Why the tech of the Halo Universe is a step backward.

I'm sorry but I can't tell if you're being serious unless you make it blatantly obvious. It's not like I can see your facial expression or hear your tone of voice.
Really..I found killing flood with covie weapons to be the longest and intense times in the world.
I mean compare how a halo 1 pistol vs a needler.
Most of the time using a needler = death
Dual wielding plasma pistols kills them like nothing's business though.
the jeep in halo was equal to a jeep from ww1/2

lol in halo 1 you could fire off a plasma pistol so fast i considered it to be the best weapon in the game
There's obviously things that are done for the sake of gameplay, have you seen how fast the rocket flies? Yeah.
Yeah, they have lots of amazing tech, like a practically unarmored and completely revealing troop transport vehicle. (Warthog)

Exactly! Along that point, 11 years ago, we used FLOPPY DISKS and a Gigabyte was a lot of data. Look at the difference in computer graphics alone.
And in Halo they have three dimensional storage matrices in the form of data crystals
I think they can store shitloads of data considering the small chip the Chief carries has Cortana, essentially a full human personality plus incredible amounts of compressed data from the first halo
I think the only reason they use text-based interstellar communication is because bandwith costs, a lot
they could combat the flood
i mean they glassed that section earth when the flood ship came to earth and problem was solved like nothing happened
Well the black population of Earth was significantly reduced considering half of Africa was glassed, and the fires would probably burn down even more forests
Most weather patterns on the planet would probably change on the long term

Exactly. (The Warthog part)

:( why africa
Yeah having limited ammo sure is improved tech
They explained that in the game, you idiot.
Whoa, didn't realize how late I was.
:( why africa
Maybe because it's a VERY large continent and has a huge population of humans?
I think "half a continent" was a bit of an exaggeration, but a large area for sure.
I think they pretty much calculated how far a flood spore could have gotten if it hitched a ride on a military transport or something, and then glassed everything within that area. And a little extra just in case.
I think "half a continent" was a bit of an exaggeration, but a large area for sure.
Even if it isn't half of the continent that's still a huge amount of people dead.
I remember reading an article where the author visited the WETA workshop in New Zealand to look at all the sweet Halo swag they created.
Apparently, if Warthogs were real, the curved windshield would refract light so that you could not see anywhere but forward. Driving a Warthog into battle would be the future equivalent of wearing one of these:
Halo is filled with amazing future tech.
Like troop transport vehicles which leave the drivers wide open to small arms fire.

And provide just about as much protection against Covenant plasma.

Yep, REALLY SMART.

yeah it shows because in halo marines drive into walls or off cliffs and die
that's why i always drive
I like how when you posted on the forums they are trying to reinforce their point so hard it makes them look stupid as hell.

LOOK stupid as hell?
Yeah but most Human weapons could kill a flood, heck even melee weapons...Using a needler a far distance is alright, everything else is risky.
Speaking of which it's funny how it's backward to OP when the gameplay of driving banshee's seems to be better in future games then in past

What?
Even if it isn't half of the continent that's still a huge amount of people dead.
Better then getting infested by parasites and dooming the world
Like troop transport vehicles which leave the drivers wide open to small arms fire.
Holds 3 people.
Definitely troop transport.
Holds 3 people.

it is
a bike is considered a troop transport
Even if it isn't half of the continent that's still a huge amount of people dead.
The less they glassed the better chance of the rest of the world going down with half of Africa.
It's obviously meant for very fast entering and exiting is it that hard?
It also has a powerful turret that pretty much upgrades it to a light attack vehicle.
[editline]4th January 2011[/editline]
It's not like it's unrealistic, look the fuck at this, a warthog is a million times more armored than this
The less they glassed the better chance of the rest of the world going down with half of Africa.
i don't think glassing is that bad
it's not like they completely destroyed the planet i mean look at reaches ending, it grew new grass and stuff again and fixed itself
Holds 3 people.

What about the Pelican? That marvelous piece of design has a completely back, where the troops sit!
Or the scorpion tank, where the driver and passengers are all wide open, with little protection.
The Pelican has a hatch like on a Hercules and the scorpion is for gameplay reasons because it's so ridiculously overpowered. It's not like people get a chance at shooting at you anyway because of that.

The Pelican's door can be sealed, but for dramatic reasons, it tends not to be.

It's hardly overpowered, it's just doing what a tank does, blowing shit up and moving slowly. It's piss easy to kill an enemy one in all the halo games.
