ok i recently got the prepare to die edition for ps3 (haven't played vanilla dark souls, only demon's souls)
what are some hot tips i should know before i start?
and are there any areas as fucking awful as world 5 in demon's souls? going through that level was one of the most miserable experiences i've had in a video game and not in a good way
You're probably going to want the master key as a gift, unless you're a thief. Also, blighttown is practically world 5, though it's not too bad if you enter it through the master key entrance.
Divine weapons keep skeletons from re-building themselves though. It's really helpful when you go against Nito.
Nito always keeps smashing the skeletons himself with his attacks when I fight him so they were never really a big deal for me
as long as you stay near the front area you it should be fine

Speaking of Blighttown, is it me or did they fix the lag problems?

No reason not to get a divine weapon and make things easier on you though
Those skelebones could easily roll across the room and smack you at a bad time
Speaking of Blighttown, is it me or did they fix the lag problems?
Yeah some parts of it feel faster on my ps3 copy; township gets really shitty frames in some places though.
Speaking of Blighttown, is it me or did they fix the lag problems?
On console? No, they haven't fixed it.
On console? No, they haven't fixed it.
It is seriously annoying, especially with those insects.
Speaking of Blighttown, is it me or did they fix the lag problems?
I always kill every enemy on move on careful and slowly. If you kill most of them, the lag reduces. At least from my experience. But at the bottom in the swamp, those mosquitos fuck up my framerate every time.
Actually some enemies have a hidden stat called "frame damage". It messes with your "frame" of reality and causes the world to move slower and more jumpy. There are many high frame damage stat enemies in Blighttown.

Bet the developers just said that to save their asses
edit: wait why did I respond to that joke post like that
Here is ENB's thoughts on future of souls.

A lot of people have issues with Blighttown but I personally didn't. It was a rather fun zone, actually.
But you know what zone can go choke itself? The Catacombs. Catacombs are the World 5 of Dark Souls in terms of how much I hate it.

Blighttown just felt too long in my opinion, wasn't particularly hard
Catacombs are fine with a divine weapon
Also I haven't even completed the game yet but I feel like rolling a miracle casting character (your fault Foogoo)

"In this episode we find out that fighting Smough and Ornstein with a dagger is actually kinda hard! We also discover Orns has a super secret ability perhaps never seen before! Then we move on to fight an even greater foe. Elevators."
Blighttown wasn't really that long for me. I breezed though it; when I got poisoned the first time I farmed purple moss in the garden because I never wanted that to happen ever again, so it just so happened I had a lot of it in Blighttown.
(I didn't know about toxic or cursing at that time. I was in for a surprise.)
I was not ready for the Catacombs though. Lost Izalith can suck a dick too.
fuck you FromSoft
I'm sorry Sif, I really am :(

Also should I make the Greatsword of Artorias or the Cursed Greatsword of Artorias?
I'm thinking Cursed because then I have a weapon for New Londo.
[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
Fuck that, I just looked at the stat requirements for both. It would take me 18 levels to be able to use the Cursed one, 26 to use the non-Cursed one. I'll be holding on to this Soul of Sif for awhile then. :v:

I heavily agree with the PvP aspect that he mentioned, all the skill that can be obtained by playing in singleplayer means jack shit in PvP. I played DS so much and completed it pretty often, I can parry most stuff, I am really good at dodging and making good characters. But in PvP all this means jack shit, usually because my characters are good in PvE.

i'd say cursed, but the regular one deals divine damage
they both scale with faith iirc
Iirc they all scale better with str/dex than faith.

Oh and once again even for the people not following my videos, check out 12:20!
It scales with str / dex fine, but it scales better with int / faith.
the cursed one doesn't scale any better with int and faith than str and dex; both are C rated, while the non-cursed has C with str / dex and B with int / faith.
but, the cursed one can damage ghosts. in my opinion it's a better tradeoff; the weapon is really not good unless your int / faith / str / dex are all fairly good.

BECAUSE I DONT NEED TO DAMMIT

[editline]31st October 2012[/editline]
The only boss I've ever needed a kindled bonfire for is 4 kings and I never really need to. It's just because I like to poise tank them to get it over with lol. Like I've mentioned a few times in my LP, I did an SL1 run and went from the start of Sen's all the way to getting the lordvessel without dying once. Doing this LP though, it's much harder to play when you're trying to talk at the same time. It's just frustrating that I'm not doing as well now :I
Dragonslayer Greatbow is very effective against Ornstein + Smough.
I've been using it when people summon me, so the souls I get from helping others has been paying for my armour upgrades and arrows.
Also, I've been playing a cleric for a while. Does the Astora Straight Sword upgrade past +5?
God dammit. The Four Kings are being a pain in my ass. I one-shot Sif, while running on TWO Estus Flasks, and I somehow can't bear the Four Kings, a tank-and-spank, with 10.
Sad day.
I just convinced the cashier at GameStop to buy Dark Souls. Role reversal.

Uniques never upgrade past +5, generally speaking.
Or more accurately, if it's upgraded with twinkling, it maxes at +5.
Guys why am I getting dumbs

Because you didn't kindle the bonfire.
It's not necessary though, in fact it's kind of weird to me that it is looked at as dumb.
"Oh he doesn't need as many healing items, that's stupid."

I think its that fact that he got pissy.
