If you use a miracle near those white circles that are the same spell it'll get increased effect, so if you used a heal next to one it'd heal for more than it usually would.

Sometimes if you step on them 100 lighting spears will rain from the sky and destroy you

(if you use miracles near them they're more powerful. The circles are created by other players who use miracles)

Those are Miracle Synergy. They boost certain miracles when you're around them. If you stand near it, look at your miracles to see if they have a white ring around them.

Is the Balder Shield a really rare drop or something? I've got 3-4 full sets of the armor, 2 Balder side swords, a Rapier, and 2 bucklers, but no shield.

As rare as a balder side-sword, I think.

Baller swag sword was the rarest for me. The shield dropped pretty commonly but it might have been coincidence.

Oh and a good place to farm them (at least for me) is the two knights right next to the bonfire before the iron golem.

Welcome to my current nightmare.

Might have to up my skill level, lvl 15 is just nails - was trying to make a ridiculously flippy type to muck around with. Managed to grab the wood ring at lvl 5.

I just wish the pvp worked, out of the 4 cracked orbs to warmup every single one had the host discon.

I made the same error before :v:
Once they do their flying attack you can hit them 2-3 times and they're dead, they might follow up with another fog attack but providing you don't get cornered it's fine.
Purging stones are pretty cheap though, always nice to have one handy.

Was invaded by a phanton called Maneater Mildred, was scared for my life until I saw a fat woman completely naked with a sack over her head and a greatsword.
Oddly enough I summoned her later on to help with Quelaag.

On my way to Catacombs now, got a divine weapon this time and Iaito +8.

I summoned Mildred to help with Quelaag and died less than a minute into it. Took her out fine solo though. Getting out of Blighttown via the Valley of Drakes was a nightmare though. So many deaths via falling or that stupid wheel elevator.
