Just killed Nito (Which in itself is pretty much easier than going through catacombs, giants tomb etc)
Celebrated by dressing up as Iron Tarkus and killing everything from the undead burg to the beginning of blighttown.
I was stuck at the bonfire before Nito, until I just grinded on the first skele-dog thingy until I had like, 100k souls and I leveled up like, 4 times.
What is this "Dark Wood Grain Ring"? Does it decrease equipment burden like Havel's Ring?
It's a ring the lets you do cartwheels. Also, if you are at 50% burden, it will act as if you are at 25% burden and give you the fast roll.
So, I wanted to know what the community's all around thoughts are on the Dark Wood Grain Ring? I do know that it's hated when used in conjunction with Havel's Ring (To be completely honest, I used to do this, but never invaded anyone. Either way, I've since stopped), but what about when it is used on it's own?
Honestly, as long as you aren't BB glitching and invading players who are just started, you really shouldn't feel guilty or embarassed for using something the developpers put in the game. I highly doubt anybody here is going to bitch at you for using a family mask, DWGR, hornet ring and a BGKA.
If all you ever do is fish for backstabs then sure, that's frowned upon. But it really bugs me when people start to feel guilty for using what works best for them, simply because some people say it's OP.
That's twice now that as a Darkmoon Covenant member, I have been backstabbed whilst bowing to my opponent.

And now I accidentally killed the girl in the catacombs while killing her hollowed friends.

general tip: don't bow in invasions, they aren't supposed to be fair fighting
bowing should be done in actual duels, of course people are going to do everything to kill you when you come into their game
Wanted to spend my cracked red eye orbs on my new character, on my last go I invaded this obvious twink in Undead Burg, I wanted to give him some humanities cos I felt like being nice. He picks them up, doesn't fight me so I decided to give him so more stuff, like the Black knight sword (Making a DEX character anyway) and we go around town with him killing everything and me emoting behind them.
He's about to go fight the Taurus demon, so I show him the Twinkling maggot, and he bows and gives me 6 fucking Titanite slabs and goes back to the bonfire and jumps off after bowing before I could.
Brofist.
This is odd...
I've had 3 people invade my forest and all they do is just stand there. It's a pain having to go to THEM just to kill them.
Oh well, the souls are nice.

BB glitch invading is the worst part about low-level online play, but it can be used for some goofy shit too. I invaded undead burg with Havel's ring and a full Black Knight set, trying my best to mimic the way the Black Knight NPCs interact with the player, and overusing the abysmal R2 move with the Black Knight sword. It was great fun. I killed nobody.
best kill 2012 right here.
So I get invaded in the forest and the guy spawns in right behind me. I back away and use Tranquil Walk of Peace while he throws something at me. I use a few Great Lightning Spears but he managed to get behind a tree, so only one of my lightning spears hit him. We both used Wrath of God at the same time and he only had a little bit of health left.
So as he runs of I start to cast Great Lightning Spear again, and my lock on goes away when he gets far enough, but he ran right into some water and my lightning spear aimed directly at the puddle of water, causing the entire thing to become electrified and killed him.
I never thought I'd actually be able to pull something like that off, but I did.

I really hate to be a wrath of god spammer, but when you have two phantoms attacking you, what else can you do?

Read about this last night. Apparently it's a sneaky way of idling souls.
Because invading via the Cat Covenant Ring will not remove souls or humanity when you die, you can idle with the ring on, constantly invading without losing anything. However if you've invaded someone and the host dies from another phantom or other means, then you get their souls. Usually this is done combined with the Ring of Fog. Apparently idling for 1-2 days will normally net you a ton of souls.
Wait what?
If you idle with that Cat Covenant Ring, then you'll be invading people's worlds and they'll be the ones getting souls, not you.
How does this work?

He means this
If you die while invading, you don't lose anything. However, if the Host of the world you're invading happens to die for any reason, you get credit for it, and a bunch of souls.
So basically you just sit there with the covenant ring on, invade a bunch of people one by one, and hope that they die before you die. If they do, you get the souls and humanity for it.
Ohh
I can see how that might be a problem for some hosts if you invade them, because sometimes you'll spawn right next to some monsters and stuff.
Fucking Ornstein and Smough.
If I do anything other than block and walk away I get punished super hard.
What the fuck do I do?
I'm afraid of going human and seeing if there's any summon signs because anal rodeo seems like a hotspot for invasions
Fucking Ornstein and Smough.

Block and walk away.
Only times you should attack is when Ornstein is quite far from Smough, get a few hits in then leg it. Repeat until he's dead, then take down Smough (that's how I did at least).
Well, My Witch playthrough is finished. I just need to do a few minor things in New Game Plus before i make myself a new character.
Going to make something that isnt so fragile. And a Darkwraith. Because i havent been given the armor or the sword yet. By then i should have the slabs to finish up upgrading stuff.
Edit: And i have a lot of spare junk in my box too. If i find any newbies. I know what im doing when i invade them.
Make of this what you will.

Oh god...
I don't want to set myself up for disappointment but I REALLY want them to ditch GFWL...

For gamers wondering why the developers have gone with Games for Windows Live over Steamworks for online connectivity, it turns out that Namco Bandai requested this of From Software. A Namco Bandai representative points to an already established server used in the Xbox 360 version of Dark Souls as one of the reasons for going with GFWL, but says that final specs and distribution details have yet to be determined. Stay tuned -- things could change.
Thanks Namco!!

At least they are aware of the issue. I fully expected them to not give a eff and just get the game out.
I suppose Steamworks would work better.
Capra Demon is a Dick in New Game Plus, 100k souls lost to him and his dogs. (Then again, 10 vitality)
I hope there's mod support for the PC verson. Who wouldnt want wondering Black Knights and enemys in different locations?

It's been confirmed there's no mod support, and I'm glad actually.

The heck.
This would be the first PC port to have a locked resolution ever

Ehhh... 50/50. Its good yet bad that there's no Mod Support.
But, there is allways one person that manages to tweak the game. I like a bit of a random factor when it comes to enemys. Maybe a theif here and there outside where the Capra Demon is.

[editline]17th April 2012[/editline]
And locked resolution? WHAT

You have to be kidding...that would be ridiculous.
High level PvPers are all assses

I think I came on at the right time though...
I seem to be getting the same few AFK invaders over and over again.
Direly hope they change to Steamworks, at least some time after release, but if it doesn't happen i'll probably still get it and hope that this so-called "GFWL" works for me. And if it doesn't work, i'd probably try seeking a refund, since it's not suitable for purpose.

Eventually, what I did was kill Smough first, which is harder to do since Ornstein is the one who gets all up in your grill, but I think Ornstein's super form is way easier to kill. Just stay in between his legs and get in one or two hits, then run away when he tries to butt slam. I feel the need to repeat "one or two hits"; I died way too many times on this boss because I got too greedy instead of playing it cool.
Also, yeah, I had to do this boss hollow because I got invaded nonstop and that was pretty fudging annoying.
Thanks to all these AFK invaders, I now have 1 million souls.
yay
