I'm edging out of light armour and into the assorted knight sets now that I've arrived in Anor Londo (and have Havel's Ring). Getting hit seems inevitable and I'm still learning the moves used by the new enemies, whose attacks I'd like a chance of surviving long enough to learn from, in as few fights as possible.
Speaking of Anor Londo, how hard is it to leave the Painted World once you're inside? Haven't gone in yet, but can I just use a Homeward Bone to warp out if it proves to be too much?
Not if you use the bonfire inside.
It is actually not that bad, you just have to be cautious, there are some nasty enemies. But if you do not manage to kill them you can run past them, it can be dangerous but you only need to unlock one shortcut and then your good to go.
Also perhaps bring some purple moss with white flowers, there are some toxic undead there. Unfortunately you cannot warp out of it once you are inside. But I highly recommend going to Ariamis for leveling before Ornstein and Smough. There are tons of collectable souls there, besides you get tons of souls of the phalanx and you can farm a bit if you are into it. Also you get some really good equipement and a ember.

No, if you enter, homeward bone just puts you back at the start regardless of if you used the bonfire or not.

yeah once you go in you cant leave other than the ledge behind priscilla
so uh is anyone else unable to log in to GFWL
i just changed my e-mail address and password because i haven't changed it for months lol
but yeah i can log in to the site, and to the GFWL desktop app, but not in-game
My friend and I started a new playthrough together as a deprived, we set our goal of only using clubs. Holy shit clubs are totally devastating if you max up your strenght, it does incredible damage and is absolutely brutal.
:v: I call my club meatbasher.
Christ. I'm using the White Soapstone trick as an advance warning for invasions and from loading the game there's someone trying to connect in just under one minute every time.
May as well shut my head in a mimic after each kindling.
I do not get why people complain about the constant invading, just do not reverse hollowing, do not go into human form. Problem solved.

Problem is, there is a load of content that you won't see if you don't go human at some point

If you have a means of kindling bonfires and summoning phantoms which doesn't involve leaving the door open to some bastard with a lightning sword, I'm all ears.
I do enough walking from bonfire to bloodstain as a result of trial and error as it is - I don't have any reason to indulge someone out to make those walks more frequent at zero risk to themselves.

The only thing I can think of now is to kindle bonfires and defeat some of NPCs that invade you. I had sometimes crazy invasions, so I simply went hollow. Can you play the pc version in an offline mode?
I sort of wish there were more burden levels. like, <15% being batshit fast.
I managed to do it using a soul level 1 pyromancer which only had starter gear.
I'm not even that good so its well in the realms of reality to beat that damn boss.
Go light weight and just roll.
I would advise getting some green blossoms and using great fireballs to dish out as much damage as possible. If you can keep it to one king for a large portion of the match you will be better of then having to face two all the time.
How did you do this though? are there any videos explaining on how to do this?
People kindle bonfires?
People kindle bonfires?
Id be surprised at the people who dont, 5 more estus is so good.
People kindle bonfires?
I've made a habit of kindling EVERYTHING before starting a NG+, as kindled bonfires remain kindled, and because you lose the rite of kindling, it's useful as fuck having 20 estus flasks before you even hit the catacombs. (Not that getting to pinwheel 5 minutes after leaving the unread asylum is remotely hard. Precious gravelord sword)
I love my armor combo.
Full stone except a sackhead for underneath 50%, then DWG ring and Havel's for fast movement.
Then eagle shield and a +3 lightning claymore.
Hoping to move that up to +5, and get full upgraded Giant's for more poise.
The biggest downside of the eagle shield is that it has only 95 % physical damage reduction and cannot parry.

"Only 95%"
Yo yo yo, I dunno 'bout you, but I'd say having to get hit 20 times to get as much damage as being hit once is not "only" removing 19/20th of the damage. That's removing almost all of it :V
Well there are many decent shields with 100%, if you want to play as a tank then get a proper shield that reflects any damage. Most shields have 100%, only few that you get at the beginning or the wooden ones.
Tower shield is great although requires tons of strenght. I am just saying that as a tank you should emphase on blocking and taking damage.

i'm assuming he's playing the console version since he mentions only being under 50% weight but also using the DWGR
The biggest downside of the eagle shield is that it has only 95 % physical damage reduction and cannot parry.
Yeah now the best thing about it is that it blocks almost every fucking thing ever
How did you do this though? are there any videos explaining on how to do this?
To start I'll post the gear I had.
All pyromancy armor at about +7
an ascended flame of +5
Lightning hatchet +5
cracked round shield (blocking is only for the magical projectile.
Ring of favor and protection
Covenant of artorias (required obviously)
20 estus flasks to ensure to never run out mid battle.
Green blossoms for increased stamina regen.
Now for starters if you are fighting the four kings repeatedly you want to go to dark root garden then go to the lower bonfire (its near the grass crest shield). Its surprisingly easy to just run past the drakes so do that and then take the elevator up then you can simply jump down right next to the fog gate.
Now for the battle itself you want to give the king a hug as you take almost no damage from hits from the hilt and you can easily dive under all of the sword hits. This leaves them with two attacks that can damage you if you are near them the magical explosion and the grab. for the grab you just simply repeatedly roll sideways and for the explosion backwards.
As for dealing damage it self I would recommend equipping your highest burst damage pyromancies so you only have to fight two kings at once. Typically 1 extra king doesn't interfere too much and you can easily keep track of two but four quickly becomes to much for the inexperienced.
If that still doesn't work then you might want to consider doing something insane and use the red tearstone ring in combination with the dusk crown which also boosts pyromancies to deal massive damage.
This video explains most of what I've said and a few other things.

Just a note if you watch all of the videos this guy has you will pretty much know everything there is to know about this game from a PVE point of view.
Bought this game for PC too.
GFWL tried to stop me from playing, I fought long and hard, and won!
Then I downloaded DSfix and doubled my resolution in the ini (from 1920 x 1080) and enjoyed the new, fresh look of the game. Also downloaded DS3 Tool and now it plays like it does on the PS3! Fantastic.
Can't wait to reach the new content.
Aw, SMAA in the latest patch crashes me. I wanted max shinies.
Is DWG ring nerfed in the new update?
Because that would ruin my build.

It now only works if you have less than 25% weight. Great change imo., it was stupid that heavy armor users could ninja flip around.
