Keyboard and mouse controls are difficult but not impossible, just takes a bit to get used to. Other than that it runs great with the resolution fix.
Once you get used to it they feel very fluid. Just rebind some things.
What's it like with non-xbox controllers? I've got a wired PS3 controller and some games end up thinking it's a joystick which is a pain in the ass to work around.
It isn't optimized extremely well, it's picky about AMD cards, and it sucks dick with keyboard and mouse. Though it has its perks, being faster load times, crisper graphics with the patch, and a consistent 30fps on the computers that can handle it.
The game itself is great, but if you have a console you're probably better off getting that and waiting for the DLC, you won't have to deal with as many cheaters, either.
Don't have any consoles unfortunately, and my PC isn't great so if it doesn't run well on lower end stuff I'll be adding it to my list of things to play after I upgrade :v:
The Resolution fix should be linked in the op
My only gripe with kb+m is the tendency for lock-on to rapidly switch between multiple enemies, often causing my swings to miss entirely or even to send me stumbling off of cliffs.

I hear PS3 controllers work pretty nicely.
Cool, usually when I ask things like this I just get told to read the thread, thanks.

The people in this thread are pretty bro, we answer questions if they're asked

I use my PS3 controller. I had to change some of the button settings inside the program I use so that it's like the PS3 version.
With motionjoy set as a Xbox controller, it works exactly the same as the PS3 version.

This only happens to me if I enter a panic; ref. wheel skeletons.

Because of this I've become pretty damn good at fighting without lock.
[editline]4th September 2012[/editline]
Or activating lock at the last moment of a heavy attack to make sure it lands.
Oh, that's you defeat Seath... you stay in front of him and attack him while he's breathing crystals... killed him in like, 30 seconds.
Now I feel stupid for dying to him so much. :v:

But did you lop his tail off?
To start I'll post the gear I had.
All pyromancy armor at about +7
an ascended flame of +5
Lightning hatchet +5
cracked round shield (blocking is only for the magical projectile.
Ring of favor and protection
Covenant of artorias (required obviously)
20 estus flasks to ensure to never run out mid battle.
Green blossoms for increased stamina regen.
Now for starters if you are fighting the four kings repeatedly you want to go to dark root garden then go to the lower bonfire (its near the grass crest shield). Its surprisingly easy to just run past the drakes so do that and then take the elevator up then you can simply jump down right next to the fog gate.
Now for the battle itself you want to give the king a hug as you take almost no damage from hits from the hilt and you can easily dive under all of the sword hits. This leaves them with two attacks that can damage you if you are near them the magical explosion and the grab. for the grab you just simply repeatedly roll sideways and for the explosion backwards.
As for dealing damage it self I would recommend equipping your highest burst damage pyromancies so you only have to fight two kings at once. Typically 1 extra king doesn't interfere too much and you can easily keep track of two but four quickly becomes to much for the inexperienced.
If that still doesn't work then you might want to consider doing something insane and use the red tearstone ring in combination with the dusk crown which also boosts pyromancies to deal massive damage.
This video explains most of what I've said and a few other things.

Just a note if you watch all of the videos this guy has you will pretty much know everything there is to know about this game from a PVE point of view.
That video was really helpful, going to watch the whole series to see how to do it even lower.
Right now I decided to go level SL11 so early level PvP will still be perfectly fine, I also decided to farm for kellogs furysword and im going to max that out and take down the kings with that.
I never knew about the valley of drakes/new londo shortcut, thats way better than firelink to 4 kings lol.
Made a bit of an upgrade to the Artorias/Sauron figure.

Still need to find something to make into the sword.

This is how I did it. The buttons are exactly how they are on the PS3, even the analog-sticks work like they should. Only downside is that when I plug out the usb-cord when I'm done the controller turns my PS3 on. :v:
So apparently there's blood in this game. I didn't find out about this until I watched some YT videos of it. I didn't even think there was blood in this because I don't remember blood being in Demon's Souls.

There are blood stains for when someone dies?
There are blood stains for when someone dies?
Like the blood that shows up when you backstab someone or shoot an arrow in their head.
I just turn it off to make the frame rate more consistent.
The Zweihander is a good weapon to move up from the Drake sword, right? I've got the Knight's shield too, it's doing pretty well but is there a decent replacement I can get early?

The Crest, Dragon crest, and especially Balder shields would be solid and non-demanding upgrades, but as long as it blocks 100% physical damage, it'll get the job done if you continue to upgrade it.
The Zweihander is great when upgraded but can be frustrating due to its speed. Both the Claymore and Zweihander do a ton of damage 2-handed at 27 strength. You're probably going to want to grab the Large ember, though.
[editline]g[/editline]
Though this all depends on the character/weapons you're planning/hoping to use.

Playing a Warrior, haven't put anything into Int or Faith so it limits the power of extras. Slow attack speed isn't bad, I can work around it. Better to make it Raw+5 than normal?
I think I got the Balder shield at some point. Shields dont have much of a difference other than weight and % blocked, right?
edit: whoops got sent to a really old page

You'll definitely want normal upgrades. The ideal route will probably be for you to get it to +15. Raw weapons are pretty bad and are outclassed by elemental weapons and even the normal path with shitty stats.
There are a lot of differences in shields including parry speed and type (perhaps even bash), elemental resistance, and deflection type.
For now though, you should only have to worry about weight and 100% physical blocking. Oh, stability too, the more stability, the less stamina you'll use when blocking.
How do you get to the areas added in PTD? I remember someone asking this before, but I can't find that post again...

You must be using an older build of MotionJoy, then. I used to have that problem, but there was an update, and it doesn't happen anymore :)

I asked it. First, free Dusk, then go to the first bonfire in Duke's Archive. There should be a golem. Kill it, take the pendant, and go back to the lake.
That intro skip in the latest DSfix is amazing

I downloaded it yesterday (64-bit version, if that makes any difference) but I guess I should have disconnected it via the program first or something. I just shut DS3 Tool down and pulled the USB off.
