Why the tech of the Halo Universe is a step backward.

Also, a properly executed Mass Effect+Star Trek+Halo+Star Wars+W40k Crossover game= Facepunch ceases to exist, millions stay in their homes and die of malnutrition from not leaving their computers.

Aye, but only if the gameplay is just as epic.

Warhammer 40k would probably overshadow the rest through the sheer scale of it though.

That makes me wonder how a Keyship would fare against a Sovereign-class starship, or an Imperial Star Destroyer.
and then starcraft
cuz starcraft is cool
What I don't understand is, why don't the Marines simply use reactive armor? As soon as the plasma hits the plate, it explodes, taking the molten glob with it.
The Death Star trumps ALL. It can blow up a planet every few MINUTES.(The second one could) The Covenant can't do THAT, can they?
Capital Ships of the Imperial Fleet in Wh40K can destroy a planet in a few different ways, from virus bombinb and turning all life into fuel to set the world on fire, to cracking the core.
plus no imperial ship has yet been lost to a farm boy shooting an exposed shaft.

Because the exploive force would probably kill them, any sort of explosion that near to important organs = bad.

I don't want your tawdry space mining/economics simulator! I'm taking the actual universes colliding. The Normandy being captained by Picard, firing a MAC cannon at a Star Destroyer being controlled by a warp demon.
I always wondered how the hell you were supposed to aim with the assault rifle in Halo, and where the scope was on the magnum.
And as for the whole thing about technology in Mass Effect, those humans found that technology early on from Prothean ruins. The humans in Halo developed their own tech, which is why it took longer to do and wasn't as futuristic when finished.
in assassins creed you always wore white because you killed people during daytime and the sky was whiteish
That and back then the idea of camouflaging yourself was usually restricted to painting any bare metal black so it wouldn't glint in the sunlight. That's what the Romans did when they invaded Britain.

they would only be able to take two hits then and plasma guns are rapid fire
they would only be able to take two hits then and plasma guns are rapid fire
I'd rather be able to take 2 hits rather than none.
Not so much the Borg. One of the Star Trek EU novels touches on using plasma weaponry against the Borg.
It didn't end well.
Whether the Borg can fight back depends on whether the Borg could take over the Covenant Infantry.(You know, the way they do with Humans)

Well, the limited use of true energy weapons in Halo leads me to believe that the Forerunner Keyships wouldn't fare overwhelmingly great, but would probably hold their own. The Sovereign class is beastly, and with proper phasers and quantum torpedoes...it wouldn't end well. Star Destroyer, I suppose the same principle holds, but I'm not exactly a big Star Wars fan, so I can't really cite any truth.

The type of Star Destroyer makes a difference on the outcome but I can say that Star destroyers are ENORMOUS and extremely overwhelmingly powerful. (At least in the Star Wars universe) They have huge amounts of weaponry on them and incredibly tough armor.

The green HUD the marines wear creates a dynamic crosshair where the weapon is pointing I suppose.

I'd assume they could. Those nanoprobes seem to rewire everything, even 8472. So I'm guessing they could readily assimilate any Covenant species, save the Hunters and Engineers, as their biology is just entirely alien for the purpose.

Actually now that I think of it, the overall feel of Eve rather accurately portrays what publicized space flight would be like.
Spreadsheets and mining while being millions of times more wealthy than the average citizen.
I'd rather be able to take 2 hits rather than none.
they could probably take a few
i dont know what their armor is made out of but it could probably take a plasma beating

I'd hope they wouldn't wear it if they couldn't even take 1 hit.

As would I. I'm not a very big Star Trek fan (haven't really watched much more than a few movies) but the Borg always seemed to be able to take over any alien species.

That, I agree on. I went in expecting World of Warcraft in space.
I spent the better part of a few months being proven wrong.

Actually, I think the UNSC would stand a better chance against a Star Destroyer. IIRC, they have 2 shield types, one for kinetic energy like small asteroids, and their energy shields, for the skyscraper size lasers. Since their really aren't too many kinetic space weapons in Star Wars, I think it's reasonable to assume that their kinetic shields would be weaker, a weakness that the UNSC's MAC's could exploit.
When it comes right down to it, you got to ask yourself one thing:
where the chainsaws at, bro?

Almost anything, anyway. In one of the series, an alien lifeform from another part of the universe managed to make their way to our galaxy, because the Borg basically flipped them off on behalf of the Milky Way races. They couldn't assimilate them until the main series ship, Voyager, helped out. Enemy of my enemy type of deal.

Their Particle Shields (used against physical objects) are VERY powerful since the Star Destroyers are so huge that they would be regularly pummeled by asteroids without them. (or random space debris) Also, the Empire took went over the top on EVERYTHING because they were always prepared.

I played the demo. Mined for 6 days. Straight, pretty much. 7th day I go off looking for missions, 20 jumps into what I later learned was pirate space. Got blown up and didn't play after that.
I'd play it if I didn't have to pay, or if it was like $5/month.

I remember reading that a single round from a single turbolaser (And, even then, it's possibly not at full power) is 2x the energy released by the Hiroshima bomb.
