I'm personally fine with the port. I have a wired Xbox controller and I couldn't really ask much more.
It's because it's not up to par with other PC games in terms of user interface, graphics, and framerate.
For a port made in less than 6 months, it's pretty damn good. I think some people expect that developers can just press a "port" button and suddenly have crysis quality graphics.
I'm not entirely certain why people say it's a 'shitty port'. I mean I'm not some hardcore PC gamer so maybe I'm missing something, but it looks fine on my computer (some parts are pretty beautiful, really) and the Mouse and Keyboard controls are fine once you get used to them. The only bit that struck me as lazy was the tutorial, when they told you the Xbox controls. But yeah besides that fact, I don't see why it's a 'piss poor lazy port'.
Just keep in mind that without DSFix it doesn't look that great. Though, I agree. With DSFix and a controller nothing really bothers me in this.
Without the fix it is a bad port to be honest. [editline]18th September 2012[/editline] Dammit Pieclock
So, without the DSFix it is a bad port. The DSFix entirely makes the difference between it being a good game and a bad game. The DSFix brings your fun level from 0 to 100 Got it.

The dragon just flew off and never came back. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/559827287055759795/75C850AD8AB867F3D71839A9F9A757F662CA9448/[/t] I didn't even get his tail yet.

The criticism for the port mainly rose before it was even released so I mainly ignored it. The port is great I don't see why people jump to conclusions all the time. Anyways making a new character, focused around range. There anything I should change? Also wondering if there are other choices besides Quelaags for a backup. http://snipurl.com/2512cx7
Game looks fine without DSFix
jesus it took me and two buds like 3 tries to kill biggie and smalls we get invaded twice and then they get raped by ornstein
Game looks fine without DSFix
Not if you're running above the locked resolution. Blur everywhere
I hate those little clam enemies before Seath, it's terrible. I suck at this game.
So I beat the Gaping Dragon and got the key to Blighttown, but I didn't know where to use it, so I went through New Londo Ruins instead (Making my entire trek through the Depths useless). I was being pounded on by poison and toxic, so I spent around 3 or 4 hours leveling up my resistances and buying the Poisonbite Ring. I finally get to the bottom of Blighttown, and immediately start climbing up the planks on the other end, thinking they'd bring me to the boss. I spent around an hour and a half trying to get through that one area, until I got to the very top. I see a big metal door with some orange soapstone in front of it, reading "Imminent grief...". I press A to open the door. "Does not open from this side." fucking dark souls
So I was just thinking, how many different kinds of giants are in this game anyway? There are the giant sentinels, the giant blacksmith/sen's fortress giants/Gough, the giant skeletons, and there's a giant horned fanged skull far larger than any other in ash lake. So are any of these actually the same kind of giant, and does Smough count as a giant too?
Just met my first hacker. Killed me with one shield bash. That's got to be pretty boring after an invasion or two.

Hawkeye Gough is also different, he's much larger than the Giant blacksmith.
Agh, I just can't do this shit, going through the game at SL10 just to get the gear I want so I can twink it is ass, I want the editor to work for GFWL, I can't deal with finishing the game a second time like that.
arent they the same model
Yeah, I just wasn't sure what to call them. I'm pretty sure Gough's model is about the same under his armor too. [editline]18th September 2012[/editline]
Hawkeye Gough is also different, he's much larger than the Giant blacksmith.
I never noticed, I guess I just assumed since he's friends with the blacksmith. Does that mean I'm a Dark Souls racist?
Man, took me like, half an hour to get the dark wood grain ring. First I failed at kicking the bodyguard off so I got insta-raped by Shiva. Second time I made my way through all the guys in the forest, killed the ninja guard... then got insta-raped by Shiva before I could pick it up. Third time I killed all the guys and snuck past Shiva... then killed him. Now I'm all ~ninja~
Any tips/ideas on how to kill the Stray Demon? I went back to the Undead Asylum and now I regret it and I can't beat this fucker. v:v:v
Stay behind him and watch what he does with his weapon so you can avoid his magic attack, when he flies up, move away, then move back in and attack him and resume watching his movements. Stay behind him as much as possible and watch his movements closely and he shouldn't damage you much at all.
Oreos and Smores was pretty much the only thing in this game that frustrated the hell out of me, everything else has been smooth sailing before and after them.
I think I'm going to stop levelling dexterity and go pure sorcery/endurance/vitality and try doing some really damaging spells. Is there any way of increasing the amount I have per bonfire rest? I think I saw a screen of someone having 60 soul arrows instead of 30
The new DLC spells, the dark ones, are fucking so OP in PvP. Pursuers is honestly fucking retarded, you cant even block it or really avoid most of it because of the lag and using the pendent is also fucking hard because of the lag. And it usually one shots you.
So I might start over.. Any ideas of what class is the best/easiest?
pyromancer is easiest
I just got invaded and won. Hasn't happened before, sorcery is very good when you hit em :)
I'm doing a SL1 darkwraith pyromancer o god
