yes however they have a lot done for them already. the story, map layout (gameplay flow, and general layout), weapon design, physics/rendering/sound engine, character animation system, script dialog, character design, environment design, and some other stuff I forgot. keep in mind that they are not building from the ground up.
Too bad they have to make a fuckload of textures and models by themselves. Not to mention transposing a map from goldsrc to source takes a lot of fucking time if you actually want to make it look like it belongs on source and just isn't a direct port. Weapons have to be modeled and textured; they have to make a few of their own sounds and CREATE some animations.
They are building from the ground up with a vague instruction manual.
Ah fair enough.
I concede.
Although I'm still not surprised.
Oh how polite
I rated you heart :3:
Now I wonder who that team member is who "needs to eat his shoe" and what he's responsible for.
I remember getting dumb ratings for saying this would happen.

You get that.
Cool Dr. Breen avatar.
:smug:
I had an important chat with Spitfire on L4D2 today, it went something like this
Me: "hello mr bms dev why isnt bms released yet"
Spitfire: "ha ha! many reasons"
Me: ":D"
Me: "I have Faith"
Spitfire: "there were unforeseen consequences"
*lolz in the lobby*
Dunno if it was the real deal but just passing around rumours alright ;)
Fuck, now Raminator's gonna make me eat my shoe.
Well, the people that want to install this rather than buying HL1 have to suffer.
Agree?
Game's taking as long as HL2 took.
Which I find funny because they aren't actually designing the gameplay itself seeing as that was already done for them, all that's needed to be done design wise would be the asethetics and AI... I suppose voice acting/presentation too but there really wasn't much of that beyond the first 30-40 minutes of the game anyways.

How is having the entire design already made for you and the level layouts pre-determined and already accomplished "vauge"? It's about as concrete as it gets.
Oh no character animation NO ONES DONE THAT BEFORE! You act as if the only people who have the skills to do animation are those who work for a professional company. It's just another slice of the dev pool along with modeling, textureing, etc.
Point is they are taking an awefully long time to make something when most of the harder parts are already set in stone, such is how remakes work.
fuck this,im going to play ep3.
It's not trolling if you were right.
You were not right back then, even the devs believed they can make it till the end of 2009

Don't get pissy, it's free. You can't demand a release date from people who work in their spare time. It's not like you're giving any money for this, and it's not like they're required to work on it 24-7.

Ok, so we can't demand a release date. But they also can't expect their fans to have infinite patience with them. They promised to release in 2009. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's going to stop following the project because of this.

More development time is going to mean a better product. Would you rather a buggy release now, or a polished and perfected release later?
You act like you have to pay for it.
I wish I could pay for it. These guys really deserve it though they don't accept anything. If I had the money I would fly down there and buy every project contributer a beer.
I understand some of you have been waiting for a real long time for BMS, so you could preoccupy yourself before Episode Three, which at this point, is more of a bet to see which will be released first, but for those that do not understand why most mods, no matter how hyped take so long, you do not want the released version of Black Mesa looking something like this do you?

No? Then wait patiently, these guys, like most other modders have been sacrificing their real life to keep you happy, and it is a fact they do not get paid, but that goes for most modders, just like the Missing Information. It would be nice if Valve could have hired these guys doing BMS, considering you look at the history of CS, TF, and the fact that even Garrys Mod became something you had to buy from Valve's STEAM.
something tells me they'll have updated it by now :rolleye:

I'd rather they not make promises that they can't keep. Of course I understand why they're doing it, in fact I support their decision. But I'm not going to get excited about it anymore until it's sitting in my downloads folder.

I'm not really pissed because I'm not seriously looking forward to BM anyways. I just find it interesting that it takes them 6 years as one the most popular mod teams on the planet (which means they can get plenty of help easy) to take what someone already made and make it look better.
I'd love to try BM out when it comes out of course. I just don't have much hype for it considering it's just a visual remake (on an aged engine) for a game that I've played half way through already.
clocks
Black Mesa: Forever :clint:
I hope they lose everything they have done these bastards permabanned me :,-(

I'll positively grin when I'm finished installing this.
Does it take one mod really that long to produce? What the hell are they putting in it to take so long. If there isn't sharks with fucking laser cannons in it i'm going to be pissed
