Out of boredom, I decided to figure this out. I timed it, and the minecraft character walks 64 blocks in 15 seconds on perfectly flat ground. That's 256 blocks a minute and 15,360 blocks an hour. Earlier somebody posted that maps extend 32 million blocks in each direction from where you spawn. Hypothetically, though, because somebody tried it and went to 2 or 3 million before the game had rounding errors and flipped out. So, hypothetically, it would take you 2083.3 hours to get to the end of the earth. That's 86.8 days. And this is only true if the earth is perfectly flat and you walk in a straight line without stopping. But in reality, with the 2-3 million block limit, it would take you 130-195 hours. That's 5.4-8.1 days. Correct me if I'm wrong. But that's crazy. Horizontal limits aren't a problem I think.
I think you just spent time calculating something that most people won't bother actually trying. It pretty much ruins your save if you go that far.
Oh and just for kicks, walking from one end of the earth under the same conditions to the other end would take you 173.6 days. Or a little over 5 months. hey guys i've just recently completed a mob farming trap thing i'm having trouble actually getting the mobs to follow me down the hallway though, i followed some video tutorial and he said that you shouldn't put one way flowing water all the way down, only for the first 25 blocks or so closest to your trap is there a reason for this or is he bullshitting? because it would make it 10x easier if all the mobs just got dragged to death instead of me having to go get them the only mobs that can seem to spot me are spiders
http://i.cubeupload.com/UwIaYY.png What do i put in the ip bar?
You can check by clicking Start > Run > Type "cmd" in the box then hit enter > type "ipconfig" then hit enter > Check for IPv4 adress which should start with "192.168". (That's what you put in the IP bar.) Is it Classic or Beta server?
Any seed codes for generally flat ground?
Anybody else ever made a sandcastle? A while ago I made one from sand (80%) cobblestone/wood (10%) levers (5%) and other stuff to make one. Shit was good.

Hey facepunch, I could use a little help for my mod. I made a mod that makes cake never run out and it feels a bit too overpowered, so I'm trying to make a version that lasts 2x (possibly configurable if somebody teaches me how to read and write a config file) as long. Any ideas?
I'm trying to make a version where cake lasts 2x as long, and so I used a while statement to only update the metadata every two times you eat the cake. The problem is, this relies on a variable that is reset every time you close the game. This allows you to eat once, close the game, and open it back up and eat again without the cake being depleted. I declared a variable at the top of the class file (I think this may be the issue) and changed the healing code of the cake to look like this:
*method name for cake block healing*(*parameters*) { *check for player health being under 20* { *heal the player 1.5 hearts* countcake = (countcake+1); *declare variable l as block metadata + 1* *check if l is greater than or equal to six (cake uses)* { *get rid of the cake because its used* } else { while (countcake >= 2) { *set the cake metadata to show it's been eaten* *update the cake* countcake = 0; } } } }
(As you can see I replaced the obfuscated stuff with a (hopefully) more clear definition of what it does so it would be easier to read) I'm a bit of a noob at modding so my code is very messy, and I'm stumped as to any other way I can make the cake last 2x as long. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
I've started a little Minecraft blog, to tell about my adventures in the Waffle House SMP server, as well as provide a launching base for my Let's Play series. No real content yet, but there will be in the coming weeks. Link: http://woolio1.tumblr.com
it would be easier if you posted the code i think.
If you say so.
private void c(dt paramdt, int paramInt1, int paramInt2, int paramInt3, fd paramfd) { if (paramfd.V < 20) { paramfd.c(3); countcake = (countcake+1); int i = paramdt.e(paramInt1, paramInt2, paramInt3) + 1; if (i >= 6) { paramdt.e(paramInt1, paramInt2, paramInt3, 0); } else { while (countcake >= 2) { paramdt.c(paramInt1, paramInt2, paramInt3, i); paramdt.j(paramInt1, paramInt2, paramInt3); countcake = 0; } } } }
