Just normal attack while falling down.
I was really hoping for some better co-op for this version.
When me and my friend first started, it took about 20 minutes to see eachother's signs and summon eachother, after that the signs would appear immediately and we had no trouble co-oping. Six hours of playing without a problem.
Today, it took us three hours to finally summon eachother. I'm not too sure what the problem is, he seems to see signs fine and lives in Dubai. I'd only see like one or two signs at a time, but after a lot of failed summons I could finally see some, at least 6, and I summoned him. Then I had to restart the game to avoid a death because my controller fucked up. I couldn't see any signs for an hour before I decided to quit.
Do we have to forward any ports for this? I believe I've forwarded all the necessary GFWL ports.
Killed Hellkite Wyvern at level 23, (The dragon on the bridge.) Feels good man.
Anyone else had trouble with summons, by the way? 4 times out of 5, I get a "Summon Failed" message when I try to summon a phantom.
I've always had the same thing in the Xbox version. I had come to assume that it was normal.
Guess not.
I've played many characters in Dark Souls. Many fun ones. But the rogue/assassin type I'm playing now is just... So demanding, and thus WAY more rewarding.

Looks sexy as fuck as well.
Ok, I'm not terribly happy with this game right now and I think you guys will either find it funny or slightly irritating depending on how much you like to see me suffer.
So, my main character (a strength-focused Lightning Zweihander wielding badass) has finally realized that the Bed of Chaos is a foe that must, unfortunately, be dealt with. We've managed to destroy the two side orbs (and all it took was 20k souls and 2 humanity!), but apparently he forgot how to jump and always slides off of the branch/bridge thing or gets bitch slapped off the edge by Mr. Cranky Tree.
After a couple attempts, I realized that we weren't getting any farther tonight and I decided to start a new character and make him more of a dex character, something I've wanted to start for a while. I begin to get through the game and have just killed the Armored Boar when I'm invaded. I'm thinking "Ok, let's see what a low level invasion is like", having not really focused much on it with my other character. Here's the loadout I saw on this [sp]douchebag[/sp]
Full Giant's armor set
Some kind of lightning great axe (I couldn't tell which one)
Dragonslayer Bow (complete with arrows)
[sp]No self-respect[/sp]
He hides in a group of NPC's, so if i aggro them, he'll come marching on in and whack my ass halfway into the ground. Realizing that dealing with a douchebag of this size means I have justice and the Sunbro karma on my side, I decide to attack strategically. I kill off a few NPC's while dodging his attacks and then run away to heal/get a better angle.
Having completed phase 1 of my plan (kill the weaklings), I prepared for phase 2 (poke away at Sir Hacks-a-lot). He pulled out his bow and prepared an arrow and I saw my chance. I popped out from the corner I had been hiding behind, dodged his arrow, ran behind him, and pulled off a rather nice backstab for a total of...
0 damage.
This dick piston either had such high defense that my basic bandit knife did no damage OR he didn't feel comfortable enough with his glitched-in equipment that he needed his invincibility glitch to help his pansy ass out of a tight situation.
Needless to say, that was the end of that play session.
Conclusion: Invaders can be dicks.
So uh, everything's going fine and dandy, in the Burg, summon a phantom for help with Taurus demon, la la la
We beat the taurus demon, I'm feeling successful.
I waltz on out to that bridge near Solaire
and what happens?
Fucking fucked up the ass by a giant dragon
I shouldn't have thought this was going to be as easy as the beginning was
anecdote stuff
As far as the backstab is concerned, if you saw an actual health bar appear over him that said "0" when you backstabbed him, he's cheating.
If it didn't, it's a glitch that happens when you take damage while backstabbing them.
Anyone around level 27 that can help me through the Depths? I didn't get the chance to really play the game with everyone else when it was released, so now I'm not finding any summon signs...

I don't remember exactly, but I don't think there was a health bar, which is strange because he was the only other enemy there. If the glitch happens when you take damage, I don't think it was that because it was only him and his bow and he missed.
I'm starting to regret choosing the thief. I'm just so weak I can't find any weapons my guy can use effectively.
I'm starting to regret choosing the thief. I'm just so weak I can't find any weapons my guy can use effectively.
go find the winged spear and put a few points into it
I started with thief, Somewhere around level 75-100 my character change to a PyroKnight
Well this is just great
No one is in the depths. No one will even summon me. I just tried fighting the Gaping Dragon with Solaire and Lautrec and Solaire died before I could suicide and save him. He didn't even use any Lightning Spears or anything.
Can anyone help me here?
What's that I can't hear you over my master key
What's that I can't hear you over my master key
I have the master key too, I decided to go through the depths simply for the souls so I could level up more before moving on to Quelaag and then Anor Londo.
What soul level are you at the moment?
29
Just joined the Sunbros and got my lightning spear
I guess I'll just move onto Quelaag and forget about the gaping dragon...
Eh, I'd recommend farming every black knight in the area or go grab the zweihander in the graveyard behind firelink. Greatswords are RIDICULOUSLY useful at any stage.
Yeah, you definitely get used to keyboard controls over time. It's certainly not optimal, but it works. Just beat Ornstein and Smough.
I actually came up with a positive: you don't need to take your thumb off of the right stick to roll, or the left stick to switch stuff. But still, the lack of precision in movement and the jerky camera control more than balances it out.
Doesn't seem like anyone is around Anor Londo either...
Maybe I'm too low level and it's 1 in the morning...

Since you're using mouse, http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=108, the new patch disables the cursor.
I thought that when a summon died they wouldn't show up again?
I must have died at just the right time when I fought the Gaping Dragon when Solaire died because he's sitting at the bonfire in Anor Londo.
Just thought you guys might want to know.
If you set your internal resolution with DSfix to have a vertical resolution of 720, it will fix the text not appearing on some menus/messages.
Though, it will look a little more blurry. It's not as noticeable as it would be in 1080p because I am running at 1440x900 (Which actually only renders in 1440x810 since DaS only renders in 16:9 regardless of resolution, so it's a very small step down).
I've also heard that disabling Catalyst A.I for ATI drivers while setting the forced setting to maximum fixes performance issues with the internal res patch. That solved my issues with Sikkmod back on my old desktop, so I wouldn't be surprised if it works here.
Just some things I've come across that might help people out.
So I decided to reverse the hollowing and become human. I immediately get invaded and killed in one hit through my shield. What's the point of humanity other than getting invaded by people with a gods leftover equipment?

That doesn't really disable the cursor, it just hides it. For me, since I use two screens, shit gets me killed.

As far as I know, a character, like Solaire, doesn't die in summon form. Only way for them to not show up for a boss, is if you miss their previous summon sign, or kill them while they sit at their spot in the world.
Apparently the resolution patch makes all my red ground texts, whatever they called, not appear. It's just a black box. Any fix for that?
Sorry if it was mentioned earlier.
