Use Steam & "ownership of your game will be stolen" & you will be "considered a criminal"
Some of his points are right, you just don't want to agree with him. The issue with Steam I can relate to, once you buy a game you can only really use it with Steam unless you do shady things (more so with steam cloud games, third party games not by Valve can sometimes be played without Steam), so if you're offline you can't really play anything unless you were online beforehand. I'm sure that depends on the game, and I've never really had a problem with it. That's a key statement, a lot of people have never really had to deal with the stated problems, so why look at his point of view? My Steam account had been disabled for something in Steam Community yet every single one of my games, made by Valve or some other developers were 'taken away'. Only way to get them back? Something illegal. Not all pirates do what they do because they can, because they "have to". Not saying I've ever done anything illegal to get access to the games I've bought OR that I'm complaining because I've done neither, I did what I did and got what I got even though It's ridiculous in my opinion. Gasp, I must be an idiot or a troll because I don't think Steam is good, or that DRM in a game should be factored into the opinion on it. DRM, that big bad nasty acronym, is a part of the game. If DRM is terrible (Looking at you Ubisoft) the game *can* be terrible too, because, you know, you have to deal with it while playing. It's your money, are you getting what you paid for?
He's blowing everything out of proportion.
He is exaggerating most of his points to create a, what appears to be, credible argument for why DRM (including Steam) should not be implemented in games.
He is claiming that Steam has backdoor access to your PC's files and rants on about how it's like a mothership connection with all your private data being sent through the tubes.
Would you kindly tell us why your account was suspended? What did you do?
Did you read the Steam EULA? You had to agree to it when you signed up for Steam. If you violate it, then Valve can take action against you.
Then say that to him on amazon.
I have but he either removes my posts or reports it and Amazon removes them.

Yes I already knew about the Steam EULA, but posting something I shouldn't of in a group announcement doesn't call for a complete lockout of an account in my opinion, but I guess steam thinks otherwise. My friend did something similar and also had his account disabled, then re-opened, and is having his community turned off. (Which it still hasn't.) Really big slap in the face. I KNOW I did something wrong but the crime doesn't really fit the punishment. Steam didn't even give me a refund on a pre-ordered game (AvP) and if I wasn't already in a law-suit at the time I would of sued them, or at least of gotten my credit card company on their case. But I guess I'm wrong.

"something" is very vague.
Tell me exactly what you posted, then we can decide if you were wrongly banned or not.
He's got a point about SecuROM though. When it was in the Sims 2 there was cases of it blowing or disabling motherboards and graphics cards due to their drivers
Someone should take note of this because it is absoloutely true and 100% Fact.

The item I had posted was an item I had thought at the time was freeware, it turned out it wasn't and I was greeted with a support ticket with the following:
"You have posted links to a Torrent (Did you know not all torrents are illegal?) for super cool old game that apparently wasn't freeware in your Community Group. As this is against the Steam Subscriber Agreement, we have disabled your account and any games contained in it. Your account will not be reactivated.
The Steam Subscriber Agreement can be found at:
http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=subscriber_agreement
In addition to violation of contract, activities on your account may violate federal law and state law. If such activities persist, Valve reserves the right to refer the matter to authorities."
Of course you're going to say that's worthy of a lockout, I don't think so, I only spent a small fortune on games right. I'll be here enjoying boxed games not needing steamcloud from now on. Have fun with your bloated community feature.
By the way Amazon doesn't remove posts that quickly if they're reported and Amazon DOES review the posts that are before deleting them, and the person themselves can't remove a comment unless the comment is on their product. :rolleye:
We are all pirates now.

I will.
I'm not sure if you're aware but you can open a support ticket with Steam and have your case reviewed.
If they end the case in favour of your appeal, then you will get your games back (and your community page I guess).
But, again, you're being vague with what you posted.
I want to know exactly what you linked to.

From the small ammount of lines I read, everything that came to my mind was alien and UFO conspiracy. He makes it sound like Valve will abduct you and your computer and anal probe you.

This isn't even worth reading... This guy is clearly an idiot who wears tinfoil hats...
Edit 2: Seriously, what the fuck... This guy is a fucking joke. He's comparing Steam and Valve to a country under dictatorship. And his pc and internet connection must be made of wood and rock.

That was the ticket response kiddo, and I don't think you've ever sent a steam support ticket, most of the time it ends in you being shot down or no response, hey, that relates to me. No is being vague either.
Thread should be filled with Elder scroll Comments now. Criminal scum
That guy is a pill. Well, off to play some Multiplayer Platform 2. :sax:
He complains about Securom, but hates Steam. Steam is the least obtrusive and best DRM system I've ever seen. He's an idiot, disregard his opinions.
-snip-
There are worse then thoses mentioned above
The guy says you can't play in offline mode on steam... I mean its on the friends list thin- Oh wait, he must not have an friends.
This guy reminds me of 1/4 Life

He claims that he "discusses DRM with his friends".
He claims that he "discusses DRM with his friends".
by friends he means people on the internet he doesn't remotely know in real life
Well, a couple of hours of gameplay and some polished surfaces an expansion do not make.
Isn't that what pretty much every game expansion out there is?
Steam is the only DRM that I celebrate being used in a game.
You do realize that you don't actually own the games you by, they are a service, not a product.
Just saying. Read the EULA.
So what?
If steam ever goes under, they'll make all their games work without steam.
Simple. They'll release a patch to you that lets you play your steam games without launching the steam client, and allow you to back the games up to a physical copy if you so choose.
Ignoring the stalking part for a moment, that must have took you an entire weekend to compile and write Dr.Bob. What is with this obsession of yours?
Common, admit it: are you secretly in love with this guy?
Did he spurn your advances and this is where all your bitterness is coming from?
Constant contact with the mothership

It took 5 minutes. :colbert:
And yes, he turned me down on my offer and now I must exact revenge!
You joined one hour ago, hmm I wonder who you may be.
Let's see, there is a well known troll named Dominic Lloyd (of Thames-Valley Technology infamy) with a severe Neurosplicer-fixation who has been wasting these past two years of his pathetic little life attacking this brave soul's Amazon reviews.
Dominic Lloyd's Amazon profile can be found here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A2KRXA46KKURI7?sort_by=MostRecentReview&x=2&y=5&display=public
When Amazon introduced the new anti-troll filters they removed literally thousands of negative votes from Neurosplicer's reviews. That alone speaks volumes on who the troll is...
Nobody likes DRM. Some of us tolerate it, but, who are we kidding, we would rather see it gone tomorrow if possible. Neurosplicer simply states the obvious.
If this brave man takes on the gaming industry I have only one thing to say to him: Power to you Neurosplicer!
He thinks Valve is EA or something.
He thinks Valve is EA or something.
There's nothing wrong with EA.
Remember: Valve is an EA Partner, you'd think they'd have the sense to avoid affiliation with EA if they were bad.
(to those who bought the Box and have to deal with STEAM)
As if it was a bad thing. Gaming would be terribly boring without Steam keeping me in contact with my friends.
[editline]11:59PM[/editline]
- If STEAM detects your PC being OnLine there is no way to let you play in the OffLine mode - and pray that there are no updates available for any of your games, otherwise you will have to wait until everything (including STEAM and any pop-up advertisements) is up to date before you can play anything. And this can take hours even with a DSL connection.
Never heard of "go offline"?
