DÅedÅlus spÅceship simulÅtor. Really? the A font had to be the same as scandinavian Å? But yeah, looks awesome! Good luck. I only do video, so no help from me.

I would consider myself "Stargate people", but it's still waaay annoying to read since I'm Norwegian. Dawdawlus spawwceship simulawwtor :v:
@Solidsnail, @brainmaster, like @cartman300 said, it's Stargate Å, not scandinawian. Hovewer I can change it. Don't forget it's an early stage Alpha version :)) @The Jack, lots of ideas: - Sun is going to get a bloom post process shader + surface flow shader (which I've already developed under unity) + corona effect shader. - I'e already have Atmosphere shader, however I had to use a fallback as I'm currently running on much old GPU. - We could. But the point of project was to make Spaceship Simulator from nothing rather than just taking some engine and putting our model there. In fact, we've already achieved first goal - we've got flyable ship. Now it's time to extend that idea. - Why not? While we call it Daedalus, there is no reason to not call it Odyssey, or General Hammond. (however I would love to see Prometheus here). - No one mentioned about fight hand, using stargates (even about their appearance), walking on other ships, walking on planets, modifying ships. @darkrei9n, like I said yesterday to @Perl, we are kinda of "open team". We get used to not giving orders to other members but rather let them do whatever their imagination will say. So, if you wanna help us, you have to be prepared for giving some idea (or taking existing one) and just working on it :) It would be nice if you would PM me on steam on evening :)
no realistic shit physics 0/10 would not fuck

I am in no way complaining, I go through the same thing with the Stargate series :v: I'm more than excited to see where this goes and I wish you nothing but the best!
But shouldn't suns be all white with a glow round the edge that may tell the player what kind of sun they are? are suns/plannets/hive ships to be real size? anyways. I think you'd struggle with making decent planets, Ai, maybe hyperspace. not making the Sim/game repetitive. but i wish you luck.
@The Jack, I believe you missed the word "in progress". And Actually sun in space isn't same as sun visible on earth - it's not white, it's rather colorish with visible black spots on it, sun flares and corona. No said that we will be making planets, ai, hyperspace first, then ship. Simulator part is the most imporant to us even if it would mean not having good planets and so on.
And Actually sun in space isn't same as sun visible on earth - it's not white, it's rather colorish with visible black spots on it, sun flares and corona.
Actually the sun is brighter in space then from earth, because the light isn't dimmed by the atmosphere. The way you're describing is visible through certain filters.
When you guys get around to it, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand and write the music.
@Iziraider, I thoguth about that, but you are saying it's visible trough filters? Then how it should look like? @Schmoe222, oh that sounds awesome! I could even play some note on my keyboard (yeh, I'm playing on keyboard).

Without filters it should be Intensely white. i don't think that you'd see solar flares. I think that red suns might have a red glow around them, but "blue" suns probably have a very white glow. edit: maybe ships have special windows that allow for the sun to be viewed the way you want it. Else everyone on the destiny would be blind.
So I textured the bridge seats today: [IMG_thumb]http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af168/iziraider/prg2.png[/IMG_thumb]
It would be nice if this could be somehow merged with one of the procedural space simulator. Pioneer, SpaceEngine or something else.

No. It will not be. Never. I believe there are other modders that would do the job of putting daedalus into those engines. Our point is NOT to made a modification of engines you listed above, but to make an complete game. Uvmaping of daedalus outerior goes prety well (not counting lowering polycont :)). Are here any texture artist? :) Oh, an uvmapped communication center, with mine shitty textures with baked AO. [IMG_THUMB]http://i46.tinypic.com/2zi24iv.jpg[/IMG_THUMB]
Try high to low poly workflow, add more greeble and generally make it less blocky.
Model is done. I just uvmapping it already :) Btw that part is barelly visible, because of it's size.
When you guys get around to it, I'd be more than willing to lend a hand and write the music.
Now you mention it, I can play guitar for the music if you want.
I updated my model viewer with the seat textures.
Actually the sun is brighter in space then from earth, because the light isn't dimmed by the atmosphere.
I updated my model viewer with the seat textures.
It looks great. I'm loving the progress.
Guys, I've changed main screen, so there is more usual "A" and background is different. It's actually our rendered Daedalus + our space background and some simple sun. Keep in mind that model isn't properly uvmapped nor textured, so it looks a bit shitty. Also, @Schmoe222 has prepared for us new, amazing theme music that fit into our game :)

I suggest when you approach stars you burn up before really needing to render a surface. Or let us hide in the photosphere or something. Although some suns would appear reddish in space; like red giants.
Another update on the bridge model: http://dzsekeb.hostoi.com//Egyeb/WebPlayer/WebPlayer.html
I've been in a course for app and web programming for a bit under 2 years now, and I was wondering what, if any, are the difference between game and app programming? Just curious, because I've never worked on a game. I normally wouldn't ask but since this is a learning experience for you I thought you'd be in a good place to comment on it.
@blazingfly, yeh I will make the sun a big, white particle, just like you see it on earth. I made it like that, because we've always seen suns like that in Stargates (maybe their glasses had filters?). @FlakAttack, it's hard to answer the question, since I'm always programmed for game (garry's mod), but I've made simple apps with visual studio, and I'm often programming apps for microcontrolers (well, mostly in assembler but sometimes in C). I don't see any differences. I'm sure there are some, but I didn't noticed any yet :)

It's way harder than application programming.
