I've found that the problem part of the journey is with the lake area, so I drew up this basic map.
You're looking to go up the paved road with the random parts lumping off every few tiles like decoration which go up a steep hill across the water again from where you are when you cross the land bridge. NOT the road along the lake on the other side and NOT the steep hill directly on your right when you cross the bridge.
Once you're up there, follow it to the VERY end and where the road ends is the moss described in the guide, NOT the one patch on the roadside halfway along. Once you're there it's pretty much diagonally right off the end of the road, follow the sounds of people fucking about with saws and hammers.
