It relieves me of the thought that if i hadn't last hit Roshan i would've got worse items than what i had received, however if i get a common item on that occasion, reality hits..
Though I've heard that the last hitters get better essence drops? Doubtful though.
I usually get essences when I [i]don't[/i] last hit him though. I usually get shitty commons when I do.

You can tell if you got the last hit because you'll get bonus last-hit gold from the kill.

How hard is that. It's been like that since day 1. People saw what loot they were going to get, and then STILL tried to argue that last-hitting Rosh got you somehow better items, even though you got exactly what was shown pre-fight.
Every diretide game goes the same old format for me.
Gain candy advantage.
Kill enemies a few times, gain bigger candy advantage.
Rosh spawns, near the end of the timer the enemy makes one massive push into our base and takes all our candy, suddenly they do a billion damage and have infinite HP. They end up winning.

Our prophet had a maelstrom and a divine rapier godly early from him feeding it was insane.

it says it's a lost but we actually won. in the first minute of the game we were down 12-38 because they just had too much team fight early on. once i hit 6 though it was all down hill for them.

i've just noticed what determines if you've won or lost a diretide match on your history/dotabuff page is which team last hits roshan apparently.
I think hero rewards and picks are linked. Like if you pick drow you get drow ranger items. Maybe another criteria that your team last hits roshan
Seen it happen many times (a jugger getting jug mask), beginning to think if its a coincidence or not.

ive often got items for heroes I never play (like natures prophet items when I literally never played him)
I play Venomancer most often but never get any Venomancer items. :(
