Honestly, rapier alone suck so much. You either have to equip the Leo ring or use some kind of magic on your weapon to make them really effective.
I also dislike the animation, I never know the full reach of the weapon. It also lacks quite a punch. Although Ricard's rapier is badass.
But but but
no other game lets me do rapier + parrying dagger :c
Also, turns out parrying undead w/ shields is pretty effective.
I agree that Dark Souls allows you for some awesome combat style, I used the parrying dagger myself because it is simply a badass weapon. But after all it is just a gimmick. I tried many different sets including the parrying dagger, but a good shield or simply being able to dodge is a lot better.
But then once you want to play online, you get assfucked in a second. Therefore I do not play online as often.
I once tried to create a character that uses a dagger in the left hand and a spear on the right one, it sucked so much. Dual wielding needs some improvement in the next installement.
Off hand weapons aren't as bad as you think they are. Crossbows and bows do wonders. A spear in the offhand can supplement many weapons. Faster weapons like the handaxe and the Murakumo (which is faster in the offhand supposedly) can provide variety to your attacks. Dual wielding isn't very bad at all.
Oh hey I can do case of rapiers as well
And if you offhand weapons like rapiers you get this incredibly fast parry.
Also, got invaded by a guy in the Darkroot Forest. He cast iron flesh on himself... I backed up and cast a couple lightning spears. He died. :v:
catch ma fade breh I fucked some guy in the ass using some chaos fireballs
Snip Edit: Never mind found the option on for attunement at bon fires.
And holy fuck that gaping dragon, it was pretty easy if you're careful but my god was that awesome compared to the other bosses so far.
im hanging around anor londo at lvl 60 looking for some jolly co op if anyone is interested. I am in aus though so the net code could make me hard to summon.
edit: also theres some honorless cunt running around using black magic doesnt bow wave or even pause. Didn't even have time to pick up my controller and he nuked me
Got to Ceaseless Discharge, run like a pansy because jesus what the fuck is that, he falls off the edge and dies, ha.
Made a rapier character. Losing the kick makes it tough to kill undead with shields.
Two-handing most weapons removes the deflection, so you can just keep swinging till it breaks through their stamina.
PvP invaders are just frustrating for a new player, almost to the end of an area and then someone comes in and one shots me from full health, I don't stand a chance against anyone.
I really like Rapiers in Demon's Souls.
Then again, there wasn't a huge selection of weapons like there is in Dark Souls.
God damn it Dark Souls why do you insist on being that good I make several characters
Accidentally killed Andre so I guess I'm going to have to start over. At least I won't start off using my humanities as health-potions.
The side sword made me sad, with 40 dex it didn't do much compared to other things. But it has a brilliant moveset.
Edit: Oh god I just got force-sunbro'd, his name was Jolly Cooperator and he aided me in the defeat of capra
Invaded a guy that spammed soul arrows and homing soul masses while I tried to fight his summon. I invaded him later on, and this time he was all alone. I rarely use "Well, what is it?", but I made an exception after I slapped his shit.
Never picked up a bow before, but the scaling on this thing, holy shit.

"Well, what is it?" Is by far my favorite expression. Beating forest friends spamming that, oh the good times.
BBoP is the go-to bow for dex builds because of the amazing scaling.

"The monumental awaits you above"
Fucking where? The nexus is huge D:

I refuse to do that because the 2-handing rapiers is stupid. I've just started stabbing once to provoke them to attack and then parrying and riposting.
Real men parry with a fist.
In all seriousness, parrying with something like a dark hand feels really good because you are taking a risk by giving up a decent shield, and making it pay off.

Shrug is clearly better.
Also, they nerfed Lightning damage. Chaos +5 is the way to go now.
But lightning makes them stagger more and most armor has higher fire resistance than anything else.

Composite bow has more damage if you have at least 15 strength (assuming 40 dexterity)
BBoP has greater range though, so the damage stays higher longer. I guess which you prefer depends on how you use bows.
Should I make lighting shotel +14/15 when I have 16 STR and 14 DEX? I don't really have too much damage with scaling.

Composite is a short range bow but it fires really really fast so yeah it just depends whether or not you want slower long range or faster short range.

I sniped a guy across Blight Town with it when he tried climbing back up to the Depths.
I endorse BBoP.
