How could they reveal it, if they never said it would be free?
They never said it would be free, but I think they didn't mention a subscription system before.
I think you should always try the game before asking everyone else. By hearing all of the negative comments you will become biased when really it might be the right game for you.
They never said it would be free, but I think they didn't mention a subscription system before.
They had in the very beginning.
You're right only idiots WOULDN'T spend £25 (and then some for the bizarre subscription options) for an online fashion design game with half-assed GTA tacked on
When you buy the game you get 50 game hours that you only lose when you actually play, and you even get 10 more when you pre-order. Most games don't even have over 20 hours of gameplay. You can choose between paying with a monthly subscription or pay for hours when your 50 or 60 game hours expire. I think it's a pretty fair deal. Have you even played the BETA? Fashion game? Not really, you can customize your character if you want to instead of having an old boring person with a white shirt and jeans. The gameplay is good with friends, it's not a game you play alone.
Didn't like the beta. Felt like they were making an MMO out of Saints Row 2 to me.

Example: 20 hours of Mass Effect 2: great story, great graphics, great gameplay 50 hours of APB: no story, medioce grapchics, shitty (imo) gameplay. Comparing singleplayer games with MMO's doesn't work in a favor of MMO. [editline]10:45PM[/editline] a bit clumsy, but I hope you get the point.
I heard there aren't any levels in this game to advance in, I think there should be at least ranks, like for Enforcer, Officer, for Criminal, like Mob Boss etc.

Gameplay is fun in my opinion, everyone have different opinions. APB is really a love it or hate it game.
Beta wasn't worthwhile, so my opinion on the game stands as thus.
preordering soon
Customizing cars was the most interesting thing. I made The DENTISTRY mobile!
this thread is like pc vs ps3 vs xbox 360, grow up guys and learn to respect others' opinions or deal with it
Couldn't even play the game. No I didn't pre-order it.
They never said it would be free, but I think they didn't mention a subscription system before.
Their initial plan was free to play. They did actually say it. Didn't pre-order. Not to keen on the payment method for the type of game.

Compare: 50 hours of APB: No story, awesome customization, good gameplay 50 hours of RivaGe whining: No story, nothing, apart from the opinion of someone that just doesn't like the payment method, thus he will just whine about it. :sax: Which one is better now?
gameplay is such a stupid word. it doesn't even mean anything!

What he said is pretty true, at least the fact that you can't compare MMO hours to hours in other games.
I heard there aren't any levels in this game to advance in, I think there should be at least ranks, like for Enforcer, Officer, for Criminal, like Mob Boss etc.
There are levels. Your player has a rating which is like your level as you would have in WoW. This is at the sort of scale where it will take a few days to get to R100 then a week to R150 then a couple of weeks to R200. I'm not aware of a maximum rating level yet but the beta wasn't long enough to test. You also have a threat level which is shown as a symbol next to your name. This is like your current skill level. It goes up and down depending on your performance in missions. This is on a scale of 1-15 with 15 being very hard to get to. This together with your Rating is used in the matchmaking system to ensure you are fighting people the same skill level as you. Then there are organization and contact standings/levels. For each team, there are two main sides. For criminals there are the G-Kings and the Bloodroses. For enforcers there are the Praetorians and the Prentiss Tigers. They both have several contacts spread across the Waterfront district and Financial District. As you complete missions with these contacts you gain levels with them and the organisation as a whole. You will slowly unlock more contacts, weapons, vehicles etc as you level up with contacts and the organisations. Finally your character has some of it's own specific specialised levels. Not quite sure to explain it but you can unlock new rewards by levelling up these. These include stuff like arresting, killing, assisting teammates etc. When you reach certain milestones like 100 kills. You will unlock new stuff. This is against the NDA and I have posted this anonymously. The game is fucking awesome and I have played nearly 100 hours in total. I'm not sure if it's the way I approached things but I havn't found it boring. THere is so much stuff to try. Join a clan or something, there are some great people playing this game! Also, the reason hackers havn't been banned is because it helps RTW to make the game more secure for release. The more hacks used, the more RTW can do to stop them.
I hated it, they paired high levels against low on many occasions, and they were completely unbeatable, meaning you failed tons of missions, and then it gets easier as you go. That is backwards.
Mass Effect 2 is also a rip off. 50 bucks for a bunch of cutscenes and repetitive gunfights. Where did the RPG aspects that gave everything meaning go? And if you want more, you should buy the DLC! Anyway, APB looks good in concept but fails utterly miserably in practice. I stopped playing the beta after my second weekend. It was just so dreadfully boring to shoot down some noobs and then get owned because my opponent had a better gun that I did.

If you want my opinion so badly go to apb thread and read it.
Maybe if they don't release at the time it is supposed to. Lets wait a while, Like a millennium.
Well it was only in beta, I think that they might unveil a LOT more content, I'd like specialized missions given by NPC's though, or if no NPC's, since it's ALL player interacted, how about the person with the highest level in each server and each side gets to be the "Leader" and he / she can assign missions. That would be cool
I read a large article in PC Zone about it. Looks pretty awesome and I'll try the beta now, but this really isn't a gaming computer and can't run L4D1 well. For those who really are unsure about the whole 'monthly fees' thing, I'm pretty sure it said it was just one payment at the start and your ISP can just eat up all of your money from internet usage.
