Cocaine's a helluva drug.
That's why I will only use ~one~ spell and use it ~tastefully~
I say just use whatever you want, people will cry about anything that you do, and I mean anything. Magic spam in general is pretty annoying, be it combustion, wotg, dark bead, whatever. The thing about spam though is that it's easy to identify and dodge. Hornet ring BKGA backstabs used to annoy me too, but I just learned to get over it and accept that that's how the game works.
At the end of the day, good players will be able to overcome any cheap tactic in the book, perhaps with ease. So feel free to do whatever you want.
HOWEVER, word on the street is that if you hit the caster after he shoots persuers they will disappear. Get your poison knives and bows out boys.
Where'd you hear that? I've been spreading the word on reddit but no one else seems to be saying it.

parry -> dark bead = dead

Except you shouldn't need a special *HIDDEN* item to avoid the dark magic spam.
I told a friend of mine what you're saying and he just laughed and laughed.

The silver pendant is pointless in PvP, it's really not worth the effort. You can outrun pursuers by simply backpedaling, dark bead can be avoided by blocking or rolling back, dark orb can be avoided by rolling to either side or through it.
Sorcerers can hardly cast shit when you just bum-rush them, the only spell I've seen reliably hit in those situations is dark bead. If magic pisses you off that much then try using magic barrier or vow of silence.
I mean, I don't really care if your friend laughed at that statement or not because it's true. There are some cases where the odds quite simply are not in your favor, like in ganks or if you have shitty gear, but a bad player is a bad player, if you're good enough you shouldn't have any problems in 1v1 fights with good gear. Magic really isn't a big deal unless you're some fat rolling tank in which case you'd probably have to rely on a really good magic-blocking shield or the barrier miracles.
Except they can run too, so it's not like "oh they can get bumrushed it's balanced"
Using magic takes no skill, you just have to stay away from your enemy, use a shield as well and it isn't even hard at all.
Plus, even if it's not a 100% block, magic can still go through shields which is dumb as fuck.
Dodge forward, avoid magic.
Just remade the Great Grey Wolf Sif theme in 16 bit. I took the sounds from The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Pokemon: Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, and Pokemon: Black and White 2. I think it sounds terrible, but I can't tell anymore. I'll upload it when it's done rendering.

Ornstein and Smough's music in 8 bit might sound cool.
I'll get on it if I can get some sort of sheet music or midi file containing all of the instruments.
Here is the Sif Music. I tried adjusting the levels as best as I could, but I didn't want to use an equalizer so the choir is a bit quiet.

Except they can't run and cast at the same time, if you keep running toward them they're going to have to fall back to their melee weapon. Dodging magic really isn't that hard, you see their arm go up, you roll.
If I'm in a direct fight with someone, the only things I ever really get hit by is combustion and wrath of the gods, both of which are short range and easily avoidable after the first cast - or I'll get chip damage from soulmasses when I rush my opponent. I'm still getting used to fighting dark sorcery but I'm not having a tough time with dark orb or pursuers. As a general rule of thumb you shouldn't rely on your shield to avoid damage in PvP, you should really only block if you're unable to roll, or if the situation doesn't call for it.
That's the DLC completed
Spent some time in Oolacile Township PvPing, after I killed the same guy three times in a row we just went naked and punched eachother in the face for a while
Shouldn't be too long until I've finished the game, then I'd like to create a PvP char, but I have no idea where to start.
You also forget that some people play heavy destroyer of worlds builds.
I myself do not, my RP build(s) are suited for being Solaire, a Black Knight with the Greataxe, or Gwyn.
I still wreck people with magic, it's just dark magic is retarded and there's one dark magic thing that if they do use up close that it takes over half my health - about 700 or 750.
Which is fucking ridiculous. Nothing I've run into can do that besides dark magic.
You're probably going to tell me 'well it's so good because you're not in a PvP build', it'd be even more unfair for people who I fight. I already wreck anything that invades me with a build not even designed for that.

I feel bad for this guy named G is for G()D because he keeps invading me and he's clearly a much lower level than I am, and he gets his face beat in every time by Solaire, then taunted with Praise the Sun! gesture.

That could be dark bead, it can definitely be a bitch, especially if they've got the dex to cast faster.
Any ideas where I'd start in planning a PvP char or a good place to get ideas?
Could just look at every build under the sun on youtube

It's retarded and I reserve using cheat engine for people that spam it or hack.

Think of how you play in single player and enjoy playing, get a decent build that fist it, and check it out

For me, it's mostly a matter of knowing what I like to use, and building around that. I like having rapiers as a backup weapon, and large amounts of raw physical damage, so I'll often make my builds with a lot of dex to accommodate for it. I also like to at least have some sort of magic on hand, so I'll give myself two slots, and if i'm not using pyromancy on them, I'll give myself just enough levels in dex or faith to use the spells I want, or I'll dump 40 points in one of the two if I'm going to rely on those spells a lot.
Good stats for PvP would be:
40+ vit
30+ end (you'll generally want to aim at 40)
15 int for basic spells and decent buffs, 25 or 32 int for good buffs (32 for tin catalyst), 40 int for optimal spell damage and scaling, 44+ for access to more spells
40 faith for optimal spell damage and scaling, 30 faith for weapon buffs, 50 for sunlight spear which isn't that great in PvP
27 strength for optimal 2h damage, 40 for optimal 1h damage, anything above for access to more weapons
40 dex for optimal damage, 45 for fastest spellcasting speed.
Thanks, I'll get researching.
There's just a huge mixture of gear, stats and playstyles which all correalate with one and other.

So wait, you hack the game if you're fighting someone who is using legitimate spells and are in no way cheating?
That's not cool man.

I'll fight them normally if they use them, it's when they completely spam them, use more than they should have (which again falls under that second term).
I've encountered one, maybe two people assholish enough with it to actually make me do that.
Out of countless people who invade in Oolacile and just use it over. and over. and over, only one or two.
It's bad and people who use dark magic should feel bad and I will make it my mission to wreck them in the most embarrassing way possible before actually cheating, if it gets to that point I'll just whip out a fuckton of divine blessings or something. Using dark magic that takes half my health a hit and is dodgeable with stupidly good timing (not homing soulmass, that kind, etc) is cheap as fuck and if you're cheap as fuck I'll be cheap as fuck.
*boo hoo hoo*
okay
you're still being a cheating pussy though
okay

I don't give a fuck.
You use dark magic, you're an asshole who deserves to get wrecked.

What you're doing is fighting people who are using legitimate tactics built into the game by the developers and you're cheating because you're not good enough to learn how to deal with it
and that's shameful.
I don't give a fuck.

qq using something legit and you're not good enough to fend for yourself
It's bad and people who use dark magic should feel bad
roll
you guys act like I do it because 'I can't fight it'
I can easily fight it. I don't have to do it anymore because I can easily just backstab them now after I roll behind them.
Shameful or not I really don't give a fuck and you can call me 'sad' 'unable to fight' or 'not good enough to fend for yourself' and I really won't give any less of a fuck.
Divine blessings are in the game to begin with, so qq all you want how I'm using them.
[editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
It's really funny how buttmad you guys are getting about it though.
It's really funny how buttmad you guys are getting about it though.
you're the one being adamant about how little of a fuck you give etc, so I don't see how we're the "buttmad" ones
Another reason that I consider the dark magic things to be overpowered is the simple fact that it's an greatly upgraded version of the same exact spell, with barely any more requirements to use.
That's horrid balancing.
[editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
Yet another reason it's overpowered is sure, you can roll and escape pursuers in the Darkroot Garden, but have you ever fought someone spamming it in Oolacile Township? There's parts where you really cannot roll or escape it.
[editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
Invasions are supposed to be a challenge for the invader; not a walk in the park spam some spells, get your humanity and leave.

I could see that being the case for dark orb, but the only thing I can compare dark bead to is great combustion, which isn't sorcery, and with pursuers, they're slower and more nimble than soulmass, so they tried to do neutral balancing with it, even though in practice pursuers are much more useful.
