I have never, ever used magic in this game. Dunno how.
I've got some Great Fireball spell, but I don't know how to use it.
I've only upped Vit/End/Dex anyway.
i like being immersed in my char
because the fire represents light, and since my [sp]ancestors snuffed their flame out to bring the age of man[/sp] i thought i should too
Looking at the DLC trailer again, it looks like that coliseum that keeps showing up could possibly be that PvP spot that's being talked about; the scene with the red phantom looks like it's at the top of it.
How good is Gravelord Greatsword/Sword Dance anyway? Does that scale with Faith?
Think i'll make a PVP type character, But after a while i dont know what stat to fill, im already swimming in health here.

That would be bloody awesome. Perhaps we can have a lobby where you walk around with some random other players. Then you can talk to them and agree to have a fight.
Stabbed this guy in the dick and got 160k souls.
I was SL 60
Ok guys, I just killed Quelaag (feeling good about myself) and am about to head into Sen's Fortress. However, I can't help but feel like I'm unprepared. I'll list my equipment down below, but I've just sort of been doing what feels cool, rather than what might help me in the long run.
Zweihander +4 (Battle Axe +2 is a faster alternative)
Black Knight Shield +1
Full Elite Knight Armor Set +1
Talisman (for Heal)
I don't have my stats on me right now (my Xbox is all the way downstairs and I'm super lazy right now), but do you guys have any suggestions for equipment? Am I on a decent path with what I'm upgrading or am I throwing my shards and souls into oblivion?
You're pretty good where you are. You probably want to get that Zweihander to around +10 at some point. I wouldn't usually bother upgrading shields, though, and don't bother with the armor. Grab Ornstein's armor later on when you can, upgrading the Elite Knight armor chews into resources you'll want to save for weapons.

Ok. I was a little concerned when the mighty Zweihander did 58 damage to the lizards in the fortress, but thus is Dark Souls. Thanks for your help.

If you really want to beef it up temporarily you can do a fire upgrade with green titanite, and then degrade it later so you can upgrade it again under a more powerful path for your character.
I'm at the Crystal Cave, getting butchered by those oysters.
I'm using Quelaag's Furysword +4 and the Gold-Hemmed Robes. Is that sufficient at this point?

I just buffed it up to +9 and it's doing fine. To be completely honest, a lot of the upgrading concepts are completely new to me (elemental stuff, raw, divine, etc.) and I'm not quite sure what is best for my character and what just plain sucks. I know that raw and crystal are typically bad choices for unique weapons, but could someone explain the different elements (effects, downsides, etc.)?
So I was reading TvTropes (again) and it made me love Solaire even more. Not sure if spoilers, but will tag then anyways. They're related to Solaire of course and the final boss [sp]"If you kill Gwyn with Solaire as a phantom, Solaire links the fire in his own world. "[/sp]
Apparently the developers themselves have said that.

basically lightning
that's all you really need to know
i mean you'll want to have a divine or fire weapon or something for those rare cases in which you're fighting someone who's lightning resistant
but in general... lightning

Nobody has a happy ending in this game. [sp]Except you if you choose the Dark Lord ending, depending on how you look at it.[/sp]

Some weapons that have great scaling just go to waste if you make them lightning weapons.
I just lost 20k souls in Sen's Fortress. God damn it. Is there any other place I can go before Sen's Fortress? It's just a place I really don't want to go at this point, but I still want to play the game.

You could kill Ceaseless Discharge, then cry multiple times as you attempt to kill all the Taurus Demons on the lower level, or the Capra Demons.
I have a few questions considering some of the different skill aspects.
What purpose has dexterity, which weapons does it affect? Also what means critical damage, is that the extra damage that you do during backstabs/counters? Then is that extra damage that you get with different weapons when you hit your target multiple times and looses a lot of health with one blow, is that bleeding?
Finally I want to start a new character using rapiers, he should be fast paced and rely on ciritcal damage. What is the best class and skill to use in that case.
I would be very thankful if someone could enlighten me.

Dexterity has bearing on certain weapons like spears and rapiers. They scale with dexterity. Dexterity also affects some weird things, like how many invincibility frames you get when you roll, and your casting time with spells.
Criticals are when you land a backstab or a parry. That's it. If you hit someone multiple times and then it does a shitload of damage suddenly, that's probably bleed damage. Some weapons cause bleed build-up.
If you're making a character that relies on criticals, start as a thief and pour a lot of points into Dexterity and Endurance, for maximum speed and agility.
Thank you kindly sir, this is exactly what I wanted to know.
Vit - 24
Att - 12
End - 25
Str - 16
Dex - 27
Res - 12
Int - 11
Fai - 14
Quelaag's Furysword +4
Eagle Shield +3
Gold-Hemmed Armor Set
Is this alright, or have I fucked up somewhere along the line? I'm just about to take on The Four Kings.

That's a pretty good build. The Four Kings are one of the easier Lords, if you're just on regular New Game. Just remember to two-hand your sword and do as much damage as quickly as you can. Just go apeshit.

Speaking of the Four Kings, I recently beat them on New Game +++, and holy shit they're hard. The fact that the spawn time between Kings gets shorter every time you go into New Game + is insane. There were six kings all spawned at the same time at one point.
I had to get two phantoms with me, and we specifically upgraded a bunch of gear and armor so we could do max DPS. Even then we barely won.
The Four Kings start out as one of the easiest fights and quickly become the hardest in New Game +.
How does weapon reinforcement work? After a few upgrades with titanite shards it no longer appears on the list for upgrades.
How does weapon reinforcement work? After a few upgrades with titanite shards it no longer appears on the list for upgrades.
If you upgrade it to +5 and from there you have to either ascend it to an elemental weapon, or ascend it to +6 with the Large Ember. From +10 you can either ascend it to a Boss Weapon if you have the soul of that boss, or you can put it up to +11 with the Very Large Ember, and then from there +15 is as high as you can go.
Different blacksmiths can do different things. For example, Andre is the only one who can bring weapons all the way up to +15, and can also do Divine, Occult, and Raw weapons, the Giant Blacksmith does Electric, Crystal, and Boss Weapon reinforcement, Vamos the Undead Blacksmith does Fire and Chaos reinforcement, and Rickert the Vinheim Blacksmith does Magical and Enchanted reinforcement, and can also do Divine if you give him the Divine Ember, I believe.
Weapon reinforcement is kind of complicated, as you can tell. It requires a lot of running around depending on what you want to do.
Just bumped into [sp]the hollowed version of that guy from the Firelink Shrine[/sp] in New Londo. I run down there completely naked with a Jagged Ghost Blade thinking I'll only be fighting ghosts when what appears to be a black guy runs straight at me with a sword. I almost died.
After playing like 80 hours of Dragons Dogma, I restarted playing Dark Souls. I feel like a slow tank :v: DD is such a fast paced game.
At what vitality/endurance levels would removing the Ring of Favor and Protection be a good idea?
My vitality is 23 and my endurance is 25, and while I really want the extra ring slot, I don't want to remove it and then be kicking myself for doing it all through Anor Londo.
Ornstein and Smough fight is a bitch.
Any tips?
Kill Ornstein first.
Some weapons that have great scaling just go to waste if you make them lightning weapons.
But that's a VERY small minority of weapons. Most weapons, even weapons with like A-tier scaling, just end up being better off if you upgrade them into lightning weapons. You'd need to pour ABSURD amounts of points into Str/Dex/whatever for the scaling to match what Lightning does.
I mean, if you've got Titanite Chunks to spare (ha, I wish) then it's definitely a good idea to have a plain-old +15 weapon so that you won't have to worry about enemies with resistances, sure.
