This is badass. In large, long-lasting servers there will no doubt be abandoned forts and dungeons filled with old libraries and possibly even cartographer's chambers, in time.
Oh, with that said it would be great if there was a bookcase block that you could use and write whatever you wanted in.

That reminds me, notch really does listen to suggestions. Back when spider eyes didn't glow red, a guy made a fake picture of spiders with red eyes. I showed the picture to notch in an email, requesting that he add that. The next day he replied that he would, and so he did. :D .
EDIT:
On the topic of more metals, that doesn't feel right to me for this game. Maybe ONE more thing, but it needs to be something very different. Notch said that he'd eventually add Obsidian to survival, which might have special properties later, and that seems like the right final block to add to me. To clarify, he said that eventually he wants physics to be completed, such as the floating islands would fall. That obsidian would be a floating block, allowing for floating islands.
he should make a map system
Signs will be useful in creative mode for marking what you made without having to take up a lot of room writing it in blocks.
Of course, it will make stealing credit that much easier, too...

I was actually thinking about that. Walking along an infinite map... all of a sudden a building looms in the distance. The sides a little torn out from being partially dismantled for resources. Dark rooms filled with danger as a spider could leap on your face at any second.
It would be like Urbex in Minecraft. :buddy:
Also, I like that book idea. Someone go tell Notch, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to code now that he's got signs coded.
Can you imagine on the "lets play" minecraft thing if it had books. Each person could add alittle to their book when its their turn. t'would be sweet.

My apologies for being non-existent... I've been watching a new project in Garry's Mod called gCraft. It's Minecraft, but it uses PropCore (an Expression 2 Function) to make... Well... Minecraft!

I play indev and I dont generate a flat map, i'll look when the sun comes up
Journal Day #4 Lava
Well, I made it down my mine. I found lava, never knew it could look so bright, I stopped using torches when I got to it, for saving them of course.
I had good dreams last night. I found my little sheep, he was stuck in a hole in my cave, I got him out safely, I think I might make a cage for him.
I always wonder who might find this journal, and when. Will I be alive? Will they throw it away or write in it? I don't know, but I need to get back to work.
I will be in my mine for the rest of the day, I will come back at night and check the plants, and maybe plant some more. I will use some pages as a reminder, hopefully I can find something to make signs with and navigate, maybe tomorrow.
By the way, whatever happened to the Facepunch City (Mald's) server?

Anyway, Indev always goes really slow for me. I get low framerates. Yet in Infdev and Survival, I'm just fine. This is bugging me... Even with my render distance set to "tiny", I get 15 FPS and light doesn't spread.
This occurs typically during the day/night and night/day transitions. Most of the time, though, it's just fine.

That was happening to me just then, low frame rates and when i destroyed a block it was pitch black for a good few seconds, same with torches, they wouldnt light up anything for a few seconds, so i went to infdev
