You map out the ore, map out your map, layer them in GIMP, and then just dig a shaft down where there is whatever you wanted...

Made a cave and my current goal is to remove all the dirt from the mountain and convert it into a giant mountain castle. God damn, my daylight hole attracted every mob for miles around.

Fucking hell. I was supposed to be able to buy minecraft this weekend, but my debit card hasn't been sent to me yet. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't moving. I wont have the net for at least a month. :saddowns:

A lot of coal is often exposed to the daylight, actually; just go poking around rock cliffs and open mini-caves. But what I did on my first (successful) journey into infdev was I made some pickaxes and just dug. And dug and dug and dug. I collected a bunch of coal, iron, and a shitload of stone. After a while I returned to the surface and had enough resources to start building large structures from the get-go.
