I've finished that area but I want to get to the actual bonfire under the dragon itself, it never seems to fly onto the bridge when I wait it just fucks about breathing fire everywhere.

Shoot it with a bow while lurking from the stairs to the bridge. When you hit it and it starts to fly up, run like shit towards the items and the gate it sat on.

or cheese it to death, I used a +10 longbow with normal arrows (on first play through) it takes a bit but it dies without it healing itself

I said you could take the path under the bridge. At the middle section of the bridge, take the stairs down, and go through one of the doors, kill the two undead soldiers, kill the rats in the next room. Climb the ladder, and take a left and you're at the bonfire under the dragon.

but it first requires you to get past the dragon to open the gate before you can take that route

First you need to get to the bonfire to open that path, so you have to brave the dragon first. That's the shortcut.

If you decide you want to kill it, you can stand at the bridge stairs, shoot the wing with an arrow, and smack it in the face as soon as it lands. Run back down the stairs after you get a hit in though, or you'll be roasted. Rinse and repeat.

Someone else posted that here and I probably never would have killed it if not for that tactic.

So I was suppose to get this and a PS3 for Christmas, but now my mom informed me that she'll be getting a tax return come Friday. And now I'm all giddy to get my a console since roughly 2008 and play with a controller again. Dark Souls is gonna be the thing to remind me how much I am going to suck. Yay.

Apart from Seath the Scaleless having to "kill" you, first time around. Yeah, you could Ironman it. Soul Level 1 or otherwise.

Started a second playthrough to help my friend since he got the game yesterday, and its do damn easy once you know how to fight against certain enemies. I got through Undead Burg and met him at the Undead Parish in less than an hour.

I've played Demon's Souls and I believe I'm currently outside of Quelaag's Domain. I was thinking that maybe after I beat it or something, I would start a new character and try to go through the whole game without dieing.

The only thing that I'm not sure about is if I should stay connected to the internet because if I do, I could possibly find two other people who know what they are doing to help me constantly, but the downside is being invaded by someone who has epic-level gear that could one-hit me. Or I could go offline and not worry about player-invaders, but I could probably use the help.

Well, there are still chances for co-op offline. Summoning Solaire for the biggie and smalls fight was invaluable for my first playthrough.
