I just picked up a copy for PS3, popped it right in. Chose Cleric. After playing other games you seem to forget how dramatic and atmospheric some games tend to become. Dark Souls is a prime example of art piece not driven by market demand or money. Then you go back to say, BF3 and you notice a huge difference in quality. What struck me first was the amazing artwork. Compared to Demon's Souls, you're blasted with color from the start, and the scenes are awesomely picture-esque. I dove right into Blighttown and died by falling off a ledge after I talked to the weaponsmith :P
i was planning on sniping them out of the blighttown entrance with the dragonslayer bow
I was planning on being a Mini Silver Knight and hang out with "those" two other Silver Knights. Try passing that now. Edit: I just thought of a name for my Boar Headed Silver Knight, Porco -The Silver or whatever it would be in italian-. I might need to end up remaking him again and get the build right. Having heal for when helping/invading is rather helpful.
That is SOOOO evil :v:
since the majority of players will be entirely new to the game, it's just going to be so fun to do invasions for the sake of messing around with their game, like using alluring skulls to pack a bunch of hollowed soldiers or throwing dung pies at people + poisoning them with poison knives or flipping the bridges in the catacombs and maybe even use force to push people off the walkways in sen's fortress i'm going to have plenty of fun
What's the point of even saying this. If you don't want it, don't use it. That's like saying you don't want a certain option in the options menu because you don't think you will use it. OPTIONS are always good, so long as they stay OPTIONAL.
The thing is that in a game like Dark Souls where the online component is so deeply intertwined with the singleplayer mods could easily break the balance. Sure, I'd love to see higher resolution textures and such, but how are you going to implement, say, much more frequent drops of rare loot or 3x spawns for online play?
Just look at that pure personality
Doesn't Get Much Better!

Sure, Troll them when you invade them, but dont be too much of a dick to them. Give them gifts too. Like a Purging Stone. Because they are bound to end up getting cursed in the depths. Heck, let them kill you if they catch you out. Hurt them, but dont kill them.
I guess we should come up with some kind of survival awareness guide for the PC players. Something that doesn't really spoil the game, but will give them that extra "heads up" when playing.
I would do that if i had the recording equipment and stuff. I'd imagine EpicNameBro doing that in advance though. Rule of thumb when invading at a low level area - If they have loads of achivements then it's hunting season. I'd imagine the PC version being Bottomless Box glitch free, it might be seen as too late for consoles since the damage has been done and you have people running aroud with electric weapons. Sure there might be the odd level 1 invader who's already in new game plus but you could say he's "earned" that. Now all you need to do is buy the box at the merchant and you have all the stuff from the prevous character.
I was thinking more of a written guide instead of a video.
That could allways work...
i always see people walking around with 99 humanity, what's the point of that, don't you just lose everything if you die :V
Bragging rights i suppose, I could understand a handful of humanity if they where weilding a Chaos weapon.
10 is the most you need practically.
Prepare to sigh. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/04/17/dark-souls-pc-prepare-to-sigh/
So uh, locked resolution, 30 FPS, GFWL and this? You know this might just be shaping up to be the absolute worst port ever. I for one won't buy it, I'll just do without Dark Souls rather than play like that. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] Though I'm kinda sceptic about the fixed resolution. I mean, it's like, you know, rendered in 3D? You don't have fixed size sprites or such stuff.
I'm not surprised it's set to be a piss poor port, it's Froms second major pc port in existance. They've given themselves such a looked-up-to task without the experience to meet everyones expectations.

Even if you don't meet the dex requirements for the bow (which most don't), as long as you have enough strength to two hand it (only like 16), you can hit people. It only does 1 damage but the knockback stays. Do it with a ring of fog. :v:

Particulary in Lost Izalith.

No. Not in a 3D game, not a chance in hell.
I wish you could free aim with crossbows, I quite like using the Avelyn. People who wear Giant Armor in low level area's are lame. Come on dude, where's the originality? Edit: Okay, i found a Newbie AFK while Human at the church, left him some items there, i cant see him standing around there like a lemon for too long, But. When he notices a glowing red pig in armor, i think he's going to shit himself.

Base physical defense at SL1 with 0 humanity: 20 10 humanity: 33 99 humanity: 129 At SL120: 0 humanity: 139 10 humanity: 144 99 humanity: 171

Wow, Killed Fatty with two others, my god, Kill Oristine first, Well I found that Giant Ori was a pain in the ass. But the Ceaseless discharge is really easy, I killed him with like 3 hits, Well I just made him fall

Giant Smaugh's AOE does way more damage, and he can spam the shit out of it and absolutely murder you. His attacks are also harder to dodge, in my opinion. I've done it twice fighting Smaugh and three times fighting Ornstein, and I've died far less by Ornstein than I have Smaugh.
speaks for itself
Oh god, I saw the full video. He talked about how everyone who plays the game is a "backstabbing faggot", and then spent about a minute running a circle around a guy yelling "LET ME BACKSTAB YOU".
That video made me realize how Dark Souls PvP is in a general view. I can only remember one time I had an entertaining PvP experience. It was my first time ever playing in the Undead Burg and I had a summon with me going across the bridge with the hollow soldiers tossing firebombs. I get the invaded message and go back to try and find him and I don't see anything. As I go through that room (with the gated shortcut to the lower undead burg), I see that an item was dropped. Like an idiot, I go over to it, pick it up and immediately get plunge attacked.
