i spent like half an hour trying to cut seath's tail
and then i was like "wait what am i even doing i'm a dex/fth build this is stupid" and just killed him.
he's now my newest candidate for easiest boss. (as long as you're not trying for his damn tail)
Oh man, I hate the open progression a little bit because I don't want to miss out on parts of the games because I just had no clue I had to go there and stuff.
What progression do you guys suggest? So far my progression has been undead burg > undead parish > lower undead burg > blighttown > quelaag's domain > demon's ruins (Up to the locked door because I didn't have Lordvessel) > Northern undead asylum revisit > Sen's Fortress > Painted world/Anor Londo and now I'm back in Firelink Shrine.
I've killed the Hydra in Darkroot Basin/Garden but I feel like I've rushed through it too fast, did I miss anything there?
I usually go Blighttown>Queelag>Sen's>Anor Londo. Once you have gone sightseeing the amazing chest and got the warping ability (which is a lifesaver), you can pretty much go any route for the four souls.
Also I hate all that below Blighttown so I keep that part for last.

The Catacombs. You should also kill the Moonlight Butterfly and Sif if you haven't already. There's also the Valley of Drakes. It's pretty small and there's no area boss, but there's some nice loot you can pick up.
Would have tried again but a naked infinite health invader killed me at the royal sentinels. I don't understand why you guys keep praising the community, this game is full of assholes.
That really sucks. But of course an invader is going to be an asshole, unless it's one of the extreme odd few that won't attack you if you don't want to fight.
The better parts of the community are really good. Hopefully you'll get to see it soon.
About Dusk of Oolacile - where does her summon sign appear?

The hydra and golden crystal golem are both dead, I answered yes to her question and reloaded several times after killing all the regular golems.
Is there an exact spot? Do I have to be human to use the summon sign?
Okay, I just beat the Bell Gargoyles and rang the first bell. After a year of putting the game off I'm ready to tackle this!
Where the fuck do I go now? Back to the firelink shrine and down? Or should I try to fight that scary bastard down by the blacksmith?
It should be at that rock.

Scary bastard is a safe bet. That route leads to a very easy boss you could get quite a soul boost from.
Just stay at a range and shoot shit at him.

Work your way down through the tower opposite the one you exited after defeating the Taurus Demon on the battlements. The ladder there should take you down to the lower Undead Burg and then the Capra Demon.
You do not have to be human in principle it should be behind the rock in the screenshot.
Try doing some other things in the game and then coming back before you do the DLC.
You can always just buy all her spells and the catalyst from the mushroom in the DLC.

Killed the Moonlight Butterfly but not Sif because I thought Moonlight Butterfly is all the Garden had.

I haven't been able to find her summon sign either. I'm thinking it might be because I started the DLC, so maybe I have to save her from Manus to get her to show up again. Or something.
(I don't want any of her sorceries, anyways... I just want her gesture. :v:)
What do I do if the golem at the beginning of dukes archives didn't drop anything, will it come back or did I just blow my chance to do the dlc?

The golem respawns so I guess you could try killing it again, but I've never heard of this issue...
Also make sure to check the chest behind Frampt in Firelink. It contains story-integral items that the player has lost somehow.

Did you rescue Dusk in Darkroot Basin? Not sure if needed, but I did it before killing the golem.
On consoles, quitting to the main menu and loading the game fixes everything.
What's the best place to go to after Anor Londo?
I always go Dukes Archives next, but you might want to go into the catacombs to grab the rite of kindling.
Gwyn was pretty easy after realizing that I just needed to parry and riposte. I'm doing NG+ now, and it's pretty fun. Within 2 hours, I've done what took me about 10 hours on my first playthrough. :v:

Some knight with a giant didlo keeps one hitting me, I do like 10 damage with my scimitar+4.
Out of all the hours i've put into Dark Souls, I've never known that you can back stab Metal Boars before.
I'm level 19 with 18 points in dexterity, everything else is 11-13.

They didn't phrase that very well, if you keep going past where you fought taurus, you come to a door right next to the dragon bridge. If it's locked, the key is behind that gate that was lowered behind the boar.
Thanks for the help.

jack up that endurance
What's the best build for someone new to this game?
jack up that endurance
Yeah, I spent most of my souls on getting my gear up to +3 a,d my scimitar to +4, I kind of neglected my endurance and vitality. Which was retarded because I'n playing as a theif so I need endurance.
What's the best build for someone new to this game?
First time? Pyromancer. Just... play it. No reason to go for any specific build.
Out of all the hours i've put into Dark Souls, I've never known that you can back stab Metal Boars before.
You call that backstabbing? First time I did that I was petrified at what I'd just done to the poor beast and had to lie down for a while to think it over.
Edit:
Revisited Asylum, got everything I wanted but I haven't fought the Stray Demon. Should I? and is using the barbed sword and shield worth it or should I stick to the Drake Sword?

Most popular is probably Dex/Fth, which is what I'm doing. Basically start as Cleric, then focus on getting End, Vit, Dex, and Fth up to 30 or 40. (Plus 14 Str and 14 Att.)
Another popular build is the "quality" build, which is 27 or 28 Str and 40 Dex. Allows you to two-hand almost every weapon in the game.
