"The year is 2011. It is a time of no innovation or video game advancement. It is also a time of greed and CoD sequels. ActivisionBlizzard has more power than the indie developers. Everyone is fighting for their sales, for money."
"If you want to make enemies, try to change something."

"ActivisionBlizzard has opened fire on the crowd as the riots continue in front of their head quarters."
Well, if something happens to make the uninnovative sphincters at Activision crumble and disappear from the pages of history, and by that I mean Activision shutting down and all the CoD servers being lost to the ether, then kids will have no choice but to play innovative games AND LIKE THEM. *rubs hands together with a cunning grin*

Oh sing it like it is girlfriend! *not in that way :ninja:*
Innovation in FPS is dead, deal with it.

But you think that guy is serious?
Gee, he sure isn't being sarcastic
No innovation? Are you blind?
Did you see how many guns and attachments gets added each CoD release? Ofcourse some developer's don't innovate, like Valve.
I mean, Portal 1 > 2. What really changed? Coop mode, big whoop. I could play coop in 2008 with CoD: WaW.
Left 4 dead? Shameless CoD zombie mode clone. CoD is really innovating each release. And small time developers like Valve are shamelessly copying them.
Yeah, no way its a coincidence that the shotgun and smg in Half Life 2 look the same as ones from CoD
Fucking Gabe must've snuck into the meeting when they were discussing ideas for Modern Warfare

I'm not saying Gabe Newell isn't creative, I'm just saying he's channeling all of his creativity to invent new innovative ways to sprinkle his breakfast donuts.

I'm sick of people comparing VALVe to Activison. Activision is obviously the better company, they are making huge innovations in game and character design.

What have VALVe done that is this innovative and new?
How does that look any better then Spyro 1 for PS1. :saddowns: I'm so sad they messed it up like this
Either Staneh is very gullible, or he is actually an excellent counter-troll.
Well, to be fair, 2011 has some awesome releases, no matter how innovative or not. And Skyrim is gonna be awesome, fresh blood for the RPG genre, and from the trailer looks, the perspective could be rather Mirror's Edge - esque too. It may not be innovative but its not retreading the same shit.

Stop trolling,troll.
There are a select few videogames that innovate, but they are mostly indie games that are harder to find and to come by.
Bulletstorm, Crysis 2, are pretty new and good.
Bulletstorm was a nice breeze of change in the wasteland of generic CoD-copies
Crysis' concept is pretty innovative too, people just underuse it.
I heard the Crysis 2 beta is coming out tomorrow, for the PC, or did my friend lie to me? :saddowns:
The point has probably already been made as we're on the 2nd page but it's all economics, most game making companies are public, and so have shareholders to please. When planning games they're going to pick the lowest effort, quickest return and well known game formula possible in the aim of stable and high profits.
There is a low drive for innovation because it's risky and shareholders and share prices don't like risky. Of course you occasionally get companies which break this mold as you do in any market, they're the trend setters.
Bulletstorm was a nice breeze of change in the wasteland of generic CoD-copies
I heard it was very short, though...
How long does it take to finish the campaign, and what can spend more time at, if I want to get at least 20 hours of gameplay?
Oh, and innovation is dead, and has been a long time. Didn't we all know this a long time ago?
I don't buy Activision's games, nor games I don't find original.
I think games just get better with age.
Maybe the graphics, but the ideas and most of gameplay are just stolen ideas.
Quit crying about things being uncreative and copy pasted. Videogames are no different than any other medium in terms of creativity. There are golden eras, there are random gems and there are times where there is no innovation. AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
You're not being robbed, barely anything for the past two decades has been innovative enough for you to EXPECT and MISS innovation.
God damn...
Well I do find it that i'm robbed when I bought a game which I thought was awesome and it's a total bullshit game. (COUGHBLACKOPSCOUGHCOUGH)
Also, citing Call of Duty as an example of lack of creativity is as effective as citing a lack of walls is deferential to a house.

So, you honestly believed that a sequel to a game that came out a year earlier that was a sequel to a game that came out a year earlier that was a sequel to a game that came out a year earlier that was a sequel to a game that came out a year earlier and a game that had been bounced back and forth between developers had any possibility of being an innovative improvement from the previous games?
I guess I didn't factor people this dumb into my previous statement.

So you're saying we shouldn't whine about things that are bad? What should we whine about, then?
When our biggest interest (mine, at least) is worse than before, of course I'll tell you my opinion! It would be stupid to whine about good things, or to say that a bad thing is something great, wouldn't it? :raise:

I have to agree.
90% of games are ALWAYS shitty. Doesn't matter what system or when.
The reason it seems like there were more great games for older systems is that you only remember the good ones. There were still tons of shitty copy/paste games back then too.

Your expectations and requirements must be set really high if you think video games are bad since apparently, there is no innovation in today's video games. You're coming off as one of those "NES was the only time games were good!" kind of people.
Why is your biggest interest something you think is so bad? Is it that you LIKE to whine about bad things and you have nothing else to do? :raise:
I basically agree with Fhux, but seeing all the great titles this year, it ain't so. I have the feeling there were no releases in 2010. Like, literally. I didn't buy a single game I think.
