Why the tech of the Halo Universe is a step backward.
And I'm probably wrong, but when objects reach relativistic speeds, don't they increase in weight exponentially?
That was actually a principle the MAC cannons operated on.

They do, which is another coincidentally good reason to use mass effect fields.
This thread seems like a simple rant against the Halo series. Stop being nitpicky to this game, when you can pick out worse concepts in other games.
Not really, looks to me like everything is getting weighed against each other pretty fairly.
Well, I can't think of anything, except that it'd make french kissing a real bitch.
Space marines probably lack all sex drive or ideas of love anyway. Also:
After all of these implantations and alterations to the human body, there is a serious debate whether or not Space Marines are human. While they indubitably serve humanity, they are at least two meters tall, can breathe poison and eat through metal.
Definitely someone you'd want to french kiss.
There was a tree on some planet who's pollen caused their crab armor to swell up, killing the soldier. It was insanely successful until they wiped out the planet the tree was on.
That wasn't the biological weapon. They had a virus that could kill every single Yuuzhan Vong AND their biotechnology in a very short period of time. That pollen just caused an allergic reaction to the armor.
Not really, looks to me like everything is getting weighed against each other pretty fairly.
Thing is, it's a video game. Surely the OP has better things to do than research various situational modern-day weaponry and compare them to various fictional apparatus.
This thread is PURE WIN.
also in the future,
chainsaw bayonets, heavy and prone to jam mechanics, are a must on standard issue weaponry. stocks however, are unheard of! it is also very important to stick as many bright LEDs to them as possible, this shows the enemy that you are meaning business, and not playing some stupid video-game.

It's a glowing machine gun with a giant fucking chainsaw on it. I'd take that over a laser blaster or some shit any day.
Not to mention, the Covenant's air force (banshees etc.) would be easily outclassed by modern day fighter jet etc.
how come mac cannons don't fly away when they fire
I'd assume because they are magnetically accelerated, which probably counter-recoils itself due to its nature.

You'd think when TRILLIONS of your people are dying, you'd be pretty eager to enact revenge on an entire species of genocidal maniacs.

i see
It's a glowing machine gun with a giant fucking chainsaw on it. I'd take that over a laser blaster or some shit any day.
Not only are chainsaws heavy, but they require LOTS of energy. You'd basically have an overweight gun once your run out of power.
Covenant plasma weapons have never made sense to me. Plasma is super heated gas made up of free electrons. The stuff they shoot out of their weapons seems to have some sort of mass and seems very globular. If it was real plasma it would just mist out of the barrel of the weapon and dissipate in the air.
Am I wrong?

Yeah, but it's interesting to see who would win what.
According to the Halo books, getting struck on unexposed flesh by Covenant plasma not only blows a big motherfucking hole in your body, but raises the core body temperature. So now you've got burns, body-mangling injuries, shock, and your organs are virtually boiling themselves causing little ruptures all throughout your body. Bleeding is gonna be the least of your problems.
also Flood/Borg/Yuuzhan-Vong/Reapers war, what do

I'd take an AK-47 over a Lancer any day
and then duct taped a chainsaw to it.

It's a game, not real life. If it was real life, the plasma would burn the skin off the humans down to the bone, maybe even further.
This is a really interesting thread. And since when was it a rant against the Halo series? Its just a few people discussing what a game would be like if it happened in the real world.
Not only are chainsaws heavy, but they require LOTS of energy. You'd basically have an overweight gun once your run out of power.
The better to pistol-whip the shit out of you, my dear.
Not only are chainsaws heavy, but they require LOTS of energy. You'd basically have an overweight gun once your run out of power.
yeah but soldiers will also be giant men and women on steroids who wear boom boxes on their chest
Also the human tech is weird - in 500 years, do you think we would really still be using bullets?
And there are no hoverboards or flying cars
Since the Universe of Star Wars is based mostly on Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, the galaxy probably has a population in the quintillions (I remember reading The Empire from the Foundation series had a population in the octillions, so this isn't that much of a stretch.)

You know the Jedi and their "It's WRONG!" rants.

It's either held in by a magnetic force field projected by the weapon, or, more likely for the torpedoes case, have a central core that is guided by the ship, and projects a magnetic field.

Wheras boltgun rounds just blow up inside you and vary from high explosive to acidic and even highly incencdiary.

It DOES have Quintillions.

Reapers would be annihilated in the first attack, they're easily the weakest of the races.

Lulz.
in the future, humanity will face an alien threat that can perform intergalactic flight, has hover bikes and cloaking devices
and weaponry from 1942(?)

I refuse to give a fuck whether it's practical or not but it sure as hell is badass.
