What would happen if Steam shut down? - Games

I'd be pissed if that happened.

I would probably start gaming on a console.... Oh fuck that would suck bad.

They licensed the game under certain terms. They break those terms and they get sued into the ground. Publishers don't license resellers and distribution systems to do what they please with their intellectual property. Games must be sold a certain way and kept that way.

To be totally honest, if Valve ever went under, someone else would probably buy Steam. It will never stop being profitable. Especially if someone like D2D buys the entire user-base and offers "ALL YOUR OLD STEAM GAMES WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR ACCOUNT TO D2D FOR $5!" That alone would make them so much money.
