I fucking hate Blighttown. I literally spent 1.5 hours on it and made no progress. I lost 14000+ souls and it's so goddamn framey that half the time the console can't even register my attacks so I don't attack at all and when I do attack I just get smashed by whatever is in front of me. Advice?
i lost 70k souls and 10 humanity in anor londo
you'll find out how too
what kind of weapon do you use, i used the gargoyle halberd because it was relatively fast and i could hit the enemies before they finish their animation
Started a level 1 playthrough.
Going pretty OK so far but I am pretty early in the game, got to the bridge drake just before Undead Parish before I logged off to continue later
Im expecting the DLC for consoles and the PC verson to come roughly at the same time. Best of both worlds.
Except they confirmed that the PC version is coming out August 24th, whereas the DLC is coming out at some undisclosed time in Winter of 2012.
I wouldn't say that's roughly the same time.
[editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
Apparently the 'Prepare To Die' Edition is coming to PS3 as well. It's just the default game, but with the DLC included. Kind of strikes me as a weird thing to release, since the game has been out on PS3 for, what, almost two years now? Everyone who wants it has probably already bought it.
Pretty much the only advantage I see to buying it would be getting the DLC early, or if you haven't gotten the game, but anyone who pays 60 dollars for a game they already have just to get some 15 dollar DLC a couple months in advance is pretty dumb.
Even if you don't own the game I'd recommend just picking up regular Dark Souls for 20/30 dollars and waiting for the 15 dollar DLC. You'll get away cheaper that way, and it's really not all that long of a wait.
Oh... Bugger.
Nevermind, i might end up getting the PC version after all (If i do end up getting a new computer)
So, apparently everyone gets the Prepare To Die edition at the same time, but they won't make the stand-alone DLC available until Winter.
What the fuck?

I got through the Anor Londo archers on my first try. They're not bad if you take it slow... hide on the middle platform until them stop firing, sprint up, kill the archer in your way with pyromancy (best way to avoid accidentally falling off the ledge), and you're good to go.
Also I went through Blighttown with a scimitar. Fast and effective. It's important that you wear armor that's fairly light, though, since most of the time you'll want to be dodging rather than tanking. (The Shadow set can be found at the start of the area and it's rather ideal.)
hooray namco bandai

Whoa.
Now that I'm seeing it on Steam I want it 10x more.
Funny how much a Steam page can do to persuade you.

I'm using the battle axe +1 or the zweihander +2 with the spider shield and elite knight armor. It's not ideal, but I didn't want to use the drake sword and the axe is kinda fun to use.
wow those specs, even my laptop will run it more than fine...

Look at all that shit, fuck the digital copy on Steam.
Probably the same as the limited edition + a few extra art and making of scenes.

+ soundtrack. And the postcards. Don't forget the postcards.
Fucking fire's gone out at Firelink Shrine, even though I killed the Crestfallen Warrior at the beginning.
Wat.

Or his own sword, but I doubt it.

It would be pretty cool though.

I only just realized this isn't a collectors edition or anything, just what you get with the regular £30 game. That's fucking awesome, fuck the Steam copy for sure.
ugh so they didn't give up GFWL
well tbh i'll probably buy it anyways but i was really hoping those 20000+ anti-GFWL signatures would persuade them to drop it

Fuck. Ok, how can I get the fire back? Do I have to go all the fucking way to Anor Londo?

The Crestfallen Warrior doesn't do shit. He's a pretty cool guy. Why'd you kill him?
The guy who kills the firekeeper is Knight Lautrec The Embraced, who you saved from his prison cell shortly before the Belltower Gargoyle fight. You get the Black Eye Orb from the Firekeeper's Corpse, near the stairs to the New Londo Ruins. Once you get into the Main Hall of the Cathedral in Anor Londo, you're able to use it and invade the world of Lautrec, to kill him and get the Fire Keeper's Soul back. From there you can use it to reinforce your Estus Flasks to make them heal for more, or you can give it back to her to bring her back to life and restore the fire at Firelink Shrine.
Also if you revive her and then put at least one lord soul in the lordvessel, she'll fully kindle the Firelink bonfire.

Forgot to mention that she kindles it when you talk to her afterwards.

i don't use pyromancy
I just get past the archers by bum-rushing the one on the left and dodging whatever arrows he shoots, and when he pulls out his sword, I turn around and run back a bit. 90% of the time he'll fall off the edge, but if he doesn't, you can just run past him since he'll still have his sword equipped as he chases you.
The advantage of doing it this way is that it is fast and requires no equipment.
i don't use pyromancy
Why not? There's no stat requirements and it's cheap, easy damage.
Why not? There's no stat requirements and it's cheap, easy damage.
Sometimes when people play an RPG they make a character, and then get immersed in that character. If the character doesn't have a reason to use pyromancy, or has some reason not to, then it's fair that the person would adhere to their immersion regarding the character and simply opt to not use Pyromancy.
Or maybe he didn't free Laurentius, and thus never got to use it.
Or maybe he just thinks it's cheap, or doesn't like it.
There are plenty of reasons why one would not use Pyromancy.
