Oh god, I'm completely lost. I accidentally suicided out my window...
I like it for the extra challenge. Plus its fun to watch mobs jump off the edge trying to get to you. Just save, alot.

Notch must know of this idea.
now.
The great tower is complete! Aside from some interior work that needs to be done.

To anyone who thinks minecraft is a resource hog: trust me, it's not. For a 16x16x16 chunk of blocks, it has to take into account 4096 different blocks. That means every time that you go into infdev and take a look out over a landscape on a mountain, you're probably rendering tens of thousands of blocks, and processing hundreds of thousands that are unseen, underground, every frame. And yet, the majority of people here still get a framerate much higher than anybody would ever need.

You guys like my wheat farm? Makes more wheat than I will ever need though.
Oh hey, I just made one too! It's a greenhouse.

Perfectly mob/animal-proof and accidentally-stepping-on-the-plants-proof. That's what the floating glass is for. I'm not finished placing all the glass yet, but I already have two full chests of bread and enough wheat to fill several more chests with bread anyway. :v:
Good idea, anyway. I started on a balcony sorta thing on my tower to keep crops safe.
I think I might have to steal your greenhouse idea, though.
Yeah, I was thinking about something like that, but those God damned animals seem to be able to get into nearly everything unless it can only be accessed by going deep underwater. That's why I connected it to my main tower, which has an underwater entrance. Thank God we're getting doors soon; it's going to make life 1,000% easier.
That and fixed water. I've been assuming that I'm not the only one who has broken water that won't flow...right?

Yeah water isn't active in infdev yet. I also finally finished a glass fenced garden just need to get more wheat seeds ,but I have a ton of saplings.
Also where does one usually find gravel, I haven't found any at all?

I usually just wander until I find a deposit of it. It might just be coincidence, but it seems like I usually find it at the foot of tall cliffs near areas that have overhanging land. It's usually near sand, too. But that could just be me.
Looks pretty spiffy, though fairly unorganized (visually, anyway). Though the jumbled appearance also makes it visually interesting, and in that sense it does have pretty good balance. I'd like to see it with the tree grown up.

Just saying, you don't need water in infdev to make them grow.
All you need is light

That's odd, because I've had a row of crops die out on me and the tilled land dry up because it was too far away from a water source. :raise:
Guess I'll have to go check it again.

That might be because animals walk on them.

If you're playing indev, it needs water.
I can't get anything to grow even next to water D: do you need seeds or something?

Planting seeds in the soil seems to help in my experience
You get seeds by hitting grass with the hoe, there is a random change a bunch of seeds will fly out.

Alright I tested it and yeah, I was wrong. I must have been thinking about back when I last played Indev or something.
Are there sponges in indev or infdev? Or is it just creative?
when flowing water comes out, sponges are gonna be really useful for draining underground water or if you accidentally mine into a lake
Been making a underground home in the floating landscape. It's quite challenging to do as you can easily destroy too much rock without knowing how much is beneath you and send yourself plummeting to the bottom of the map.
Anyway, on to the pictures so far. It's not visually pleasing, but I like how it works.
The main room is not that good looking, but it's really designed for construction.

Looking out the window at the floating island.

Staircase to the mining operation in the cave below.

And the mining operation itself. It's pretty depleted now, but you can get pretty nice views of the floating landscape.
[IMG_thumb]http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Unib/Minecraft/floating_fort_4.png[/IMG_thumb]
Ultra ugly unfinished exterior which needs quite a fair bit of work.

An exterior view of the window in the main room.

That's not completely all of it, there's still quite a few corridors but these are the main parts of it.
Pretty old but REALLY awesome. I hope he optimises it more so that it can create much larger worlds a lot faster.
Theres a variable in there to set the speed at which the blocks spawn, but thats limited to what the "sbox_E2_maxPropsPerSecond" is set at.
Also source can only handle 2048 entities before an engine error, and about 200 are already taken up, so you can only really have a max of about 1750 blocks.
Wow that was late.
i got my pandora yesterday
so, well, at around noon yesterday, i got a phone call from ups, saying they had a package for me. One hour later, i promised myself i’d just “check if it worked”, then get the minecraft update out. Well, turns out i didn’t. :d
i got my pandora yesterday!
I spent some time today writing a review of it on the actual device, but then the network failed and i was unable to publish it. Grr. The short version of the review is “it’s an amazing piece of hardware, but the software sucks”. I’ll post the full version when i get it to work again.
The minecraft update is coming soon! Doors, ladders, possibly chairs, and signs.
I’m a bit worried about the performance in infdev, so i might have to do some work there to allow fixed sized maps again before replacing indev.
update soon
Well soon can mean anything. I hope it's not 'valve' soon
I can't wait for ladders. Half of the space in my tower is taken up by stairs.
update soon
hes on valve time so 2 weeks at the least
i was right

Bro, I tried playing Minecraft on my laptop. I set the render distance to tiny and "view bobbing" to off. I had an average framerate of ~10 FPS and it froze every 2-3 seconds. :colbert:

FUCK YES
I fucking hate you.
Concerning note: I had a dream about Minecraft last night where I found a huge vein of Diamond. :geno:

After reading this, I was like HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT.
Well, turns out I didn’t. :D
Then I raged. Hard.
[editline]11:35AM[/editline]
Things I'd like to see fixed/happen:
-Leaves falling in Infdev when the trunk is cut down
-Light in Indev at sunup/sundown
-Smaller random caves in Indev, random caves in Infdev
-BETTER OPTIMIZATION
-Sun/Moon visible even at render distance normal/short/tiny
-And, of course, multiplayer In(f)dev.
