• Why the tech of the Halo Universe is a step backward.
I definitely agree with this. I always based my arguments for the Halo universe off of the games, not the books. The books seem to be there for the sole purpose of portraying Master Chief as God, and they are not even well-written to be honest.
Alright then. Back to human tech. -The lauded Assault rifle. Considering that it looks the size of a modern day assault rifle one could only guess that the only way 60 bullets would fit into the magazine would be if they were all pistol cartridges. No wonder it takes a whole magazine to kill an alien (this, according to fan, is on heroic which, also according to the fans, is the cnon difficulty.) -Apparently it fires 7.62 FMJ AP rounds. Bullshit.
Well it is Brute technology, and we've established that Brutes are fucking retarded. They sent themselves into near extinction upon entering the atomic age like 2-3 times, and each time they didn't learn the lesson that pushing the "launch everything" button might not be a good idea.
It was invented by a Huragok (Engineer) who wanted to give it to humans as a farming tool as a peace offering after accidently killing a man. However when the Brutes found it, his Grunt friend lied to the Brutes and told them it was a new weapon he was building for them to save the engineer.

This small snippet of backstory just beat the entire halo story line.
What? So I'm not even allowed a fucking opinion without you insulting me? Damn, you're intolerant. According to you, just because I hate a game because in my opinion, it isn't fun, that makes me a hater just because others hate it. THE HALO GAMES AREN'T FUN IN MY OPINION. IT'S MY OPINION. ACCEPT MY OPINION LIKE A NORMAL PERSON.
It doesn't even fucking qualify as an opinion unless you back it up.
It doesn't even fucking qualify as an opinion unless you back it up.
Do you even understand what an opinion is? An opinion is not a statement; it is simply a person's personal feelings about a particular subject matter. You don't need to back up your own opinion. Either way, you haven't backed up most of your statements. You are simply being obnoxious.
It doesn't even fucking qualify as an opinion unless you back it up.
This has got to be the single dumbest thing I'm ever going to read in 2011. And it's the second week of January.
Oh my god that is rich. This small snippet of backstory just beat the entire halo story line.
Do you think im joking? Because im not, its in Contact Harvest.
Pity, this thread was just starting to get interesting again. Then BmB came back.
It doesn't even fucking qualify as an opinion unless you back it up.
...and the worst thing is, you're not even going to realize why this is so stupid to say... [editline]12th January 2011[/editline] I've always wondered about the design of mass effect weapons, their collapsible after all. What're the limits of that technology?
In terms of pure strength, the Covenant Hunter takes the cake. However, the Covie Hunter is VERY slow, and not very agile at all. It's fuel rod cannon is powerful, though not that hard to dodge. Combine Hunters are big and strong, yet also very agile. A few well placed flechettes to the back of the Covie Hunter, and the Covie Hunter is dead. [editline]12th January 2011[/editline] Gordon Freeman also had access to heavier weapons right off the bat, such as RPG's and the Gravity Gun, which makes it easier for Gordon to kill Hunters. If he fought one, Gordon could probably kill a Covenant Hunter with ease.
Alright, I guess it is better. Good debate.
Alright, I guess it is better. Good debate.
How about this: 3 Striders vs. One Scarab
How about this: 3 Striders vs. One Scarab
Do remember that Striders are smaller and faster, along with them being much more maneuverable. A scuttling Strider can strafe a Scarab with ease, blow its top off with a well-aimed Disintegrator Beam, and freely allow anyone else to pick off the targets within.

While at first glance, it would seem the Strider had no chance, he Strider is much more agile, and harder to hit, and the Strider's warp beam could easily blow off a Scarab's leg. If there were two or three well-coordinated Striders, they could easily surround the Scarab and destroy it.
Hell, a loaded Dropship could take out a Scarab, since it has an easily-accessed single bridge with an easy landing zone for soldiers.
Exactly. How hard would it be for the Combine to land a dropship on the scarab, and deploy troops to take out the generator? Bye bye Scarab! Really, I don't think the Covies have much of a chance against the Combine, especially considering that the Overwatch you see in half-Life 2 is only a fraction of the Combine empire.
Through one strider getting in the blast of the scarab's lazor cannon would get destroyed, not to mention some of the design of the scarabs appear it can make it's line of lazor switch direction (not by much through...the head take's a lot to move) In short if it's a 1on1 match...that strider better be moving fast and take it out quickly. If it's a gang bang....Scarab is doomed

You seem to have the delusion that if ANYONE agrees with popular opinion, it's JUST because they want to be accepted. It's called POPULAR Opinion for a reason, you know! An opinion isn't some magical fantasyland stance you can just take for no reason. Yes, it's your feelings on a subject, based on your experiences, thoughts, hopes, and so on. If you haven't got anything like that to back up your feelings then you didn't form the opinion yourself and are just hopping on the bandwagon to be cool.
Chosen, can i say that you are one of the smartest people on this thread right now?
lol thanks, but that isn't really saying much (I'm not referring to you BTW.) You then jumped in and accused him of jumping on the hate bandwagon, simply because his opinion was similar to the public one. Either way, it is very hypocritical of you to call out others for not backing up your statements, when you rarely do so yourself.

I have a Halo addicted friend) and I DON'T THINK THEY'RE FUN IN ANY WAY! I already said that I tried them and think that they suck and you said I have nothing to back it up! I PLAYED THEM. I DIDN'T LIKE THEM. I THINK THEY SUCK. PERIOD. [editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
lol thanks, but that isn't really saying much (I'm not referring to you BTW.) That's not a reason.
That's not a reason.
Playing a game and thinking it's generally not fun isn't a reason to dislike it? The funny part is that it makes perfect sense to me. (I didn't just think it wasn't fun, I thought all the games were total shit with a HORRIBLE story)
That's not a reason.
I thought you were making a point about backing up statements. Why don't you do it first? You have amused me enough for one day BmB, I will talk to you tomorrow. Good day sir.

I know I sound like a broken record, but seriously guys, if you want to see some amazing stuff, try reading the new Halo book. Greg Bear is a fantastic writer, the Forerunners are such badasses. Also, there were apparently 12 Halo rings. Don't know why there are only 7(6) now.
Redundancy perhaps? Maintain complete coverage while accounting for any lost to the flood.
Perhaps, but after seeing what the Halos can do, redundancy doesn't seem to be a necessity. The Halos weren't just tools of starvation for the Flood, they were actual superweapons. They killed all complex organic life, including Flood forms. I don't know, man. After reading what the Forerunners are capable of...it's kinda disturbing. Also, the Precursors were UGLY ASS MOTHER FUCKERS. Seriously. They were described as scorpion people.

People can like and dislike shit for whatever reason they want. Most people do. Some don't. Lay off, you already ruined the thread with your bickering.
