I have a question about the shields, so what is the advantage of the big tower shields over the normal ones. The bash seems pretty useless to me, not being able to parry is a big downside to. They have have higher defense but still, are they worth using?
They have higher stability too. I don't like them, but that's because they're incredibly heavy, most of them need high strength and I like parrying.
I really like the wanderer and the knight. The wanderer is super fast at first due to his light armor (although you can tweak the other classes by removing some armor) and has a badass falchion. I love the knight because his starting armor is really badass, I also like the broadsword. But while leveling up, the classes do not mean shit. You can level up pretty much how you want and change your class during the game.
What kind of character was the most fun for you to play? I chose Bandit, and I'm not sure I'm having fun!
Well, why are you not having fun? The classes only change your starting equipment and stats. I don't like bandit because of the battle axe, most of the attacks are horizontal sweeps and they always hit walls. Pyromancer is good, starts out with the pyromancy flame and the hand axe isn't that bad.
They have higher stability too. Being able to parry is really a big advantage. The huge shiels may look badass but I suck at them, they are to heavy and the bash is useless. They may haver higher defense, but a upgraded normal shield does the job to. Also the higher durability is also pretty useless, I always repair my shields at every bonfire.
I still think the Eagle shield is incredibly good despite its 95% physical damage reduction.
I upgraded it to +6 but my crest shield is still better. Well not speaking in stats, but I play better when using the crest shield.
Anyone got a good strategy for Gwyn? I suck at parrying so if I can get by without it that'd be good!
Just parry once you see him start to swing and you'll get it almost every time. Maybe practice on some other enemies.
Anyone got a good strategy for Gwyn? I suck at parrying so if I can get by without it that'd be good!
practice parrying then
I tried practicing on the Black Knights but they seem to vary their attack speed a lot so once I get it down they have a slower attack that I don't parry so well :/
gwyns parry openings are ridiculous i didn't want to push it, but i'm pretty sure i started the parry when his wind-up was nearly complete and the swing hadn't even begun and it was still a successful parry
You can always get the flip ring, that helps massively when fighting Gywn. I only attack him when he tries to grab you. He's pretty easy to read, if you stick close to him, then he'll try and grab and leave himself wide open if he misses.
Just got the game for the PC. This is by far one of the buggiest ports I have ever seen. Is there a way to unlock the FPS? Right now the frame-rate is completely unbearable.

the one thing DSFix doesn't fix is that the fucking mouse cursor shows up in front of the game, even if you have a controller plugged in
the one thing DSFix doesn't fix is that the fucking mouse cursor shows up in front of the game, even if you have a controller plugged in
Doesn't DSFix have 2 options that can help with that?
the one thing DSFix doesn't fix is that the fucking mouse cursor shows up in front of the game, even if you have a controller plugged in
It does for me? There's an option for it... Well, once in a great while the cursor will pop up and won't go away, but restarting the game fixes it.
oh shit does it really now i feel like an ass
That's what I did. With a golden pine resin. Which is more why a death like that pisses me off. I was demolishing the boss, and then it instakills me. I was in the middle of the wall as well, hardly even near the edge. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] And I hate having to wade back through the same damn enemies every time I want to repair or level up.
Well firstly you clearly weren't demolishing him if he had you in a position where he could kill you. And secondly going through the same enemies over and over means that you should be extremely efficient at killing them. If you're "wading" through them, I suggest taking your time to learn enemy layouts rather than trying to charge through. Having said that, though, 90% of the time enemies can simply be avoided. When I'm stuck on a boss, I usually just ignore all the enemies between the bonfire and the boss and run right past. (The Fog Ring helps with this but honestly you don't even need that.)
download and install dsfix to fix basically all of the problems with the port
Thanks, it plays a little better. I keep getting kicked to the main menu though, and the game randomly decides to start going in slow motion.
that's a problem on your end then
Wow, deathmatch is the best thing ever for me right now. Just 6 minutes of four people beating the shit out of each other.
that's a problem on your end then
It's strange because my computer should be able to easily handle the game.
Anyone got a good strategy for Gwyn? I suck at parrying so if I can get by without it that'd be good!
get a black knight shield then just block and attack when you can.
Current goal for my dragon playthrough: get summoned by somebody. This may take a while because to them I'm just a naked guy with no weapon... [editline]4th November 2012[/editline] Oh man, I actually got summoned... and died to Super Ornstein. Still surprised I got summoned.
Man, I just spent an hour getting super frustrated while trying to learn how to parry, only to figure out if I stand really close to them it works 95% of the time for me. I was trying to stand back as much as possible and getting my ass kicked over and over. Also about the mist gates that block camps, what sets them off besides PvP?
That's because it's the forest. It's basically the landmark of "anything goes" PvP. If you want something more polite, try the Undead Burg or maybe Township.
OR THE ARENA COUGH COUGH
-snip- Media tags not work, what the hell?
I bought the DLC yesterday, finally I got the broken pendant. I could not wait to play it, so I got my character set and ready. I will continue tomorrow once I slept for a while :v:
