He's obviously had a bad experience with steam and is now raging about everything with DRM. Trolololololololololol
Having a pH. D isn't really relevant is it?

Yes it is, he is a samurai and a brave soul.
Jokes on him for wasting so much time on these reviews.
DrStrangelove, you seem to know an awful lot about this Neurotwat and his so-called trolls. Got a bit of a double identity going on have we?
I didn't have to patience to read all of it... But I do agree on him with some points:
1) Why should I have to connect to the internet to a steam server in order to play single player games?
2) Why should Steam have access to my computer and automatically install updates/addons without my consent?
3) Why should steam have access to the ability to discontinue any multiplayer master servers? Shouldn't there be a Peer/Peer (LAN) compatibility with all the multiplayer games atleast?
4) Why should steam servers limit my gaming just because they are doing maintenance? Shouldn't I be able to play whenever I want/Where ever I want?
Aside from this... I think steam is great! Allowing me to never have to worry about finding a CD, keeping track of some CD Key, or even worrying about getting updates ( Although I still dont like the idea that it does it for us without asking first...) Some games keep my savegames, while some even keep my controls/configs via SteamCloud...
If steam could figure out some way to verify an original copy without being connected to the internet... this would be perfect.
Edit:
I also do not like that with Retail CD's I can install multiple copies on different computers in my home and play LAN with my friends at my house... However with Steam... I cant do this: I need to buy an additional copy of the game in order to play. This usually violates most games policy about having multiple CD Backups/installs on different machines as long as they are not distributed and/or sold to others. Its just another way to force us to buy another game.
Another feature I like as well as dislike at the same time: Steam can VAC ban people and restrict them from playing games they legally own and paid to play. I dont think valve should have the right to FORCE players to quit playing a game just because they cheated... Now granted they might deserve it... but that should only apply to that specific game... there should NEVER IN ANY WAY be a global ban on every game they own associated with the banned account. (Correct me if this is wrong; I have never been VAC banned...) Im my opinion, Valve should not have the power to do this (And might even violate a retail games terms for all I know... :/ )
This forces the player to buy, YET AGAIN... all the games the player wants to play because he cheated JUST ONCE... I do not believe that this is right.
Comments on this anyone??

1) Offline mode
2) set the games not to autoupdate
3) Not just with steam, but that's a point I agree with
4) Again, offline mode normally works for me

1) Offline mode you still need to be connected to the internet to enable...
2) Oh my. I didnt know that feature existed...
3) No comments needed :D
4) But if its a multiplayer game and they are doing server maintenance... you will not be able to find any games unless they are either in the favorites, or via Direct Connect. Otherwise you will most likely not see anything or get an error saying "Could not connect to Master Server/Query" or something of the sort.
By the way, I updated my post. Check the new stuff :D
Yes it does, after you close a game there's almost always a silly "update news" window coming up with riveting information about some new boring indie game that you're never going to buy. It's not really a big deal but it would be nice if those could be disabled.
Yea maybe once every two weeks. The only popups I get are from group events.

When you go to login, you can hit, "Start in offline mode"... Done.

1) My Internet is one of those "always on" ones, so I don't really have an issue with having to connect every time I want to launch Steam/a singleplayer game.
2) You agreed to the EULA. And when you say "have access to my computer", what exactly do you mean by that? Yes, it collects hardware statistics but purely to ensure better compatibility with YOUR hardware from future products.
3) I don't understand this one. However, I am certain that there is LAN support in every multiplayer game.
4) Maintenance is there to ensure you get to play without any hickups. Why are you complaining about this?
GTA IV: EPISODES FROM THE...BlueScreenOfDeath!, 4 May 2010
I have thousands of PC games and, over the years, I have had both good and bad experiences - and everything in between. I can now say that GTA4-EfLC has secured its place amongst the worst gaming experiences I ever had.
GTA III was excellent, the best of the series. GTA IV was not a bad game but, similar to the original BIOSHOCK, it was not worth its idiotic DRM scheme troubles. Hoping that ROCKSTAR had cleaned up its act I made the mistake in giving in to compulsion and buying this from STEAM, where it was on sale. Unfortunately, no matter how cheap one buys a worthless product, it is already too expensive.
I have a year old gaming system at home (i7 920 on a MSI Eclipse with 3GB of DDR3 RAM and a GTX260 nVidia, running WinXP SP3) on which I hardly had any problems running games, old and new alike. It took some hours to complete the download and installation of the about 16GB(!) required for this installment of GTA IV. Since I already had a WindowsLIVE and a Rockstar Social Club Accounts, I just logged in and waited for the game to start. But that was not in the cards. The draconian and convoluted DRM scheme made sure of that. The game kept crashing - over and over!
Writing to STEAM only got me a "we do not offer support to third-party products" reply. Cute. They just sell the stuff, why should they make sure it works as promised, right? And by writing to ROCKSTAR I received a cut&paste "hit the help fora and see what crawls out" response. No much, it turns out, when it comes to effective advice.
I tried cleaning my registry and temp folders as suggested by some fellow gamers to no avail: the game still crashed just past the initial character-slides/loading screens.
I tried updating all of my drivers, DirectX and Windows Frameworks and this piece of shiit still kept crashing.
I even tried uninstalling numerous programs that might conflict with the DRM, such as PowerISO (as SecuROM is known to be...nervous in its company) - and was rewarded by a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! That sure brought back memories. I hadn't had one of those for years!
After deleting the local content I thought about having my credit card company cancel the transaction on the basis that the product I bought never worked. Instead, I decide to pay my bill - to help me remember.
Remember NEVER TO BUY ANOTHER ROCKSTAR PRODUCT AGAIN.
i like how he hates steam so much and bitches about it constantly but he's obviously still using it if you read the Episodes from Liberty City review.
He fucking implied that DRM purposely crashed his game so he couldn't be able to play it, despite the fact of his year old computer.

Again, I do not know what some of you gals are bitching about. Neurosplicer makes a valid point. Maybe it is lost on DrBob and Humongous (overcompensating maybe?) but DRM does cause a lot of problems with this game.
I had problems with GTA4 after it got patched.
