What you're doing is fighting people who are using legitimate tactics built into the game by the developers and you're cheating because you're not good enough to learn how to deal with it and that's shameful.
The Devs aren't omniscient and imbalances are abundant. Most other things have had a few patches to make them balanced, Dark Magic was introduced recently so is the most likely to be imbalanced. When a player deliberately takes advantage of the latest imbalance, that is certainly not what the Devs intended. There's a reason they nerfed the skirt and flippy ring, they didn't want powergaming assholes ruining it. Using a trainer against them is simply pre-empting this.
Even if Dark Magic is imbalanced at the moment if you use a trainer you're part of the problem.
Even if Dark Magic is imbalanced at the moment if you use a trainer you're part of the problem.
I'm part of the problem of Dark Magic being overpowered because I use more Divine Blessings? Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
I'm part of the problem of Dark Magic being overpowered because I use more Divine Blessings? Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
The "problem" in the context of his post was cheaters, which would be you if you happened to be cheating.

I still have to heal, I still have stamina limits, I still have x amount of miracles / spells I can use. The thing is, with dark magic, they can kill me before I can even heal. That isn't fair at all. It literally takes no skill to use at all. And no, his post made no sense - how am I part of the problem of dark magic being imbalanced? Word it correctly next time, maybe. In my time playing I've seen less than 10 people who were outright cheating, as in having unlimited HP, stamina, etc, or this one guy who ran REALLY fast even though he fat rolled
Yeah, cheaters in Dark Souls are the real issue as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather face against people that exploit overpowered abilities than people that just straight up use trainers to make themselves invincible or whatever.
READ MY POST AGAIN. I AM NOT INVINCIBLE. YOU COULD EASY GET UP BEHIND ME WHILE I HEAL AND STAB ME. I'd rather fight against someone with unlimited stamina or unlimited HP (as I've tested with a friend, even with unlimited HP on, which you actually just get to 1 hp then stop, you can still kill with bleed damage as it FORCES damage, and as far as I know there are no current CE tables that actually force you at max hp) than someone abusing the stupidly imbalanced spells.
-fuck automerge- [editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
READ MY POST AGAIN. I AM NOT INVINCIBLE. YOU COULD EASY GET UP BEHIND ME WHILE I HEAL AND STAB ME.
The thing is, with dark magic, they can kill me before I can even heal. That isn't fair at all. It literally takes no skill to use at all.
You can say the same exact thing about stunlocks, backstabs, ripostes, red tearstone/any other buff. Sure, the only thing that compares to dark magic in terms of skill would be stunlocks or backstabs, but I'm not going to hack myself a stack of divine blessings because people do that, it's unfortunately how the game works and the only thing that can be done about it is to complain, or either get better against it or put up with it. If you want to be more fair with your healing, you'd use humanity as you can at least get an infinite amount of those throughout the game. Divine blessings/elizabeth mushrooms can't, which is why it's automatically assumed that people are cheating if they use them in PvP, which is almost always the case because if you obtained them legitimately, you wouldn't find them worth using in PvP.
What whiny excuse?
I agree but that doesn't make cheating a good counterbalance, it's cheating.
The situation is already imbalanced, without designing a build specifically for this there's nothing you can do. Without intervention, they will will most PvP with no effort simply due to this imbalance. Using a trainer might as well be a high level Darkmoon invading a low level sinner.
I was writing my post before you'd replied, but please continue to try and give a whiny excuse as to why you use a trainer even though you're clearly not going to convince anyone in the thread
Because any mention of a trainer sets off alarms. Even if someone is using it to get a PvP build quickly, fucking around rather than straight up invading, or putting those who exploit imbalances in their place, it's ALWAYS bad because some people have used it improperly. It's all about context.
What whiny excuse?
"Dark magic is imbalanced so I can do whatever I want" Honestly if you use a trainer that's your own business but why you felt the need to justify it in the thread is beyond me
You can say the same exact thing about stunlocks, backstabs, ripostes, red tearstone/any other buff. Obviously I don't use them 100% of the time, I use humanity. The thing about stunlocks, backstabs, riposes, and 'any other buff' is that there's a difference between a core game mechanic and poorly balanced dark magic - I can stunlock, backstab, etc just fine - plus those are all (minus riposte) easily able to be countered. Magic goes through your shield. You can't always roll out of the way, etc. Seriously, stop trying to defend the OP shit in the game. You haven't said a single reason why it's balanced or fair.
Because any mention of a trainer sets off alarms. It's all about context.
In this situation I don't think there's any real issue. It's only when you abuse those tools to give you an edge over players you wouldn't normally have via legitimate gameplay that it becomes a problem. [editline]27th October 2012[/editline]
balanced or fair.
This is Dark Souls we're talking about.
"Dark magic is imbalanced so I can do whatever I want" Honestly if you use a trainer that's your own business but why you felt the need to justify it in the thread is beyond me
Except yet again you failed to understand that I don't do 'whatever I want'. [editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
This is Dark Souls we're talking about.
That still doesn't 'justify your argument'. There's a difference between hard and imbalanced and exploitation
The situation is already imbalanced, without designing a build specifically for this there's nothing you can do. Without intervention, they will will most PvP with no effort simply due to this imbalance. Using a trainer might as well be a high level Darkmoon invading a low level sinner.
So because people take advantage of poorly balanced game mechanics, it's okay to just turn on infinite health? It'd be okay to do this in any other game? And there's plenty that you can do. Before patch 1.06 came out on consoles I was regularly fighting and winning against people that had full giants and flip ring, while wearing cloth armor, a wolf ring, +15 katana, and pyromancies. It really isn't that hard to kill them, it's just that they have an advantage over you, which might not even be the case if you're geared to counteract whatever they're taking advantage of.
So because people take advantage of poorly balanced game mechanics, it's okay to just turn on infinite health? It'd be okay to do this in any other game?
You too fail to understand I don't have infinite health (and if you read my earlier post, there's ways around people using infinite HP!). I still have to heal - just I can do it at a faster rate.
In this situation I don't think there's any real issue. It's only when you abuse those tools to give you an edge over players you wouldn't normally have via legitimate gameplay that it becomes a problem.
So in the situation Saza is using it in it's ok in your book, and yet you feel the need to berate him for it and claim he's making whiny excuses when you agree with him?
You too fail to understand I don't have infinite health (and if you read my earlier post, there's ways around people using infinite HP!). I still have to heal - just I can do it at a faster rate.
I'm not talking about you, you fail to understand that I'm talking about people that do. If you had actually read my posts you would've noticed I told you something about healing items. In fact I don't think the other person thought you had invincibility either, I think it's funny that you automatically assume that we're talking about you just because we're discussing people that cheat.
So how is speeding up how fast you heal not exploitation? It's hardly fair on people to begin with, even if they're using Dark Magic.
I'm not talking about you, you fail to understand that I'm talking about people that do.
There's ways of killing people who use the 'undead' hack though. Just carry a bleed weapon on you. [editline]26th October 2012[/editline]
So how is speeding up how fast you heal not exploitation? It's hardly fair on people to begin with, even if they're using Dark Magic.
Because you can still EASILY kill people healing. I just did, for an example. Got the guy as he was using a divine blessing.
There's ways of killing people who use the 'undead' hack though. Just carry a bleed weapon on you.
Yes there are still ways to kill them and I think it's absolutely hilarious, and almost beautiful, that you can. I just think it's bullshit to expect people who are playing legitimately to have to play the game on the cheater's terms.
Yes there are still ways to kill them and I think it's absolutely hilarious, and almost beautiful, that you can. I didn't know using bleed weapons made you a cheater now, too.
It's not like it's difficult at all to get bleed damage done on them. I didn't know using bleed weapons made you a cheater now, too.
Are you actually trying hard to not understand my posts, or something? You're smarter than that. Let me word it differently: It is bullshit to expect legitimate players to have to rely on bleed weapons just because people cheat in the game. Legitimate players should be able to play how they want and not in a manner that they have to. Cheaters should in no way, shape, or form, affect how a legitimate player plays their game. Using bleed weapons does not make you a cheater, I don't even understand how you could've possibly gotten this out of my post.

If you don't like it, jump off a cliff in-game and try again, you can "get infinite amounts of humanity" anyway and just go human and move on. Also, the reason I did that was primarily to poke at how bad you really are wording your posts. I don't think you're stupid, it can be hard to put down what you're trying to say sometimes, and sometimes that can honestly be confusing to read (which I honestly was for a minute there). Just because it makes sense in your head..

tl;dr saza can't understand how dark magic works, pusses out like a whiny bitch enjoy your hollow victories, faggot. 1:25 those pivot parries jesus christ

Though I don't have to deal with cheaters as I play the PS3 version, I plan on getting the PC version at some point, and I already fully know what to expect, so there'd be no point in me complaining about it. People misunderstanding my posts like those doesn't happen too often, but it does happen on occasion, and when it does I'll just re-word my post and carry on. It can definitely be easy to miss the context of some of the stuff I'm saying (even for me when I re-read my posts occasionally), since I rely heavily on it in order to reduce the amount that I have to type, since I tend to type a lot when I don't.
tl;dr I can't come up with a valid reason why dark magic is actually balanced, and thus I turn to insulting and assuming others don't know what they're saying. enjoy your hollow victories, faggot.
That's funny because I still haven't gotten a single reason why it is 'balanced'
