Where should i be invading as a level 100?
I dunno if i should be regretting leveling up to level 100 from level 50...
Undead Burg, Darkroot Forest, Kiln, Oolacile Township?
making a sl 120 build that goes into the forest as a human with fog ring and slumbering dragon ring
I will then sneak around the forest with a dragonslayer bow and a longbow and have myself a hunt with the invaders
The Most Dangerous Game anyone?
That's sounds amazing.
Is there any viable tactic against Kalameet?
He just destroys me so much, I can drag on the battle for a long time but I do not enough damage because I play to defensive. If I try to be more aggressive, he kicks my butt really hard. I leveled up my weapon and character in order to have a chance. He is damn hard.

get a shield with good fire resistance and your best shot at him will be after he does that gliding attack at you
also don't get too close in front of him or else he'll rape your butt with psychic powers
I have the shield of Artorias. I read a guide which said that it might be useful for that fight. Usually I have a plus 5 crest shield.

That alone should push Kalameet over.
Is the arena broken on Xbox like it is on PC?

Try to summon from Artorias' fog wall. I got summoned by somebody there, and with the help of another person, we took down Kalameet on our second attempt.
I just defeated him, in a long and very intense fight. I knew my claymore would handle it :v:
Smough and Orns at SL30 fucking sucks.
Had to kill Ingward so I could kill enough Dark Wraiths for Chunks to upgrade my crap.

I thought Ingward on AoTA was bugged and didn't drop the key?

I've actually just abandoned every covenant for Gravelord Servants.
I don't even LIKE Nito, I just like being a huge dick.

The wikis say it is but I've killed Ingward about 5 times now and he's always dropped it.

Ignoring all the initial pc port problems, this game is actually really fun.
ignoring the people who cant beat a retarded gimmick and just hack, the forest is a pretty fun place
Ignoring all the skeleton dogs, the Tomb of the Giants is still a terrible place

its a ng+ bug as far as i know
Alright, we want summoning to be better for the next souls game so players don't end up sitting around waiting in an area where there's no-one around, or if they're too high of level.
The simplest solution is to let players have multiple summon signs and have them in areas where they currently are not. Make it like orange messages that you can manage through another menu. When you start up, you can use your white soapstone and activate each summon sign you have placed allowing players to cover a wider area and grind if they want while waiting.
The summon signs may become a bit less efficient on network traffic in this case but there will be a lot more of them and coop will be more accessible. If it works for the cat and darkmoon rings, why can't it work for normal summoning?

I can't believe that I forgot this existed.
Got this lovely gem while trying to get one of my friends (it's a girl) to play this game.
"I DON'T LIKE DARKSOULS.
IT'S TOO BORING.
SO MUCH LIKE SKYRIM AND GOD OF WAR.
WOW CATACLYSM ALL THE WAY BROSKII.
BUT THEN WOW IS LIKE PERFECT WORLD.
WHY DO GAMES LIKE TO COPY EACH OTHER."
Good thing it's not even that hard
yeah, it's not. It's mostly just annoying.
[editline]5th November 2012[/editline]
I feel like the game doesn't challenge me to get better to overcome obstacles, it just punishes me harshly if I fuck up, and that's not nearly as fun.

My first playthrough, I got stuck on the Undead Burg for a good couple of hours, must've gone through at least 20 times before finally beating the Taurus Demon. It felt punishing and unfair, everything would kill me in a few hits and I'd get ganked if I tried to run through. When I finally did it though, finding I could block the Taurus demon and hold on, that I could block and then attack on random undead, that keeping my shield up was more valuable than any other skill, it was a huge sense of accomplishment. And beyond that, I never had as much trouble with any level again.
Dark Souls has a different style of play from other games and you need to learn it. Where the Asylum teaches you the basics, the Burg teaches you how to get good. It trains you in a well structured environment and gives you the basic intuition that you use for the rest of the game. You know those skill vids of people who get really good at a game, Dark Souls doesn't just give a high skill cap, it teaches you how to be just as good.

A nice post like this makes me want to continue playing much more than some variation of "lol you're buttmad because you suck at it"
I love challenging games, I'm just not sure how I feel about the sort of progressive punishments like loss of progress (beyond having to load back at a checkpoint) or wasting items on bosses you're beating only to have them 1-shot you a moment later. I'll keep playing for a bit at least, but so far punishing me for not being careful enough (or something), or for being TOO careful and going back to spend souls too often hasn't felt challenging, it's just felt like an arbitrary annoyance.

The Lightning pine resin is different because there's a few caches and only one annoying enemy that drops it. Most other things are reasonably easy to obtain, even Humanity, the thing that someone I was helping the other day told me was rare after I farmed 30 of them in half an hour. Souls too, later stages see you with more than you know what to do with.
It kind of comes back to the mentality that you are undead, you cannot truly die. You can lose a few items, some souls and whatever, but in the end you'll just appear back at the bonfire and can try again. You start with nothing and you'll probably return to nothing a few times, if you have more souls then you have further to fall, but you can always rise again. It's a game of attrition and you can't lose by dying, only by giving up.

Jmo, Dark Souls is an RPG. It rewards you greatly for exploring, so if you're getting stuck on a boss you could always walk the opposite direction and explore for a bit while you think up a way to take out the boss or get yourself some new gear. Dark Souls has a self imposed difficulty level like most RPGs; you can make it easier by exploring to get new gear, upgrading your gear, using consumable items, or summoning phantoms to help you out.
If you ever feel frustrated by the game, just quit out and do something else, or try to realize that death is a very light punishment and that souls/humanity can be regained in no time at all.

Also, you're not bad at the game, not at all. It takes a while to get into the swing of things.
I fought the Taurus demon about 30 times before I finally got past him, and look at me now. I am now doing a level 1 run through the game and know pretty much everything about the game.
Fuck yeah.
I'll give it another go tomorrow.
A more slight complaint: Thank god my girlfriend lent me her xbox controller because holy hell this port is awful.
What the heck, being forest hunter is impossible now. I keep invading people that are at SL100(I asked them). I invaded just one guy that was equal to my level.

I remember how I invaded a guy yesterday using dark magic and wearing crown of dusk. He casts pursuers, I roll into them - 1 hit kill. I blame delay. Also that proper bow.

If you ever want some help with an area, you can add me on GFWL. Kawaii Catgirl is the name.

Still my favourite trailer. It captures the essence of Dark Souls pretty well.
