Well, fuck. Some scenery wasn't loading, leaving me with transparent walls. I decided to restart the game, and now it won't load my save. It just loads forever.

Verified game files and it's downloading 1.6 gigs of something. Apparently something got really fucked up.
The ortorias set with a giant helm looks really badass
No idea what weapon I should go for because I imagine Drake Sword is becoming obselete now, any ideas?
Got 21 strength, have barely touched dexterity

It's definitely obsolete. If a Black Knight dropped a sword and you can get your dex up to 18, it's a great weapon. The Bastard sword or Claymore are both good if you upgrade them as they scale, unlike the Drake Sword. Not sure which would scale better but they're both solid.
This is assuming you're going for something with decent strength in your build. Maybe look into the Ultra Greatswords if you don't mind how slow they are.
Probably a good idea to get your strength up to 24 to wield the Zweihander or man-serpent greatsword. First time I used a strength build I got the Zweihander low level, it's got a good strong attack which knocks most enemies onto the floor, and can carry you through the game if you let it.
I've got a black knight sword, does it not scale as well as the other two you suggested?
I also have the Zweihander, a little on the slow side but I'll give it a try.
also trying to do the catacombs without a divine weapon lolololol
The black knight sword and Zweihander both have C scaling it strength, personally I would get the Man-serpent greatsword that drops from the serpent men in Sen's fortress because it has a B scaling and requires the same amount of strength as the Zwei.
The black knight sword is a good weapon though.

I'm fairly sure it scales with Dex as well as Str but being unique you can upgrade it to over 300 with Twinkling Titanite from the Giant Blacksmith, much easier than normal upgrades. It needs the extra Dex though and you can't put Lightning on it so your choice.
If you don't have the Divine ember from beating the shit out of the Moonlight Butterfly yet, it's pretty easy to get to Darkroot Garden then Darkroot Basin and then Valley of the Drakes to get Astora's straight sword. IIRC, the direct way puts you against two Ents, a Crystal Lizard, a Halberd Black Knight, one Drake and the Undead Dragon, pretty easy compared to everything else.

What do the letters mean anyway? I don't think they correspond to an actual number value as that changes with each weapon but is there a way to differentiate them?
The scaling goes E,D,C,B,A,S - what the letters mean is that the higher the grade (S being the highest) the more the damage benefit will be from something like your personal strength level.
Something with an E rating in strength will not gain a lot of additional damage from your strength level whereas an S rating will get the highest benefit possible from it, so it's generally better to get a better scaling weapon as a rule, unless you're investing in something like Dex as well as strength, and you'll want a weapon that has scaling in both Dex and Str, like the claymore.
Another benefit to having a weapon that isn't a black knight weapon is that you can buff it with resin's and magic. The more you upgrade a weapon with a good scaling in the stat you want the higher the bonus will be.
Accidentally hit the blacksmith in the face
Good place to farm souls for absolution?
Might just start another char, something dex based

Yeah, might be quicker to just start over if you're not at Capra yet.
I'm guessing a Halberd won't carry me through the game, what's a good replacement? As of now I'm using the Eastern Set with a gargoyle helm and the crest shield with a halberd/uchigatana.

I think it will do fine with upgrades, I ran through the game with a gargoyles halberd.

Seeing pvp videos like this kind of makes me want to start playing Demon's again:

Whenever I played, my builds would always end up confused, and I'd use weird weapons, not knowing how the game works. I've used a cookie-cutter blueblood sword build which did great though, and knock on wood, haven't lost at PvP with it yet. I think I might try going back and seeing what kind of character I can make on my own.
Of course a half hour after I ask if a normal halberd will work for a while, I get a black knight halberd as a random drop.
How come summon signs never fucking work.
Trying to get some help with the gargoyles, even tried summoning a naked guy called 'DANK |420|' to no avail.

Now upgrade it to +5 and enjoy the cheap kills on everything
My first playthrough the butterfly was perfectly easy
now on a second character, I seem to get hit even though I dodge at the correct times
the fuck is this shit

I have to get my strength up to 32 first so I can use it effectively.

Burglording Protip: You can get to the upper level of the first house in the burg without going through the first fog door, thereby placing yourself out of harm's way while red/blue phantoms fume impotently down below.

I know that trick, but to be honest, I like killing both red/blue phantoms with my gravelord sword+5 or quelaag's furysword+5.

I really wish they'd make a PC port of Demon's Souls... or at least release it for the 360. Some of the things in it seem a lot better than Dark Souls.

Enjoy never ever getting invaded at all ever
Is Witch Beatrice completely retarded for anyone else or is it just me?
She does nothing but run around with her shield up during the Four Kings fight.
I honestly did not expect them to be this hard for me.
The cheesy way to do it is just put on full havels, 2 hand your weapon and just keep swinging and chugging estus when you need to.
