Well, this thread died.

By all means Halo CE was an extremely fun game with a nice premise story-wise (bad execution though), but a master craft, it is not. Marathon is better story-wise.

So true.
I've always preferred single-player games over multiplayer games, which is why I'd choose Half-Life over Halo.
That's my reason too, I have friends that are like "HEY WANT TO GO PLAY CAL UV DOOTY?!" and I'm the one who loves good stories in singleplayer. I almost never play multiplayer unless it's a unique experience.

Very true.
I find it hilarious how a few pages back, he was calling out CakeMaster for not backing up his points, while he himself (BmB) never backs up his statements. Why thank you for defending me in my absence.

Sadly yes, but it can be saved! GET THE NEEDLE, LET'S INJECT SOME INTELLIGENT AND INTERESTING DISCUSSION INTO THIS THREAD!

I agree, I generally play single player games. There are a few multiplayer games that stuck with me though, one of them being TF2.
Halo's multiplayer is fun, but it certainly isn't the best. There are much better options. Same with Call of Duty.

Somehow, I have the feeling BmB won't be coming back to this thread soon. Pity, his 'arguments' provided me with much laughter.

Exactly. I play TF2 and a few other multiplayer games because they're more than a glorified deathmatch. TF2 is VERY unique and fun.
And I too will miss his hilarious excuses for an argument.
Yeah all them hats....
Yeah all them hats....
I DO have to agree that TF2 has been getting less fun with all the newer shit happening. I don't mind the hats much but the microtransactions and overpowered weapons take it too fucking far. That's why I LOVE the idea of the Beta Valve made, it shows that even THEY realize there's something wrong instead of saying "Hey, it took money to make it, it's staying in the game".
So, I read the first six or so pages. Are we still talking about future weapons in here?

I wish, the fanboyism (The "MSTR CHEEF WOOD PWN AL UV MAS EFECT" Part) derailed the thread and brought us to where we are now, trying to bring it back, but we simply lack the amount of people needed.
Fucking Needlers, how do they work?

They don't. It's all one giant conspiracy.

Then let us fight the good fight and discuss future weapons.
Personally I'm a fan of the idea of laser and plasma-based weaponry, plasma is more sci-fi at the moment but still really cool, but the US navy are now actually using lasers on warships (for real. check it out ) as a kind of point defense system.
One advantage of using lasers in space would be that they'd be impossible to dodge. You'd have to maneuver out of the enemy's cone of fire.
Also, while it's been noted that atmospheric-style dogfighting should be impossible in space, would it not be possible to use counter-thrust to deal with that problem? The one realistic use of it I've seen is in X3 : if you roll in the ship while looking out the window, you can see a thruster shortly fire on one side and then stop, putting the ship into a fixed-speed spin, and then when you want to stop spinning, you see a thruster fire shortly in the opposite direction and then stop. I thought that was a really neat touch.
Oh, and anyone into space dogfighting NEEDS to play Freespace 2. It's like a fiver off GOG. Get it :buddy:
I find it very amusing that the people on the Bungie.net thread actually seem to WANT the Covenant to win over humans.

The only reason Master Chief stands a chance against any other video game character is because he has a bunch of books which basically portray him as Jesus with a gun. If you've played Halo, you'd know that he is horribly weak in game. And contrary to popular belief, just because he says a few one-liners in game, that doesn't give him a personality.

TF2 Team > Any Halo Character
Hell, the astronauts in moonbase alpha has more character than him.
Hell, the astronauts in moonbase alpha has more character than him.
Well, yeah, John Madden can testify as to that.
Why don't we continue our discussion about the Combine Hunter Chopper vs. the Banshee?
I always thought the Halo tech sucked right from the first Halo game. I noticed it because it made me rage. The sniper rifle leaves one hell of a tracer, what's the point in being a sniper when each shot reveals your location. You can be hidden like crazy and you'll still reveal yourself.
The warthog is the most unstable vehicle ever. You'd do better on a unicycle. Slightest knock and the warthog flips.
The tanks and the weapons in general have the worst accuracy. It took a while mag of the assault rifle to kill a guy for me ... he was right in front of me. The assault rifles effective range is like 6meteres.

I daresay Halo is the single most well made shooter of the past 20 years.
Basically of all time.

Master Chief is rather the only game character that isn't ridiculously overpowered for no reason. You can beat these endless hordes of enemies because you are a super soldier. That does not make him weak. That makes everyone else overpowered and ADHD.

The tank is actually one of the only things in the game with a realistic range, due to it's fast projectile with low drop.
The other things there are for gameplay reasons. There's nothing fun about camping sniper douchebags. The tracer helps you identify where the shot came from and forces the sniper to either keep on the move or close in. Which is where the 6m ranged rifle comes in, because the gameplay works best at fairly close ranges.

How? Tell me how Halo is the best shooter of all time? Please, I'm willing to listen, because I cannot comprehend how anyone would consider Halo to be the best shooter of the past 20 years.
Because it's extremely well put together? The game logic is the most well formed I can recall seeing. It's extremely well simulated in a way that not only makes sense, but makes sense with the story.

Like half life? :smug:
But really, I found it a bit revolutionary because it mixed the way you can use weapons. Most games have different weapons to use different things, like a separate weapons for grendades, melee, and whatnot. You could melee with any weapon, and throw grenades with any weapon out. I am not sure if it was done before, but it was new for me. I also found the vehicles fun too, and the story was pretty awesome too.
