Now that we've finished up all the migrating, I got around to working on Brohoster MC pricing. You can see it here: https://bros.brohoster.com/cart.php?gid=7 We're now selling a 128MB Minecraft server for only $3.95/month. It works perfectly for a nice set of friends (e.g. 4 or so players). As an FYI, we migrated to the Softlayer network - the most highly regarded dedicated server provider available. The boxes for Minecraft have two Intel Xeon Westmere E5620 CPUs, 24GB of DDR3 Triple Channel RAM, 4x500GB in Adaptec RAID-10 with BBU, and a 1000mbit port.
Will my existing minecraft servers be put under the new pricing plan? also
Okay. We may not be able to pass a spelling test, but we definitely could define them. One of our main focuses is at Brohoster is the ever so popular Minecraft. Starting at only $3.95/month, we have packages for every size and shape. We run our Minecraft servers on boxes completely seperate (separate) from other gameserver types to ensure (complex expression; make sure) best performance for both parties. They are powered by Dual Intel Westmere E5620 CPUs, 24GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1000mbit port, and 4x500GB SATAII drives in RAID-10 via a BBU-enabled Adaptec RAID card. Your average budget VPS couldn't come close to that much performance. We run the Bukkit server wrapper on every server, so you can install plugins to your hearts content (possessive ending; your heart's content) to make it what you want it to be. Clients uploading .JAR files themselves is allowed, so don't think you need to open a support ticket (we'll gladly assist anyways)!

Will my existing minecraft servers be put under the new pricing plan?
You can do this automagically by just going to your services and clicking on Upgrade/Downgrade. I created new products for the new plans and discontinued the old product. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline]
also
Thanks, I wrote all that on 36 hours of no sleep! :v:
next thread should be about pictures from indev/infdev. To start. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline] Jpeg rape time. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline] I feel like the landscapes back then were much nicer :saddowns: Does someone have the old minecraft.jar? I want to nostalgia :smith:
Sorry if this has been posted but How big are the maps, My friend say they are Endless, But seeing a couple of pictures, They have borders?
Maps can be roughly eight times the size of Earth's surface, maybe more. AKA fucking huge. Depth is where they fall short.
Sorry if this has been posted but How big are the maps, My friend say they are Endless, But seeing a couple of pictures, They have borders?
They really are, the borders you saw probably were from creative or unloaded chunks. The limit is the amount of memory you have on your PC. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline]
Maps can be roughly eight times the size of Earth's surface, maybe more.
Maps can be roughly eight times the size of Earth's surface, maybe more. AKA fucking huge. Depth is where they fall short.
Ok thanks.
I found a great post on the sizes on the official forum.
The map extends 32 million blocks in every direction from the center of the map, making a square 64 million blocks on a side. Since each block is supposed to be a cubic meter, than means 64,000 kilometers. Area of minecraft map: 4,096,000,000 square kilometers Surface area of Earth: 510,072,000 square kilometers That's where the figure "eight times bigger than Earth" comes from: a map can theoretically have 8 times the surface area of Earth, but there's presently no computer capable of storing it. However, as shown in this video, due to rounding errors the game flips out when you're more than a couple million blocks from the map origin, so the playable area is a lot smaller than the theoretical maximum.
I found a great post on the sizes on the official forum.
woah, that's very weird.... I want to live there, but without the lag and the insane long walk you have to do :smith:
Notch should fix that.
It would be so great to crack open a block and find a giant cavern behind it, 70 blocks high and no real way of reaching the ground. Stalagmites and -tites littering the area, pools of water on the ground, the faint sounds of hostile mobs in the distance.
More than the assassins, the guy with the welding mask, and the Nazi type general, Seeing them on the same team with robots and medieval serfs and knights just doesn't work
Stuff will probably change, so don't worry too much about the little problems you see right now. If you really want to improve the skins, post in the thread or on the nationcraft forums so I don't only run across your input by chance when I check the last few pages of this thread every few days. The welding mask is old-school smelting shield by the way, and the eyes aren't really glowing. In the dark, the whites of someone's eyes would stick out. I didn't want to make his eyes stick out that much at night because he's sneaky, so I made them red. It's more intimidating anyway, and red are a bunch of dicks so I think it ends up fitting pretty well.
My server is back up now, along with the autorestarter making sure it won't stay down more than a few minutes.
For some reason on my server the spawn point is randomized within something like a 30 block radius, and everyone has been saying other servers spawn points are in a fixed position, whats going on? I would like a fixed position it would make it easier to make a decent starting point.

Oh god, I was just spelunking through caves finding tons of iron, when I saw a creeper down one of the caves. I go "aw yeah no problem" and gather some nearby gravel to smother the fucker. I go back to where he is and he's gone. I throw a torch down there to see if I can see him, no sign of him. I finally venture down there because I need to get the torch I dropped,I take a look down the two caves that fork from where I saw him, and he wasn't in either of them. I'm scared :ohdear:

VG needs to buy a domain and then we can just write "Ventlegille.net" to join the server. I mean, it costs like 5$ a year. [editline]1st March 2011[/editline] Also, why am i alone in VG? :smith:
What the fuck did notch do to the slime spawnrate? Sure, it's fun to encounter slimes every now and then, but this is getting ridiculous. It's almost impossible to mine at my server now due to this fucking slime invasion. You can't even kill the small ones.
Oh god.

I need someone with a vanilla minecraft to upload these .class files from the bin: bb.class ck.class h.class kv.class mh.class oi.class And some may not exist, if not, just ignore it. The reason I want this is because I installed a fuckload of mods, everything works, but when I'm ingame it messes up. And I wanna remove Optimine cause it's giving me errors. I don't think this is warez (Is it?) If someone does it, I'll be grateful.
