pretty fucking lame dying because the game tabs closed. I'm pretty fucking disappointed, a lot of friends said this was a great game but the experience has been largely ruined because of the shitty controls and lazy as fuck PC port. I'm a software developer myself, I can tell you this IS just a rushed product. To get a job in the games industry you need to be top-notch. Any programmer on their team should have been able to clear up a lot of the issues with this. I'd say the sloppiness was more due to the publisher not wanting them to commit a whole load of time to it.
How bad are the keyboard controls for this game?
How bad are the keyboard controls for this game?
Bad. This is not a game meant for keyboards.
They didn't even include a mouse sensitivity option,
Yes there is.
Anyone tried forcing stuff through Nvidia control panel and if it conflicts with the res fix?
yes apparently can fix the AA issues by forcing graphics options in the control panel, not sure on res. [editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
Yes there is.
i must be blind pls show
