Which game is easier to get into? I'm thinking of buying one.
I always get too connected to characters in fallout and try to sacrifice myself for them.

fallout 2 is pretty good
play Fallout 1 first, playing Fallout 2 while spoil the ending of Fallout 1.

If you care about the story, play FO and then FO2. If not, go ahead with FO2 since there's tons of more shit in there.

This. The beginning of the game itself ruins the ending of Fallout 1, the game relies on the player knowing what happened in Fallout 1, it doesn't do that "oh but some people might have not played the prequel so let's dumb it a little " thing

I'd say FO 1 first anyway because it's a lot more forgiving than FO 2 in the beginning.
I've just started to play 2, never got into it that much because my many years of playing RPGs like Baldur's Gate have made me a little over zealous in my combat style and a tad reckless. But after many hours of trying I made It past the first level and am now out and about in the wasteland.
I was doing well until some little shit stole my water flask in the Den and I've had to go round the houses far more to get things done, especially in the Vault City...
Pah!
From playing it though I only wish that FO3 had the same level of depth to it. I mean with its A.D.D. friendly game-play it would have made it all the more fun.
Just bought Fallout 1. Will play it later.
is there a way to play windowed it burns my eye with the stretched resolution
is there a way to play windowed it burns my eye with the stretched resolution
There are mods for that.
I'm playing the demo, not the full game, I want to see if I like it before buying
i ONLY Played tactics
god damn this confuses me
I went into the town in the demo, joined the guys in that building and after talking to a few people a bunch of people decide to do a shootout and kill everyone in town
Caps, the same in Fallout 3. Drinking Nuka Cola gives you a cap as well, I don't know why that was removed in Fallout 3
What the fuck are you talking about bro, Fallout 2 has Gold.

A dozen times more forgiving. I bet most players who haven't played Fallout 2 will try to get guns as early as they can and shoot some guys, only to be mobbed and fucked over.

Killed flick for guns got a shotgun, hunting rifle, and a .44 magnum, and the only person that became hostile to me was that goast Anna, guns were useless and the only thing of use I obtained was some combat armor.
Oh yeah, everyone knows you kill Flick at the beginning.
I don't know if this has already been said, but the end boss of FO2? [sp] Frank Horrigan? [/sp] I can't get past that jackass. I've tried everything, including the turrets. He just wipes them out. Honestly, it pisses me off to no end.

[sp]I've heard that targeting his legs will make him fall faster, so you'll win without having to take all his health.[/sp]
Don't know if it's true though.
I have Fallout 1 and 2 but I barley play them because they're so frustrating.

Alright, thanks. I'll see if that works.
Everyone should try making a character with 10 Luck and the Jinxed trait.
It's fun watching everyone around you fail, and the max luck will cancel out the double chance of failing for yourself.
Just started it. So far it's slow but interesting.

Uh no they are using that Enclave currency in FO2. Like real coins and stuff.

I fucking love GoG.com best game service ever
I have yet to try making a character with 1 intel :P
I made the mistake of setting my luck to 3.
I'm constantly getting mobbed by radscorpion packs in the wasteland.

Yeah each attribute has much more of a significant effect than in Fallout 3
Strength
Carry more, don't get accuracy handicaps with heavier weapons, more POW when you punch, more health
Perception
Sequence (decides if you attack first), ranged combat distance modifiers, first aid, doctor, lock picking, traps, pilot (fallout tactics). Also allows new dialogue options and decides how far away enemies are from you in an encounter
Endurance
Health, poison resistance, rad resistance, passive healing rate and decides how many extra max hit points are added each level
Charisma
Modifies NPC speech reactions, barter prices, lets you recruit more people (FO2). Pretty useless considering the nature of Fallout 1 and 2.
Intelligence
Keep above 4 points or your character will be retarded, adds more skill points to be used per level, dialogue options and many skills
Agility
Recommended to be pretty high or you will be attacking like once while everyone attacks you 10 times each (agility lets you perform more moves while it is your turn), modifies all weapon skills, traps, lockpicking, stealing and also increases base armour value(?)
Luck
More necessary than in FO3: Increases chance when rolling dice (i.e. rolling for a critical hit), crit chance, gambling, chance for a positive encounter, chance for a special encounter, stops your weapon blowing up in your fucking face (jinxed trait)
Forgot to add this
Every single attribute listed here can change your dialogue options somewhere in the game

Depends on how combat ready you are, I've gotten out of a load of fights thanks to haveing a good Charisma and made far more money off of missions because of it.
ATM I'm trying wack that Darion chap in Vault 15. Jesus he's a tricky one If only I could get fight him one on one then maybe I'd stand a better chance.
Oh and dose anyone know how to get to that Westin guy in NCR? Been trying for ages and I don't see to get anywhere.

Asked the Sheriff for 'honest work'? That gives you a dialogue option with the estate guard to get in.
